My Dad played the preseason with the Denver broncos AFL 1963. He said they send you a letter, bring 2 sets of clothes because they know in 2 days if you're staying. Colorado springs. He said every one was big. Every guy was the man where ever they came from but was normal or small at an NFL camp. They'd be calling home saying they feel weird, small, weak. My Dad said he had trouble covering the small shifty backs out of the backfield. They cut him before final rosters, he then got a job playing for The Providence Steamrollers and blocked for Heisman trophy winner Joe Belino of Navy all through the mid 60's. I was born in Providence 1968. My Dad played outside linebacker for Denver then offensive guard for Providence. He said you should always be able to play other positions in case a rare talent is at your position.

It was estimated that his salary in 1977 was above $100,000. In today's terms, that would be a defensive lineman salary of a piffling $414,000.” thank you for the story about Rocky. Blier!
