I really appreciate your videos. Your research is a welcome instead of just opinion and anecdotes. Great job. Keep it up.👍🏾

I just recently started feeding my acros twice a day. I have noticed improvement in color, polyp extension and growth. Great video and research article!

What do you feed them? I'm little apprehensive about feeding them twice a day only because of the amount of uneaten food that could build up..

ReefMan a mix of reef roids, reef frenzy, and benereef. I feed small amounts and it seems to have no impact on my nutrient levels I don’t feed based on recommend levels. I’m slowly increasing the amounts though. I’ve been testing my phosphates twice a day before feeding in the morning and afternoon after feedings.

Great info. Well presented. Good coloration and lighting on the coral close ups. Just one problem, your overall on camera picture and your tank in background are really poorly lit and washed out. But your content, evaluations and information is well put together. Common sense but also scientifically based.

I don't have many fish 2 they are pod esters so I breed brine shrimp and cope pods and filter 100micron so I feed reef pulse at tea time and ab+ reef energy at dinner only to keep nutrients up otherwise my nightrates and phosphates drop to untraceable on salifert test kits so I don't actually know if they are feeding I also use spiralina iam using aquaforest np pro and probiotic s so my phosphates and nitrates are perfect were I want them so my question is if it's got polips there there for a reason true

I've tried to feed my corals with the aquaforest range of amino acids vitamins, and powder foods. didn't see any difference

I use Benereef twice a week and I’ve seen amazing feeding responses from my clam, and lps corals. However I can’t tell if my Acropora and millepora are feeding because I don’t have much polyp extension. I might just up the feeding to a couple times a day with very small targeted amounts....🤔
@ReefMan
@ReefMan 4 жыл бұрын
I haven't heard of Benereef food, interesting! I have a theory that some corals like some foods better than others - particle size, composition, etc. Maybe we should be feeding a mix?
@Reefgrrl

Well, I have Reef Chili, ReefRoids, Coral Dust, Benereef, and NLS Nutri/Cell encapsulated - I used to make up what I called a “slurry” of small quantities of each and feed it to the tank twice a week but it doesn’t take long for excess nutrients to become a problem even though I only feed my fish once per day. So I tried each one separately and got the most obvious feeding response from the Benereef, so carried on with that, twice per week. But perhaps I should rotate through the others daily with 1/8 of a teaspoon to start with, and see what happens....🤔

It would have been great if they had included fish poo in their study.
@ReefMan
@ReefMan 4 жыл бұрын
That would be interesting to study. We could reach out to the study authors to ask if they considered it - usually the scientists that publish these papers are really happy to answer questions like that. They love when people are excited about their work (as we all do)! The contact info is usually listed in the link to the paper.

@@ReefMan And it's the second study you mentioned that includes natural sea water as a source of nutrition. I have always heard that most of whatever you bring home in the sea water you collect dies quickly. When I lived by the sea I used to collect water twice per week at night because I thought I would be getting more plankton.
@ReefMan
@ReefMan 4 жыл бұрын
Yea I think a lot of aquariums do nightly flushes with seawater. I have a paper coming up that looks at the difference between what's in the water in the day versus at night - you're right - there is more stuff at night. I'd be a little worried about pollution close to the shore collecting my own water.
