That is a more aggressive Willy than I imagined, but different people would have different interpretation on the characters. This might be how the director interprets Willy and I respect that. I think the actors did a great job!

@@megadethly It's not condescending. It's a comment underneath a performance of the play. It's perfectly understandable to assume a person might have only seen one or two prior performances and not taken in the play. Also people normalise aggression towards women so they don't see things as we see them.

@@megadethly And yet you're doing it... maybe take a note from your own dumb comment. Again, no need for misogyny or telling me to calm down. The OP could handle it. Don't jump into discussions that aren't yours. If the OP has an issue, he can tell me. I'm not looking to get into it with an edgelord that doesn't know how to mind his own business. Violence against women is not just physical and I am responding to the OP, not the clip. You might want to educate yourself before typing again.

I was a director for this play in my drama class. I watched the movie based on this play, but i need something more simple to visualize this play on stage. It was hard, the settings are complex, the characters are so hard to understand. We were overwhelmed to prepare this drama for only a month. It was a nightmare. But this video really help me a lot to simplify the play and how to make it work with limited equipment, budget, and time.

I know it's two years, but for the sake of anyone else just as confused I'll point out that THAT is exactly the point. All the past imagery is Wally's recollections/fantasies/etc. This version may be a little bit harder to understand due to the lack of changing ages in the actors (because they're all young) and the low budget.

I really don't like microphones for non musicals. They detract from the look, they make the voice disjointed from the body, and actors should be trained to project. These actors actually sounded like they didn't need the assistance.

Sounds like an actor’s stylistic choice is conflicting with your personal opinions about how people should act. This is good imo, because real life can happen like this. There are people that live fake lives in hopes of acting like someone they’re not and there are people who never even think about what they’re doing, so it never occurs to them that what they’re doing isn’t normal. It’s discouraging when actors instructors give the impression that realism is measured by its ability to engage the audience when realism to me is honestly just what we see. I guess that doesn’t always entertain people on stage though, even though this is a play set on a realistic acting approach.

What the hell's with the microphones? Don't actors learn to project any more?

Happy needs to loosen up his stature. He has a common problem with acting from the elbows. For a high school not bad, but it feels like the actors let the lines go stale after saying them a lot.

This is horrendous. The microphones make it even worse. Miller is turning over in his grave.
