I owned a 981 Bosxster S and it was a dope car, with some snows on it even a good winter car. Compared to a NA2, the Porsche requires less maintenance, great handling, good acceleration, great breaks, great interior, lots of tech, great build quality, and worth every penny..............at the end of the day, it’s a Porsche. With all that said, hands down I’d rather have a NA2 Targa. I’ve alotta seat time in both and there’s just something about a Honda.

I am the fortunate owner of a 2004 Laguna Beach Blue NSX. I love my NSX. It is my 3 season daily driver. When I bought it, I was looking for a Ferrari 348. After hearing the horror stories of reliability, I realized I did not want a garage queen. The idea that I can have a car that is wonderful to drive and has the reliability of an Accord sold me. Thanks for the great review!

I have my second one with over 500 rear wheel hp that will smoke anything under half a million dollars, including the new model coming out 2015. Once you've owned one, you will always want another. Now with true modern super car power and brakes, I'm satisfied. My Corvettes were pinky ring cars, my Porsches finicky and expensive. My Mercedes SL is smoother and more luxurious, yet… this beauty increases with value like real estate, and increases in enjoyment as I become a better driver. One of the rarest things in automobiles, a timeless, brilliant ride that thrills one every time you get in, and is as reliable as a honda accord. Cruize around quietly with 25 mpg, or put your foot in it and eat a Viper. It doesn't get better than this.

These cars are legendary. The fact that an almost 20 year old NSX is still above 30 grand shows you the value of this car. Up here in Canada, Supra's and Skyline's are also starting to go over 30 grand in prices for the good ones. Yes you can get a showroom car for that much money with modern technology, but these sportscars are legendary forever and will always hold their value. Plus how many cars can you name today that drive as good or better than the NSX, in that price range. Please don't reply with your stupid paddle shifter and nanny-powered 1000 hp cars. Drivers cars please !! P.S. Everyday Driver, so glad you guys are back at making amazing videos for us. Cheers !!

Absolutely. I haven't quite owned one for a year yet and already, I can assure you, people notice an NSX. Not the club kids, not the hip crowd, not the ladies for sure. But genuine car guys know it and respect it for what it is. Definitely a conversation starter. People will want to ask you about it. Of course, if that doesn't sound appealing (can't say I blame you, it's tiring sometimes - which is one reason I don't drive it every day), there's always the Porsche/Corvette/etc.

It's truly a visceral experience, I've spent a good amount of time driving my friend's 96 NA1 and it definitely takes time to get used to. I have an AP1 S2000 and expected a LOT my first time in the seat and was left a little disappointed, it wasn't until my third or fourth time taking it out that I understood the differences. The steering ratio REALLY takes time to get used to, second gear is too tall on the 5-speed for tight canyon runs, and it just feels SOFT in the canyons compared to an AP1. I think the car really shines at higher speeds, as mentioned in the review, versus hitting tight switchbacks in the canyons. You just have to hit a long sweeper and let the engine scream behind your head. My dream is to park one next to my S2000 one day...

rjmari They could still make profit while making good cars. They don't have to make supercars or even sportscars (it would be great if they did), but they could still make their current line up better than it is now. Honda right now couldn't hope to compete with Toyota and Nissan, in all areas except "safety". Acura is the same, have you seem Acura's interiors lately? They are hideous compared to Lexus's and Infiniti's.

ewt415 making good sports cars makes a great commercial advertisement honda declared since the 2005s they're gng green and subtle which is ironic since they're great engine makers and extreme sports machines like bikes etc
@rjmari
@rjmari 10 жыл бұрын
ewt415 I'd have to disagree with you. The Accord is miles better than the Camry. And it does have a sport version. And the Civic Si is also a very sporty small car. Many call the Honda Fit the best in its class, and it is also quite sporty for what it is. And don't forget that outside of the US, they still sell the Type R. Toyota is so vanilla in comparison. Now NIssan on the other hand...the Altima and Accord are well-matched. And the new NSX will compete with the GT-R. Can't wait for that one. But it is too bad Accord has no answer for the 370z at the moment. Maybe if they bring back the S2000...
@rousseau327
@rousseau327 10 жыл бұрын
rjmari I concur to the Accord part, but keep in mind Toyota has Lexus, which is arguably the leading luxury Japanese automaker, while Acura is extremely poor in comparison.

