what I really loved about this movie is the causal intimacy between Hiccup and Astrid. It's rare to see these kinds of stories show us young love past the falling in love part, and if intimacy is displayed, it's THE kiss. But these two have been together so long and you can see how comfortable they are with each other, the forehead touches and the hands on shoulders and the leaning into each other, Astrid fixing his braid etc. It's not touching for romantic or sexual reason, it's love and comfort, and I don't think I've ever seen a relationship like this in an animated franchise, and especially not aimed at children.

Makeup, no makeup, it's your personality that shines during your reactions. I could close my eyes while your videos play and be completely enamored with you.

i genuinely bawled the entire last half hour of this movie, i grew up with these movies and grew as a person right along with hiccup. i’ve lost my best friends and had to rebuild myself from the ground up

It is so bittersweet they went this route but I do respect it. This is probably one of the greatest trilogies of any animated film in so long. I have and always will be a fan of the series and will continue to do so. Emotions are always on another level during the ending and then the epilogue just destroys me. ❤❤❤❤😭😭

God I remember going into theaters by myself to watch this movie because I knew how emotional I'd get - the entire last portion of that movie left me in tears. This trilogy is honestly really nostalgic for me, and it still gets me today.

How to train your dragon is one of the most touching movies I have ever seen it gives me a lot of emotions about friendship and love and many other lessons of the movie.

You just have to watch a TV series about dragons, not only because of the awesome connection with the second part and the explanation of some things (like Stoick's dragon and Hiccup's sword) but also because of the plot in principle. They dive deeper into what happened on that 5 year gap between the first film and this. They expand on Hiccup and Astrid's relationship, Hiccup and his dad, as well as flesh out the rest of the gang, and how Berk adapted to living with dragons. You should also watch the Gift of the Night Fury holiday special because the events of that are referenced in the next film. And if you like watching Astrid and Hiccup's relationship develop (since when have they been engaged, for example) then you just won’t be able to stop watching this series))))

They are Legend of the Boneknapper Dragon, Gift of the Night Fury, Book of Dragons, Riders of Berk, Defenders of Berk, Dawn of the Dragon Racers, Race to the Edge, Homecoming, and The Nine Realms.

Brilliant commentary! I don't think there's gonna be another film, but there are four tv series set at various times between the first and second films and in the modern world; Dragons: Riders of Berk, Dragons: Defenders of Berk, Dragons: Race to the edge, and Dragons: The Nine Realms. I personally think that they're at least As good as the films if not better, although admittedly, they have worse quality imagery. The villains also have (in my opinion) way better backstory, logic, and lines, such as Dagur, Viggo, Krogan, Alvin, the traitor I'll call "J" and Savage as well. You get to know the characters way better too, and there's loads more of the twins, Ruffnut and Tuffnut 's humour, such as Tuff's Chicken, Ruff's "relationship" with Throk, and the Macy obsession. We get to see Fishlegs' and Hiccup's friendship and Snotlout hilariously failing to flirt with Astrid, Hiccup and Astrid's engagement, Hookfang humiliating Snotlout, and loads more amazing characters too, such as Mala, Heather, Dagur the Deranged, Throk, Atali, Mildew, Alvin the Treacherous, Gustav, Savage, Viggo, Ryker, Krogan, Trader Johan, and so many more. There are loads of new dragons, such as the Eruptodon or Great Protector, the Triple Stryke, Shattermaster (who is really just a gronkle, but a very good one), the Razorwhips, Fireworms, the Fireworm Queen, the Submaripper, the Shellfire, the Scauldron, the Screaming and Whispering Deaths, the Death Songs and Garfenjorg, the Singetails, and even a glimpse of where the Bewilderbeasts came from. It ties up a lot of loose ends, such as where Gobber and Stoick got their dragons, as I said before, how Hiccup and Astrid got engaged, who Gothi is, how everyone got stupidly good at fighting, and why you hardly ever see any dead dragons. Then there's the Nine Realms, and that's...well. It's possibly worth watching, I found it tedious and slightly sad that they essentially got rid of Hiccup's world by moving 1300 years into the future, but DEFINITELY watch the others first, if you're going to.

