What a backbreaking job! 😳 Nice eucalyptus tree in the corner, but that stand of bamboo to the right will soon become a nightmare! If she wants it for privacy I highly recommend she get the bamboo completely dug up and possibly plant Italian cypress trees close together. Just a suggestion. 😊

You could have saved yourself some time by digging up the raised area and moving that. Once the ground is level then you can build the raised beds, Clay is horrible to work with, its better suited for a potters wheel, i had a garden like that very hard to dig up and very heavy too. You also need a rototiller to help with soil turnover. I hope this helped for the next time you do something like this. You work to hard, work smarter not harder or your backs are going to be done by the time your 30 years old. My back is shot from years of gardening DIY and interior decorating. As me how it feels LOL.🤩😊Have a great day guys see you in the next one.

I need that roto tiller tool! My mother in law has a small “garden” on her side of our duplex where years ago they Attempted to weed. They laid down a cheap weed block material and planted hostas, the surrounded them with white stone….without digging up the soil and removing any weeds first. Every year I battle it. At 65, it’s getting harder for me every year… this year I used a shovel and dug up the entire garden, raked, weeded, hoed the whole shebang…. (I had pulled the weed block material up a few years ago to get rid of the weeds that had grown through)

So we plant to build raised beds that will be about hip height for the lady as bending over is not what she wants to be doing. So we won’t be doing much work with the ground it would be fresh mushrooms compost inside the raised beds , still working on a possible drainage idea

I can't believe that there is not a less laborous way of breaking soil in 2022. This is how my mother/father and I'm sure their parents broke ground. At least they had a donkey 🐴. You did a great job of hand turning the soil. All I can say is I don't think I could work for you because I am always looking for the easier way to do things. But it must give you guys a real sense of accomplishment when your done to see your hard labor turn out so beautifully as in a job well done.🌹You also could have used something a little stonger in you white coffee mugs at your break time.⚫