I think part of the price is really the legacy. Although Porsches are AMAZING cars, almost everyone to have driven an nsx can express that there is something about it unidentifiable through words. I think for that very reason, and the fact that Porsches are in great abundance compared to the nsx, is the reason why it has held it's price for a 20+ year old car

You cannot find 300zx for under 6k unless it's a base model, but who wants the base model? I want the fairlady Z twin turbo. Those are 15 and up in a good condition, as for the NSX I found the a 1991 NSX with 35k miles for just 3k, I will check it out to see what's wrong with it and if it worth taking the gamble on it.
@MTLJack

There's tons of 300zx in Canada twin turbo under 6000$, no one wants a twin turbo because they always break down and parts are EXPENSIVE because you have to order from japan most of the times. NSX for 3000$? the engine alone is worth more than that lol. Its probably 30k

40k for a "20 year old car"? This is no civic. Reviewers hardly have any complaints about the NSX and almost always mention that special something that can't be quantified or put in words about it that puts the NSX in a league of its own. The NSX hasn't lost anything over time, calling it a 20 year old car is a pointless insult.

Memo to Paul, the $37k you are worried about vs buying a cayman S...you'll get your money back if you ever have to sell the NSX, meanwhile the cayman will loose money for sure...there is a reason early model NSX's are still going for $30-40k.....they are a rare piece of automotive history, not a dime a dozen Porsche ...I am on my 3rd one in the last 11 years and always sold for more then I bought for after enjoying them for three or more years...

You guys forgot to mention that all NSX's have the all- aluminum monocoque body and as well as a full-aluminum engine! That really is one of the biggest reasons why the NSX is very unique. Also, inflation made the price of aluminum very high over time. Which is why you can still see pretty ridiculous pricing on many NSXs.

Very attractive... ever since i first saw the nsx it instantly was the best honda ever created and will continue to be for years to come. Even the new NSX that honda is planning on in my opinion doesnt compare. There is a certain feel to the look of this car that no other car can compare to. I definitely think the car is more visibly attractive compared to its power output but thats a sacrifice id be more than willing to make. I think a nice supercharger kit would make this car about 10 times more fun.

I had the opportunity to drive one of these once. It was a 95 model. It was very sharp and precise. But I agree it just needs a TINY bit more power. not much more, It's close to where it needed to be. It's a car that shines when you can carry momentum through a corner and really carve it like a surgeon.

Love these. God bless Senna. And it's I-air-ton, not Air-ur-ton. As ever, a great video. Keep them coming!

A million years ago, I owned the first affordable mid engine sports car--the Fiat X 1/9. It was a '75 and I had it for 3 yrs. Ive been looking for another mid-engine ever since---almost got a Boxter a couple yrs ago. But hey, the NSX is on the list. If you've never driven a mid-engine, there's nothing quite like it. The Fiat was under powered, but I was a kid and it kept me out of too much trouble.

I really like that you guys are making the graphics and animation new and different. That said, I would like to see a faster presentation in the beginning with the "everyday driver" logo. It's kinda lethargic considering the channel is about driving cool cars kinda fast. Just my opinion-either way, thanks for working so hard for your subscribers!

So much want. Thanks for addressing the crazy prices should do an e36 m3 review since it beat out the nsx as best handling car back in the day ;)

Bravo! Some of your best work ever! An observation: the Cayman, without doubt a great car, may be comparable for less money but it doesn't have the rarity, presence, or historical impact of the NSX. Thats why NSXs cost more now and likely will cost even more in the future.

The price of the old NSX is high because of it's legendary status. Many examples are actually appreciating in value at this time. It changed the automotive world more than any car of its time, thrusting it into the collector spotlight early. Plus... it's a Honda/Acura product. It's going to last. Say what you want about NSX being a ricer, but one thing is for certain. It's going to last longer, hold value better and turn more heads going down the street than some mullet head in a modern day American muscle car.

I commend you guys for taking price into consideration unlike motortrend and the others that test a 150,000 carerra vs the new c7

These cars are a blast to drive, a friend has a 91 with no A/C or power steering and it's a blast to drive, car is so light it doesn't even need power steering.
