You should do more metal work videos. I'll be the first to admit..20+yrs in the field. My service trouble shooting skills are on point, but I suck at sheet metal lol. I usually sub out a tin knocker. Stuff like u showed is easy, but when u get into crazy transitions..yea I'm not quite there yet lol.

Stuck on commercial service for over 15years now,I’ll recommend this video to a few green techs I know vs having to demonstrate,I’d probably do something sloppy since haven’t had the need to build a plenum in probably 12years now. Think I’ve forgotten some install skills so it’s good to watch your videos so I won’t totally forget, never know when family or friend would ask to do there install you know🧰🛠💵🆎

Pretty cool trick with plywood. Though it's pretty rare for us to do a plenum less than 36" in length.....All my years in HVAC and I've only had two systems not installed by me that had sheet metal popping due to no crossbreaks. Both had dirty filters. If one's sheet metal is popping they really should be learning friction rate, static pressure, Manual D, etc etc....

For end cap instead of adding 1" to the measurement and using S drives, add 1 3/8", bend at the 1 3/8 line then bend back fully at the 3/8 line. Save money.

I have to make a field set or plenum every 9 years. I just have never seen one that looks like a true professional did it. Building it with panels and/or S locks have always amateurish to me. A plenum made by a professional fab shop will always look superior, imo. Beading vs cross breaking, true pittsburgh's etc. I measure every job, and we show up with a plenums and/or duct that fits like a glove, because it was planned that way. It has always seemed to me the field ones were a couple notches, at best, better than a handy homeowner. We even do canvas connectors on 4/5 ton systems.