Don't worry I think you look great, it's always good to just relax and watch a film you enjoy without having to get all ready to go lol

There are three 20 minute shorts to watch if you loved the movies. Legend of the Boneknapper Dragon. The gift of the Night Fury. How to Train your Dragon: Homecoming. The first two take place before the second movie. The third is just before the end of the last movie.

There is actually a new series on HBO Max set in the present day. There's only one season so far as it's so new. It's not exactly the same quality as the originals but it's still entertaining and gives some nostalgia.

Firstly, You...Are...GORGEOUS! 😊💜 Now to one of my favorite movie trilogies ever, DreamWorks did a fantastic job with these films and I truly feel they should be discussed as much as Shrek and Puss in Boots.

I know my comment is a bit late but i do have some info about the HTTYD series. There are a few HTTYD short films each around 30 minutes long as well that full in the gaps between the movies, Race to the Edge takes place between the first and second movie and Defenders of Berk between the second and third movie The is also Gift of the Night Fury which is a Christmastime holiday special. Dean DeBlois who wrote and directed all three movies was at first very adamant that there would only be three movies but demand for a fourth movie has been so great that a fourth movie is in the works and is set for release in 2025 with Dean back as writer and director so we may just get our wish. One more little treat, for those who love the fireplace asmr's for Christmas there is a 28 minute HTTYD asmr called Snoggletog Log where all the characters from the third movie show up at various times throughout including Hiccup and Astrid's children and the Night Lights, Dart, Pouncer and Ruffrunner (Toothless and Light Fury's children. It's really funny and very cute.

I love that Hiccup changed in every movie.

So I'm not sure if I was the only one but I watch this with a friend who like the movies but not in the same way I like I believe this is one of the best trilogies out of DreamWorks I remember when I watched this especially at the end I looked at my friend and telling them you may not see it but I'm crying right now because also going into this movie the promotions were just like straight up telling you yeah this is the final movie this is where the story ends and so that ending for me personally was everything

32:38 y'know I hadn't thought about it before but in a way that kinda makes sense? It's been years since I watched this but I once saw a behind the scenes thing for the first film that mentioned Toothless being partially inspired by cats, while the Light Fury looks far more aquatic, so for the mix of them to resemble a marine mammal like a killer whale would actually work pretty well in that sense (of course it's likely that it was just a coincidence because of the black and white patterning, but still :P)

Don’t know if you would be interested, but just to let you know there’s actually a lot more httyd content out there from multiple specials and quite a few seasons of tv shows (Riders/Defenders of berk and Race to the edge both of which take place inbetween the 1st and 2nd movie and features most if not all the main cast reprising their roles). Completely optional viewing but a good time none the less I think, whether you watch it on your own on the channel or not at all just wanted to let you know it’s there if you want more of this amazing series.

Ms Clariss, this is just a suggestion. I understand it might not happen. But as an actress, I would strongly suggest an Australian TV series called Farscape. Almost every single person involved in that show has gone on to bigger and better things because of this mind-boggling series. The short plot: An astronaut-scientist by the name of John Crichton is testing a new vessel in orbit of Earth and also, his own theory : Can a ship be slingshoted around the planet and achieve enough velocity to reach the Moon or other planets. What he doesn't know is very ancient and very powerful alien race visited Earth in the past hoping to colonise it. They discovered humans were here already and they moved on. They didn't travel by ships, but by artificial wormholes. And they left one of these in orbit, but the combination lock was not a sequence of numbers, but a velocity. A speed that was determined by them that human's were not going to achieve until we grow up a lot. Crichton however broke the lock and was transported at random through their network and spat out on the far side of the galaxy. The rest of the five year arc of the story is him trying to get home. As he said, 'all those great sci-fi directors were dead wrong.' Brilliant, bizarre and beloved.

Grimmel used the Light Fury to get to Toothless, but she took him away to the Hidden World. Grimmel only gets Toothless because Hiccup takes the gang to Grimmel, leaves Ruffnutt there, who leads Grimmel to them, and then Hiccup brings Toothless back.
