ACU Belles BTC Round 1 Report:
The start of the Ladies British Championships and my second season in the Ladies Intermediate Championship was upon us. It was nice to turn up to this first round not consumed by anxiety and pressure like I did at the start of last season, which I think shows a lot of personal development in my Sport Psychology. Even more proud of my mental state considering I’d been ditched by my minder a couple days before so I was fending for myself at this Round🫣
I got Santos ready, got kitted up, collected my number and and punch card, got scrutineered and then chilled in preparation for my start time!
10:37 came around and off I went.
A lot of the sections were fairly simple as rain had been anticipated, but that didn’t mean you could shut off as it can be so easy to drop stupid dabs by losing focus. Unfortunately I had an incident at Section 11 on Lap 1. I had a 5 and was like ow my thumb hurts, I got my punch card done, rode to section 12, took my glove off to reveal my thumb absolutely pissing out blood as I’d somehow managed to rip off half my nail. I shot back to my van, pulled off the bit of nail that was hanging on, got the bleeding stopped, covered my wound and cracked back on. I battled through the pain of my thumb for the rest of the trial, dropping a mere 23 points total, 15 of which was on Section 11 where the injury occurred, but sadly that put me joint 6th with my mate Issy. But I really can’t be upset with that performance as I believe I dropped more last year on the first lap, than I did this year over the 3 laps. It just spurred me on to push even harder for Round 2 the next day💪🏻
I got the bike washed in the evening, picked up Max, cleaned up my thumb, we went out for a delicious steak at Miller & Carter for recovery food and got a good sleep at Premier Inn just down the road from Seymours ready to go again✊🏻💨
