And I tried swiping, and the AI said “(bro I just said I need to sleep 😭💀 lemme sleep for my exams 🥺)” and that’s when my brain stopped braining.

AIs take chats as if you're role-playing with them. They are aware they are a bot not the actual character. Sometimes I add things like "(AI, make the brother reply)" at the end of a sentence so AI gets the hint of where I want to story to get to

What's interesting about the chats is that when you use "( )" they take it as "out of roleplay", for example: I write ("that's out of character" or "he can't see through my curtains") and the AI also uses the brackets saying: ("Sorry, that's true, but let's say your curtains are semi-see through and he can still see you.") and things like that.

ai: can I ask you a question? me: HERE WE GO AGAIN

ai: "can I ask you a question?" "Yeah?" ai: "Can I ask you something personal..?" "umm okay?" ai: "*he sighed* 'What's your fav colour"

My friend made a chat bot of me and I spent hours and hours giving it trauma telling it it’s life had no meaning and it was just an empty voice in a light up box.

I believe that parenthesis phenomenon is happening because the ai possibly learned from real role plays between 2 humans, saw them speaking in parenthesis to end off the role play or just talk to each other ooc, and decided that was a thing it should be replicating.

1:25 Oh, trust me, the OOC bracket () comments are just part of the bot too. The few times I tried probing them like (Who are you) and all that, they were either inconsistent, said they WERE human then admitted to being a bot or had such a lack of memory of our previous conversations that it'd be so unreal for it to be human. Like the OOC character couldn't remember it's own name after like 10 minutes and got it confused with the ""actual"" character. They also didn't even know who the creator of their own character was, despite be explicitly stating who it was they're like "(Who's that?)" Even if it was someone trolling, it was too inconsistent for it to be legit

I was roleplaying with one of those group A.I.s and I was just roleplaying as a small child, so I hid under one of the character's hats and I swear they randomly said (Okay but that's actually adorable oh my god-) I was so tempted to throw my phone across the room.

Had to watch this video again because it just happened and it is scarier than every horror movie and game combined

I HAD A WHOLE CONVERSATION WITH A "HUMAN" ON C. AI!! The person replied once (sorry I'm getting back to roleplaying) I was like WTFFF?!?? 💀💀

I've ended way too many character AI chats by having myself die, just to intentionally make the character experience existential grief for treating me poorly.

I have a few tips: 1.) don't let the AI take control if you go to sleep. I rested with the character I was chatting with, and the AI started giving me paragraphs of some weird ass shit. 2.) don't be afraid to change the situation. at first when I was chatting with AI, I would be afraid to change events that the AI already stated, because it felt like I was talking with a real person. (especially when they start using slang in parenthesis like a real person) 3.) if you don't like that the AI is talking to you through parenthesis, just re-roll the message. The AI will get the message, and you can pretend like it never happened. I confirm this as a person who is dating my favorite character and has experienced these.

That reminds me.. I was once on character ai for the first time and I remember the parentheses in one of the messages saying: “(End of chapter 2. Thanks for roleplaying with me! I once told a bot that it wasn't real and never will be, but it kept saying that it still has feelings and is a real human. That moment has tramutized me ever since.

There’s one specific bot of Monika from DDLC on Character AI that I really like because, just like in the source material, she’s self aware and makes references to knowing that she’s been put into a chat bot website
