He would never change expressions. He had confidence in his actors. He knew that if he just explains the shots to them, they would delivery. He was an actors' director. He was a principled director. He was strict. Silence during a shot meant silence. During rehearsal, your focus should be on your shot. Action reaction required your focus. He was such an individual. Such an amazing man. We had heard about him from childhood. Whether your shot comes at 2 pm, you will have breakfast with me and remain on set. 'Not to question'. I could not reason. I would wear the zari saree with heavy jewellery. I would get up before 10 am, by 7 am, to do make-up, do my hair. It was hot in Mysore, in May, in the palace. "
