This is amazing. I wouldn't have thought this was a high school production right off the bat if it didn't say it in the title. The drama department clearly put a lot of time and effort into this, as you can see in the detailed sets and costumes. The music and the acting was spot on, as well. A+ job, Summit.

The best thing about this production is the tech crew! They did an amazing job! Leads are okay too. I didn't prefer Belle's voice or acting, or his for that matter, but the aesthetic was EPIC! And the supporting characters were phenomenal for high schoolers.

The set was indeed amazing. You can notice that the entire school gave a huge budget for it and it was worth it. The tech crew made it magical too, the transformation was amazing. The supporting characters also made a spectacular show, especially Lumiere. As a theater performer, the delivered the lines well! I can feel that they are Lumiere, Mrs. Pots and etc. However, I didn't liked how Belle performed. Yes, she have an incredible and spectacular voice but I can't see "Belle" in her performance. Some of the delivery of her lines are too off, her emotions are too off. Remember that there are stages of emotions before you reached the maximum (entrance and exit emotion) I think, a little bit of practice will fixed it. For the beast, his performance was okay. For Gaston, it was okay too. Overall, I know that performing live is a hard job and I've been in that same situation before. You all deserve an applause. Anw, Comgratulations! love from Philippines!

I must agree with Jessica McFarlane. The supporting characters and the tech crew are what made this production so appealing. I enjoyed the first scene. I was actually a bit surprised that they opened as the movie had. But, like I was saying, the special effects were magnificent for a high school production. I specifically liked the transformation. Not the acting during the transformation.. If I'm to be honest that bit was atrocious. That was not emotional and touching. It just truly wasn't becoming. Although the female lead did have talent, I honestly base my opinion on how she was unable to capture Belle's personality. I never once saw her and thought to myself how much she reminded me of my favorite childhood movie. It's one thing to partially resemble a person (by which I obviously mean a character) it's another to act like them. I came to this conclusion after reviewing each leads performance. So overall, I wasn't impressed unless the vocal support came into play. Idk. Perhaps I'm just a stickler for detail? And on that note.. Gaston was far from dreamy. I know there are slim pickings in the thespian world, but ... eh. He was also trying too hard. Yes, he's supposed to be aggressive, but not more so possessive, vain and cruel than he is obnoxious. I was getting a full on in my face obnoxious vibe. The beast... eh. I don't want to be directly rude. Let's just say I didn't approve. And I'm going to take a second to point out that the beast wasn't stabbed multiple times. That really bothered me. I can bear through the corny musical additions.. But not overly dramatized murder in a children's play. Mostly the inaccuracy appalled me. That doesn't take away from the good though! Every review has it's good and bad points.

