Busy day with everyone doing something different around the farm.
Planting sorghum. Baling straw. Planting and canning potatoes. Even doing some electrical work to the Toro mower.

With all the strife and COVID in the world it’s a wonderful change of pace to watch this family share what so many have forgotten, kindness and love for each other. Thank you Rhonda and Kevin for the opportunity to be part of your family.

That’s a lot of potatoes I do like those golden potato sometimes instead of just the Idaho, that’s cool you’re picking berries are trying to pick them I grew up in the mountains of Pennsylvania and every day in the summer we go out and get blueberries and black raspberries and red raspberries course the Bears liked them too so I had to be careful😳😳🙂

Bailers, (round or square,) never cease to amaze me. . .!! Quite the contraptions!! Interesting with your potato planting. . . I was always told that cutting the potatoes would let them set in better, but you're right, it would sure be faster with the whole ones! 👍👍

Hi Ronda, Thanks for some of the fertilizing tips. I'm always researching and experimenting with different types. I too, don't adhere to a regular/ set schedule. So far my plants are lookin' fairly decent considering all the fluctuation in the weather conditions (temperature/ rainfall) this year. Hopefully that trend continues and all the work effort put in, pays off. Good day/ week to all!

The largest bulbs grow in early sowing or planting. After you get the winter onion seeds, sow at the end of August. They are already on sale at the end of May. A distant neighbor does so and does not even cover her for the winter. He has been doing this for many years. After the onions, he sows corn.

I learned to trim my scallions and green onions from you. It works well to revitalize them if they get neglected too. Thank you Ronda for the inspiration to grow a nice garden. It's been a really challenging year to grow with the long cold spring, then sudden extreme heat, and finally...zero rain. In spite of that, my hard work is starting to pay off. My peas are basically done too. The squash is doing pretty well. The tomatoes are setting nicely. The corn just started tasseling out. Looks like I planted mostly long maturing varieties, so none of my favorites yet, but they should be really tasty starting in August. Hopefully the precipitation won't take too much of your yields. Thanks again, you've been very helpful and inspiring to me this year.

I put ground eggshells in the transplant holes for my peppers and tomatoes to help with end rot. For fertilizer, I put down chicken manure in woodchips throughout the summer. I recently added some wood ash to all the flowering plants. That program seems to work well here. Lots of fruit! Now I just need it to fill out and start ripening. :) can't wait for fresh tomatoes. I estimate I should have a thousand pounds this year. Lots for the farmers market in August. Be well guys! Looking forward to seeing your garden harvest as the summer progresses.

@@acresofclayhomestead I have 40 plants. I lost 2 to disease after the cold spring. I figured 25#s each plant pretty conservatively. Last year each plant yielded that on average. I won't know for sure until harvest, but I'm optimistic. They seem to grow very well here. I feel fortunate for that.
