Doing any acrylic pour with a hair dryer is an awesome way to create abstract art. The blow dryer gives some airy flow and form that you just can't get with pouring and tilting alone.
These are my best blow dry tips and tricks for an acrylic pour.

It is frustrating! It’s the most difficult method for me as well! I think I’m going to try paint and water and LB suggestion on holding the blow dryer! I even slowed down how I was holding the blow dryer to try and figure out what I was doing wrong! My paints were too thick though.

I just love that painting I have tried twice to do it and I just messed up both of my canvases so I don't know what I'm doing I try over and over to make it just as you are with the lines I don't have a problem with that but not the lines and everything but then when I get ready to blow dry it it just goes everywhere I am doing it's so wrong and it's aggravating so then I took my canvases and I did it with a balloon so I wouldn't completely lose my money of my paint and my canvas and it took up the whole campus I'm just not satisfied is there any way at all you can give me a tip on how to do it easier or anything at all for a first coming I'd really appreciate it and thank you so much for putting your art out out there it's really beautiful... Love to watch you make it and I love the outcome very beautiful

I want to thank you. I REALLY appreciate and enjoy your channel (meaning your work). Until I found your channel, I was unable to create the right paint viscosity to make these kinds of paints. I wasted a lot of paint and quit for a while. But your channel inspired me to try again!! YOU taught me a reliable way to test viscosity BEFORE pouring the paint on the canvas and wasting it, again!!!❤️ You also helped me improve my blowdryer techniques! This is probably the fourth time I am watching this video. Each time I watch it, I pick up another helpful piece of information! I still struggle with picking colors, but the small successes I have had in that area also can be credited to YOUR videos…you explained how to read the paint labels, how to avoid transparent paint next to transparent paint, how complimentary colors need a color between them (I use white) to keep them from mixing to brown… Seriously, I could go on and on!! The reason I think you have been able to teach me more than the other wonderful artists out there because I am left-brained, too. The other artists are extremely talented and obviously wonderful teachers, but I do not always leave their videos understanding what I came there to learn, like right-brained people do. Viva la difference! The world would be boring it we were all the same. Thank you for teaching me in my 50’s!!❤❤ Request: If you could teach me how to pick colors that will always go well together, I would watch that video 1000 times! Most people seem to be able to “just see” what colors work together. Alas, I am not one of those lucky people! I bought an advanced color wheel chart that has a cutout placed on top of the color wheel to help you find five colors that are pleasing to the eye. That has helped, but I am sure you could break it down the concepts for me in a way that I actually understand how to pick colors! Would you consider doing a video like this??

Great tutorial, I really mean it. Best I’ve seen yet showing how to prepare for a Dutch pour using a hair dryer. Today I mixed my paints ready to do the big experience tomorrow. I’ve tried and tested a few of your other videos and wow 🤩 suddenly I can do it. I’ve found your paint calculator more then valuable too, makes it so much easier knowing how much you need in advance. It’s also very helpful when you click on the thick, medium and thin paint a box appears telling you what consistency to mix to. Excellent, I can’t say enough good things about my experiences. HEY 👍Thank you! I definitely have a love-hate relationship with the hairdryer… I always want to use it and I always hate what comes out… LOL I only have one question do you keep it on the heat setting or do you hold down the cold button as the dryer is blowing? I actually have some color that I mix last night and I think it’s the right consistency but I didn’t produce any cells… You know where I get my cells is right on the edge of the canvas and whether tipping the canvas or blowing the canvas or using the hairdryer(trying to anyway) those cells always have to come off the canvas because there’s so much paint in the middle of the canvas… So I know I can get cells I just can’t get it where I want them… I actually agree with you I think Molly is one of the best artist that uses the hairdryer… She can do one sweep and it blows your mind! And Kanella I always like how she places the paint on a canvas in that Y design… maybe you have another question would you have been able to salvage the first canvas that was too thick the reason I asked that is because I like the bold colors and you also had a good composition starting… And the one with the correct consistency the last one I often wondered can I add Paint even after I basically was done but there was one section that needed something more… I guess I actually have a Lotta questions lol Saturday is my painting day I dedicate the whole day to destroying my kitchen there’s a few times in the middle of the week in the middle of the night that all get up and start fiddling around mixing colors seeing if what I think will go together actually well I don’t use a color wheel color just comes naturally to me and I haven’t been doing this very long it’s only been four or five months with this type of medium I’ve been painting all my life so picking out colors is not my issue But in all that time only one painting the colors that I put together did not go … I think my biggest issue is composition and second is cells… But I’d like this type of medium and that’s basically because I do not become attached to the painting… Traditional painting you put in so much time and effort basically blood sweat and tears that after it’s done I won’t let anyone have it… So basically I am a hoarder… I know and I understand that everything is an experiment and a suggestion I always try to keep that in mind before I start thanks for the video I guess I’m going to use my hairdryer today👍✌️🤪

You are my go to Guru. Haven't tried this technique yet. Just a month in and loving it. I am using my wife's computer. I AM 77 years old and have a lot of time on my hands. Pouring has taken time away from Netflix and reading apocalypse books. LOL sometimes I stop in the middle of a poor and come to you to watch what you would do. I am determined to get to the point where I am not cringing every time I am making a poor. I am all using acrylic paper because I figured if it was acrylic paper it would do the job. Going out today to get watercolor paper. I tried soaking the acrylic paper before using it and it doesn't crinkle quite as bad but still more than I want, but about as bad as the cheap canvases I started out with. Then I went to canvas board and it bowed in the middle. I am still going to try the lacquer you suggested on the canvas board. You are the man.

You make great educational videos, sir. Not only working towards an end result but also taking the time (and efforts!) to explain your ratio's and techniques. Thanks for sharing, I am looking forward to my first pour, most probably this afternoon or this weekend already after looking tons of videos.

@LeftBrainedArtist It was fun, got myself some 15x15cm white bathroom tiles for easy pactice. Used white, black, phtalo and Orange, mixed in seperate cups. In batch one only with Pouring medium, result, no cells. In batch 2 with addition of Owatrol (European floetrol), again no cells ;). Both batches hopefully with the right consistancy as you show in your video's. But I had fun and going to visit a artshop about 20km from here, to get me some silicone oil (Liquitex), pouring medium (Royal Talens, using non branded now) as my Acrylic paint (Amsterdam standard) and try again. The guy I spoke in the shop yesterday over the phone, had good results with this combination. Meaning, if it does not work, I only have to doubt myself, not the combination of materials ;).