+MaskedVoodoo Mindfunk Don't you think you're being a tad harsh? They didn't have much of a selection, it's a school full of kids.While I do agree that a thing or two was alittle off, the fact that you're using the words "atrocious" and "appalled" while critiquing this play, especially since it was put on by a highschool who did a FANTASTIC job, especially for a highschool, makes you sound so unjustifiably harsh
@maskedvoodoomindfunk91239 жыл бұрын
No, I do not. What are you a naturally defensive and overly sensitive individual? The words I shared were in no way harsh. Have you even seen a Broadway review a day in your life? A good percentage of these kids are literally working towards improving their craft so that one day they too will be able to act and sing amongst the best of them that Hollywood, etc have to offer. If you cannot handle this fact, that is on you. However I must implore of you to use common sense. This is what KZfaq is about. This is what the entertainment business is ABOUT. Constructive criticism can be taken, evaluated and used to succeed in life. I didn't say "Wow. They will NEVER be capable of moving an audience." I didn't ruin their future prospects or bully them into submission. Insert a tampon and get the fuck out of my face with all that bullshit. You need to learn how to not over personalize and over think situations that your mind automatically correlates with negativity. I genuinely want them to improve for their careers sake. I want them to give their all even if it isn't a set goal, because everyone should dedicate themselves to every task they have at hand. I want to remain candid and not change face for people such as yourself whom are positively annoying to the point of ridiculousness when it comes to knowing how to not blow shit out of proportion for no apparent reason. Take a chill pill and remember, hakuna matata.
@realmofthemisunderstood1669 жыл бұрын
MaskedVoodoo Mindfunk This isn't broadway, and you're the one who needs to put in a tampon, calm down. I am in musical theater, and I mostly do operatic characters (ex. fruma sarah from fiddler ), when I first started out my voice was very squeaky, but did my instructor tell me that my voice sounded atrocious or appalling? No, unlike you, she was not being overly dramatic, she simply told me what I was doing wrong and what to do right, and in two weeks I completely had it down. I legit cannot believe youre telling me to take a chill pill when you're the one saying "get the fuck out of my face with that bullshit"
@maskedvoodoomindfunk91239 жыл бұрын
You can get the fuck out of my face with that bullshit. Look at you STILL over personalizing. It's criticism at it's finest. Ever heard the saying tough love? I gave as much good criticism as i did negative criticism. You choose to focus directly on only the negative and make me out to be a heartless monster, which I am not. This is why you're an amateur and not within the business as you wish you were. You couldn't handle candid reviews. I find it hard to believe that "you got it down" due to the fact that you're incapable of composing yourself over a performance that wasn't even your own. Move on you ninny. And please, do us all a favor and chug down an entire bottle of those pills. You're certainly over dramatic and quick to be ever so emotional, and no one has the time to explain everything to you or help you see the silver lining in life. Either grow a pair or do not engage in arguments over topics you clearly have no business in speaking upon. Your knowledge of this craft is rudimentary at best. I'm making that observation based off of your need to act so foolish. No one would hire you for a role. Your claims of talent are for not. It's about holding yourself high and avoiding unnecessary exposure. You do not "have it down." Shall I tutor you in the art of picking and choosing your battles? Bedsides the point that this is an argument on KZfaq that you will never win, you're looking rather idiotic for even making such a comment and attempting to debate upon matters you insist you're familiar with. Even though 96% of all directors are complete pushy ass hats. And you're complaining about me? A self made critic on KZfaq? Yeah, you should get the fuck out of many things. Including the art you will never be able to succeed at with the "understand me, understand how it works for ME" attitude. No one wants a diva. YOU do what the director wants. What he/she tells you THEY want to see in that moment. So any previous experience has to be forgotten, or you will end up acting like Kristen Stewart. In fact, you probably are just another Kristen Stewart. You re-train and re-learn all of the time with acting. So any stories you have to share, save them for your parents and their proud little faces. I'm not here to make you or anyone else feel amazing about themselves because I see how hard they tried. I'm not your average coddler of feelings. If they did horrible, they did horrible. I never said "They'll never be able to act." I said "This performance was terrible in my opinion." Emphasis on MY OPINION. That's the thing about critics, dear. There are many of us. Each of us hold different opinions. You want someone else's? Go and bitch to them about how people like myself "Just don't understand" like other theater major who quite literally only made it as far as receiving said major. Your no more experienced than my cousin, and she can actually take harsh criticism like a pro. A so called, failed thespian outraged about a strangers comment on KZfaq. That in itself is hilarious. We both know your emotion is always behind a barrier when you act and you fly off the handle and express yourself too much when you're off the stage. You are no actress. You are a "wannabe". This is why you are so strongly opinionated about what I have to say. All wannabes have so much to say and so little to show. Keep it together and go and complain some where else. You're wasting one of my precious weekdays with your overly sensitive nature. I can't stand people like you who take something and run with it like you've never in your life said a cruel word to someone. As if you've never spoke your mind. As if I do not have the right to freedom of speech. Perhaps you're too much of a coward to do so. I am not. Obviously. I knew someone like yourself would venture along eventually. Honestly, I expected it. You're to be expected. That should say something for your presence in any sense of the industry and speak for the end of this argument. This is my conclusion - You need to get off your pedestal and realize that life includes the negative also and learn to fucking handle it like a grown woman. So please, do fuck off with your haughty demeanor. I'll tell you once more No one but you cares. Everyone else can take what I have to say with grain of salt. Lead by example and desist with your ignorance.
