What an amazing video. He explains everything so well and just cuts to the chase without any bs. Out of many videos that I have added to my favorites this is the one that actualy solved my issues. Suscribed.

Awesome ! What a special guy As an IT person myself, trying to learn more and more, I found this video incredibly useful with lots of clearly explained details and very easy to follow and understand steps. Thank you so much dear Professor Andrew. I am now your fan and will Subscribe to your channel to see if you teach other things like Azure and Intune training, Microsot 365 Cloud stuff and so on. I just completed my basic Intune Training and will be looking forward to learning more about MECM (I guess formerly called SCCM). Lots of great videos I hope you have on SCCM training as well because I would love to watch those. Thanks again

How did you get an IT job without these basic AD DS skills? Im working on getting my first IT job.

@@silverfullbuster9177 Great question. Don't mind answering... We run a family business and always had standalone (workgroup) computers. So I never got exposed to that ADDS stuff... And really fell behind! Like big time. And then at approximately 38 yrs of age I decided to get into App development for Android devices (and started my own SaaS "business"). But then coming to find it's incredibly slow and difficult to grow enough revenue in a timely manner... So then at approximately 45 years of age, I decided to get serious about Domains, Active Directory and all that cloud engineering crap I had fallen behind on.... So I got into some basic office 365 administration training, some basic Intune training... And now I've shifted my focus to On-premises Windows Server Administration. And I'm currently heavily into that kind of stuff. By heavily I mean just a couple hours a day (which I guess is better than nothing)... But even Sys-Admin stuff is incredibly complicated requiring vast knowledge about A LOT of different areas... So it's absolutely mind boggling and I'm not sure where it will Iead me. But my attitude is that if you're investing your time learning valuable skills that others are too lazy or scared to do... You are more likely to be in a better economic situation than most ppl. But it's definitely not easy and I have many days where I feel like I'll never make it. So then I take a brake for a while and instinctively get back into my research into all this stuff because I'm incredibly curious how things work (especially in IT) But I've never officially had so much as a tier 1 help desk jon... Even though at this point I am confident I am way more than qualified. I'm actually trying to skip all that help desk crap and go straight for Sys-Admin someday. I hold a computer science degree (1998 I know, quite rusty)... But I also have 30 active years of hands on experience in Windows operating systems... So that should be worth something to someone eventually. That's about it... How about you? Are you pushing yourself as hard as I've been?

Before beginning, you must have shown the network configuration of the VirtualBox, whether it is on NAT or internal network, etc. In my case, the issue is that both the server and the Windows 10 VM are getting the same IP address, and Windows is unable to resolve the domain name of the Active Directory. I appreciate the effort you have put into your videos.

If you're getting " Ping request could not find host ****. Please check name and try again." The solution i found was to ensure that your CLIENT PC Primary DNS is the same as your SERVER PC DNS by checking your ethernet connection configuration in the server PC windows settings you should see IPv4 DNS servers use the top one. Let me know if it worked for you as well.

Hello, I have a question regarding users rights to remote desktop connection. In your video, you are showcasing how to change this users rights using Computer Management. Which means, this users rights apply only for computer(1)? Lets say there is another computer(2) added to the same domain. Can a user, who have been granted rights to connect remotely to computer(1) using Computer Management, also connect to computer(2)? Or it is needed to give user same rights on computer2 using Computer Management? If you need give user same rights for computer(2), can u tell me how to make a user be able to remotely connect (or even sign in) to every computer in domain without need giving him remote rights on each computer seperatly. Thank you.

one possible solution is to disable ipv6.

Sorry for the late response. Pinging by IP Address but not name is a DNS issue. Make sure you client’s DNS address is pointing to your Domain Controller.

Hello Professor, Hope all is well. I had already pointed out my client to my domain controller, and it was able to connect successfully. Here's what I did on my domain controller: when I ran CMD and entered "ipconfig /all," I checked the DNS servers, and I noticed that it was using an IPV6 address, specifically "fe80::1%19." To establish a connection, I directed my clients to my Domain Controller's IPV6 address, and they were able to join the domain. I also observed that when I ran "ipconfig /all" on all of my virtual machines and my local PC, the DNS servers were set to IPV6 addresses. This is the reason I encountered issues when pointing them to my domain, as I needed an IPV6 address to connect. I've examined my router settings, and I couldn't find any settings related to IPV6. Do I need to contact my ISP to disable IPV6 as my DNS server? I want to establish connections using IPV4. Looking forward to you response Best Regards, Em @@ProfessorAndrew

@@EyBossPusi You don't get any IP addressing (IPv4 or IPv6) on your internal network from your ISP. Computers set to DHCP would receive private addresses and DNS settings that would allow you reach the outside world. That said, your Domain Controller and client IP address should all be using static IPv4 addresses. Your Domain Controller should have it's own IPv4 address as its DNS server. Your client computer should have the Domain Controller's IPv4 address as its DNS server. At that point you should be able to use nslookup on your client to resolve to your Domain Controller. Nothing in that process would be interacting with anything outside of your network.

Hi, nice explanations, thank you. Should it be there an option to get PowerShell code generated as you do the work on the server interface? Perhaps, if you add a new user or a new GPO, to have one PowerShell video open and get the code for the same thing? It would be great for practicing the PowerShell and becoming familiar with its vast cmdlets. Tnx, Kruno

Sorry for the late response. You may be using the VirtualBox console rather than the Remote Desktop Application. Another possibility is that your users are Administrators which can access RDP by default.
