The church scene where he cried confirmed that steven is going to win some awards. This show really taught me about compassion. We're all going through the same things. I love that each character even the minor ones had a background where you can relate to feelings of not feeling adequate enough to make it through this life.

That was my favorite scene of his in the show, and the therapy scene was my favorite scene of Ali's. I like her scene slightly more because of the subtlety. It's harder to do than just bawling. Didn't know Ali had that acting chop.

That closeup of him breaking down in church is so, so moving and powerful. This is an AMAZING show, one of the most raw and honest I’ve seen in a while. It’s a reminder that good isn’t always as good as it seems, and bad isn’t always as bad as it seems. It’s always easy to sit back and judge, to say oh well I would never do that! But, we conveniently forget that the truth is when given the right circumstances, circumstances that those who judge never actually face, human beings are capable of anything.

This SHOW is going to win so much awards! The acting, the pacing, the storytelling, the comedy, the dark dark ending, the randomness, etc. I LOVED it. Like Gayle said, I just wanted to watch one or two episodes and I ended up binge-watching all the episodes until 6am in the morning. LOL! Was it worth it? YES. Did I enjoy going to work that day? NO. I hated humans.

Binged the whole thing in a few days. Truly one of the most eye-opening and thought-provoking shows I've seen. At the root of all the drama and wild stuff going on is the permeating question of circumstance vs. choice. Do our circumstances dictate our outcome in life, or is choice the only determinant? This has to win awards. Incredible writers, incredible cast.
@MyrnaDeJesus
@MyrnaDeJesus Жыл бұрын
I emphatically agree, Beef was incredibly eye opening and thought provoking. It managed to portray the characters so profoundly honest in their complexity that I was left breathless when I noticed how poignantly they served as mirrors for our collective internal pain, rage, and sorrow. First series that haunts me still, even days after I finished seeing all the episodes. I think about the scenes and their lines everyday. There were moments I felt sick to my stomach, repulsed, nauseous, melancholy, heartbroken-- my God, what a visceral, intense ride! I appreciate your reflective question regarding what sits at the heart of the premise: circumstance versus choice. Which leads the way? I believe it's not one or the other. I feel strongly that it's both. Circumstances provoke our choices and choices create our circumstances. One cannot exist without the other. Thanks for sharing your commentary. It was great to read.

I like how Steven pointed out the dimension of jealousy in the beginning of the interview. I quite missed that point while watching, but thinking back, I think jealousy explains a lot of aspects btw the characters. Not just about mutual jealousy between Danny and Amy, but also about his relationship with his brother Paul, Orange County people, and Amy’s with Naomi, Jordan, and his husband… it also shows how simple jealousy can bring disasterous consequences while a little more conversation and understanding can open up new possibilities for resolving many problems. Loved this show, scripts, and the cast. ❤
