google "the life cycle of the acropora eating flatworm (AEFW)" that's the name of the paper and it will be near the top. It looks like the best eradication treatment would be to raise the temp and dip all the corals based on the life cycle.

@@knowen87 what is best to dip the corals in? jsut found out i believe i have these on my birdsnest colony.

@@JCSReefing Revive from two little fishies worked well. For me there is a marked "peeling off" of AEFW at about 10 minutes, but be careful, some of the deepwater/smooth skinned corals i had melted if I went beyond 15 minutes with the dip. With those corals the first sign you have stretched the dip too far is a milky-ness to the water. If you see that you might already have stretched it too far. But, keep withing 10-15 minutes, and to the given concentration, Revive has worked great (Beware the expiry date, if left too long the oils (Active ingredient) break down). Never heard off them being on birdsnest colonies, and seeing as your post is 4 months old, I am curious: How did it go?

I can't understand why the big coral farms or supplement companies aren't funding research like the gene targeting she spoke about. These pests and others like vermatid snails and Aiptaisa, ich and velvet etc are literally destroying this hobby. If the industry wants to keep making money and profit from this hobby then they need to deal with these issues. Its is absolute nonsense that consumers at the hobbyist level should be left to try and deal with these issues. The industry should be regulated and forced to provide us with healthy pest-free live stock.
