We had it hired because my husband has extremely bad gout so he isn’t able to get on ladders and my vertigo prevents me from getting on ladders. This is why we hired it out everything else we have done on our own we turned a 3bedroom/1bath into a 6bedroom/3 bath. So it’s not about us wanting it to be perfect!

Wow. As much as I enjoy your videos, Becky, I really REALLY needed to hear your message (around the 11-12 minute mark) about making baby steps towards progress. I've been struggling this year with both medical issues, after a really bad fall, as well as grief since I lost my sister in March--who was also my BFF and the last of my immediate family. I make lists, then don't complete them, and then feel guilt and failure and then the next day I have even more to do because stuff was undone. .Lather. Rinse. Repeat. A friend told me to just do the one thing each day that causes me the most grief...so I've been doing that. It does feel as though I'm making forward progress (book shelves are getting built and laundry is getting done and meals are being prepped). Am I racing to the finish line? Nope...but those small wins ARE making a positive difference to my psyche...and to my home. Thanks for embracing transparency and candor and being so strong that you can share your vulnerabilities. That makes as much difference in a life as knocking out 20 freezer meals. :)

The foam that says it's for windows and doors are made to not expand as much and will not bow your frames so both cans you bought were the right foam for the job. For future reference if you use a break-a-way bladed knife that can be fully extend it will cut the foam like butter! Total game changer! You can find the knives in the paint department at any hardware store or at any paint supply store. Hope that helps!

Thoughts from a person who just put in a new kitchen in my new home. Put in 2 dishwashers when you renovate. It doesn’t cost much more but it’s life changing for big cooks. Oh yes 2 dishwashers are better than 2 oven! I have had kitchens in both configurations. If only I could have both. Diswashing has 3 options, hand, machine, trash. I love that you give yourself grace to work on dishes as time allows. I have a lot more time than you do but I have always had a messy kitchen until about 6 months ago. I had a bad habit of putting off cleaning up until one day I just said enough. I cleaned out my cupboards and made one big space for large appliances used infrequently, got rid of stuff I didn't use at all and downsized my bowl and storage containers to items I use weekly. I would rather wash frequently than have them hog up space. I wash bowls and utensils as I cook . I run the dishwasher in the morning after breakfast so day use and dinner plates have a place to go. Usually I don't have any dishes to face after dinner or breakfast except to put dried ones away and dirty plates, cups and eating utensils in the dishwasher. I always wipe and clean my counters with water and vinegar as I go so I don't have to worry about chemicals contaminating my food while cooking. Also when I come into the kitchen if I see something on the that needs to be done my new motto is "if you see something that needs to be done, you can't unsee it, do it then." Has been a game changer for my mental health lol. Also I got a robotic vacuum cleaner to clean my floors. BIG time game changer. You have been a big inspiration for me, thank you for your videos!

Yes you can buy a sheller for your peas. But you will miss a very big opportunity for great conversation and memory making! I have very fond memories of sitting on the front porch swing with my mamaw shelling purple hulls by hand! To this day, it is very relaxing to me to just rock on my porch with a big bowl of fresh purple hulls and just shell away. Remembering my fun times with her! If you choose to let them dry on the vine, a simple trick is to put them all in a garbage bag and beat them with a broom. All the peas separate from the shells and fall to the bottom. My 80yo father inlaw taught me that trick! And I have growers' anxiety too! And this is my third year as well!! Thank you for reminding that it's all in God's plan!

We put patches in and I’ve been working on smoothing on drywall mud in a way where you can’t tell there was a patch. It’s a lot of work, and usually takes at least 2-3 layers, but it would have been more costly to completely re-do all the walls.

About the shelling Peas, my moms taught me that there is a membrane inside of the pods that can be taken off, and once removed the pots become really tender and nice to eat. I'm from Denmark so not sure if we have the same types of shelling peas, but it is worth a try!

Thanks for taking us along on your journey! Just before I sat down to watch this video, I spent a little time in my garden...weeds, Japanese beetles, and deer can make me discouraged but then looking at healthy looking tomato plants, green beans in flower and a zucchini ready to harvest can certainly help!

Alright you motivated me! I sat down to watch this and you were washing dishes so I dragged my butt to my kitchen. Our well is currently being treated because it's contaminated (pro tip since your moving to a house with a well, test it yearly...) Sooo we're using water in jugs from the neighbors and I just didn't want to deal with my mountain of dishes. But I made a dent into the work while listening to this video and then I'm just gonna give myself some grace ❤️❤️❤️.

Sugarsnap peas are the best. I am enjoying your new house updates. Love seeing the garden harvests too. That insulation foam works great just don't get on hands or flooring. A bread knife works well for cutting.

Morning Becky, listening to you brought back my memories of growing peas. I had never grown peas & I picked reg peas, started eating it (yuk) I thought I picked it to early. Waited & tried again- it didn't change the uneatable aspect of it. I had planned to grow more then you explained how little I would get. Thank you I'm going to do same as you. While you were eating the strawberries it brought back fun memories of eating veggies in garden when mom sent me out to pick produce. Yuuumy best way to eat them. Have a great productive day. I love watching your videos. You are an amazing woman- you still teach me lots. Thank you- God bless you from grandma Katie in Oregon

When I was little we had a garden and we would take twists of wax paper filled with salt and go pick tomatoes and eat them right there, sun warmed, and bursting with flavor! And in those years, (40's and 50's) no fear of pesticides.

That is so so true. It is so easy to get caught up in making progress and ‘getting it done’ that you forget to take time for yourself but I find the job will be done much better if you take time out to rest occasionally. If you continually push on to ‘get it done’ you may find that the progress made is not quite as good as you would like it to be and you can be disappointed with it later.

If you do by the croissants again, whenever we get them I automatically split them in half when we get home and freeze the other half. I know you mentioned freezing them, just thought I would share the tidbit of doing it right away. Even if they're just in the freezer for a few days it helps with us to not feel rushed to get through them. :) I've learned a lot watching your trial and errors. Thank you

For shading the summer sun, look at what are called sun sails. They shade what is underneath them outside which can be deck, siding, and also windows depending upon rhe configuration.

@@tjeanvlogs9894 look at Harbor Freight Tools (HFT), black mesh, 60%-70% UV ray blocking, sun shades found in the tarp department. They have a "side" identified by looking at the tape with rivets sewn around thier edges; placed correctly they are better for shading but, you can't see in except for shadows at night either. We've used them ourselves in different ways but have also installed them at other's places. They work best outside with at least a little bit of dead air space; ends of eaves, hung over a roof and held in place by bricks, on a roof wrapped over 4"x4"s. But they dropped a friend's brightly window lit apartment's temperature by 20 plus degrees when hung as curtains over mini blinds and as a curtain liner over the big windows; warning the mesh is uneven and can't be used as a cutting measurement guide AND it likes to ravel so must be folded immediately and then at least hand tacked in place.

The trim is looking wonderful! I love watching videos of you both and all the progress you are both making is so lovely to see. Thank you for sharing your videos, your videos are always the highlight of my day to watch when I need to just relax and see something wholesome and uplifting. IRL stuff can be crazy so it's always good to be humble with ourselves and go at a pace we can achieve and be okay with just doing the best we can at that particular time. You're so right in that it doesn't always have to be perfect, just do what you can, when you can. Sending lots of love to you and your family from Sydney Australia
