My Dad played the preseason with the Denver broncos AFL 1963. He said they send you a letter, bring 2 sets of clothes because they know in 2 days if you're staying. Colorado springs. He said every one was big. Every guy was the man where ever they came from but was normal or small at an NFL camp. They'd be calling home saying they feel weird, small, weak. My Dad said he had trouble covering the small shifty backs out of the backfield. They cut him before final rosters, he then got a job playing for The Providence Steamrollers and blocked for Heisman trophy winner Joe Belino of Navy all through the mid 60's. I was born in Providence 1968. My Dad played outside linebacker for Denver then offensive guard for Providence. He said you should always be able to play other positions in case a rare talent is at your position.

Eric Ostrowski Wow Rocky was one of my true heroes because he served in Vietnam. Also here’s some good info about first round pick Mean Joe Greene: “ When Joe Greene was drafted in 1969, he signed a five year contract with a $50,000 signing bonus and a $43,000 salary in his fifth year. It was estimated that his salary in 1977 was above $100,000. In today's terms, that would be a defensive lineman salary of a piffling $414,000.” thank you for the story about Rocky. Blier! Just curious how important is height in football? Amazing how many former college athletes went into acting. Off the top of my head ed, carl weathers, burt Reynolds was a really good college football player & I know I've heard of a lot of others.

Interesting story. I've been at that "I'm done" stage -- not in football, but in both my career and my personal life. And when you know, you know. Something clicks in your head and heart at the same time and you're able to say it out loud: "That's it. I've had enough, I'm done." Then you move on.

Wasn`t there a scene in one of his shows , perhaps Modern Family , where he was in the garage doing bench presses with pretty respectable weights ?

That was acting. Outside of character, he can't lift the steam off a cow pie.

I'm so thankful Ed didn't try out as a wide receiver. Chuck must of not heard about the 4tds in one game in 1966

From scoring four touchdowns in one game to coaching the Dallas cowboys pee wee team and then of course, Modern Family. Not his greatest show though. Long live Al Bundy.
