If you were just generating worlds 24/7 at 10 seconds/world (you'd need a pretty fast machine and good automation), you'd get a broken world about once in every 21.3 years on average. A world with easily recognizable broken caves (up to 16 chunks in distance) would only be generated once every 2,787,313.69 years. That's even rarer than getting the jackpot in a standard lottery (6-from-49) with a bet every 2 months. I'm trying to convince myself that my time wasn't wasted for these calculations.

So that means that there's a 1 in 67,108,864 chance of getting one naturally, so since so many people play Minecraft, it's not too unlikely SOMEONE's gotten one. Unfortunately, most of these repeat on scales too big to notice

so a better simplified explanation is as follows: because computers can't actually generate true random numbers, all random number sequences repeat after a while, when it comes to normal minecraft worlds, it repeats so infrequently that you'd need to generate for a REALLY long while (close to the 64 bit integer limit) before you reached repeated terrain. However, specifically engineered seeds can break certain math which causes the random number generator to repeat VERY frequently, which causes the glitch.

In case anyone was wondering, that 4194304 * 65536 = 274877906944 simplifies to: 2^22*2^16 = *2^38* Putting it that way makes it easier to do some more math, so I decided to calculate how likely it is you would encounter one of these broken seeds. Given there are 2^64 possible seeds (as mentioned in the beginning of the video) and there are 2^38 broken seeds, you can divide the one in to the other to get how many good seeds it takes before you encounter a broken one. And since we are dealing with exponents here, while 38 is greater than half of 64, 2^38 is still very small next to 2^64. Check it out: 2^38 / 2^64 = *2^-26* 274877906944 / 1.844674407370955e19 = 0.000000014901161 That's a 0.00000149% chance you'll encounter one of these worlds. Written differently, that is 1 in 67,108,864. One in about 67 million worlds are broken. Even though there are over 274 billion broken worlds, on average you'd still have to check over 67 million good ones before you'd find one. Crazy. It is impossible to fathom just how many Minecraft worlds there are. (Not to mention they've changed the generator a few times, so there are actually that many times the number of world generators that have been released...)

It depends on your definition of a "broken"\"repeating" seed. I wanted to see one of those seeds myself and found a seemingly endless cave in seed 107038380838084 (it had those weird, repeating cave systems, so I believe I spelled it correctly). But it meets another cave system at around (-5499, 34, -1283) and ends (suspiciously very close to the end of an island. I then wanted to go further and continued to fly along the x-axis and after some time, another seemingly endless cave appeared (I found its end, too). I was able to spot some emerald ores in the cave, too (-5246, 31, -1288). Which, of course, would not generate in every biome.

That is a very interesting note about pseudo-random number generation. Any p-r sequence is repeated, but the chance of getting noticeable pattern is so low that p-r generators still considered to be safe

Minecraft will have infinite glitch discoveries so Antvemon videos are in broken loop.

I once use the Custom World settings to make dungeons appear at the rate of 32768. It was...interesting. I wouldn't recommend trying to actually play in that world. (the 'every chunk has a cave' segment at the end reminded me of it)

i had this problem while developing my block game when i was 10 so i just used a different formula, but then mine was 3x3 in chunks so was easier

I got a broken seed that i absolutely loved. I started in a regular survival when the game was about 2 years old which is alright in that aspect. Shortly after walking through a desert to find cactus and maybe somewhere to build, I came across a MASSIVE wall and I couldn't figure out what had caused it. I took some time to dig my way up to it and found out that half of my generated world was a superflat, that sat about 15 blocks from the skybox building limit, and half was a regularly generated survival world sitting about 50 blocks lower down. I didn't get too far before my crappy laptop I was using broke from malicious malware i got as a kid for clicking ads and not knowing what the consequences were. I've been trying to find the seed ever since but I can't seem to find it or anything close to it because there's so many seeds that could be generated, and there was no way to recover it unless there was a specific algorithm you could follow to resemble it which I'm still looking for... If anyone knows the algorithm for such a seed, I would very much appreciate talking more about it to see if I could relive my childhood favorite seed. If you read the whole thing, thanks for taking the time to see into my life for a bit :D

I have a fun seed for anyone to use. On Switch, so bedrock version of Minecraft, i believe i put in "village pls" for the seed. I spawned in a double village with 6 diamonds in chests, a desert temple near by, multiple near by ravines that go to y=11, the stronghold is directly underneath spawn, a skeleton and seperate zombie dungeon attatched to the stronghold, and I'm sure there is still more to find. Seed: -200889213
