I gotta thank you my friend, I am far from mechanically inclined but because of this video I changed my alternator out on my 08 Acura TL with nothing more than a 16 piece rachet set and I wouldn't have been able to get it done without this video. After hearing another YT video with the actual sound problem I was having with my 2008 Acura TL, came to this vid and swapped it (mostly) no problem. As others have said, the lowest rad fan mounting bolt is a PITA. But the actual alternator swap was a cinch.

Excellent Video . The only thing different on my 2005 TL was a single wire assembly that was connected to the side of the fan housing . It had to be removed before I could pull the fan/ shroud out .

Great video I have 07 TL S Anything else with wiring issues mi e being a flood reconstructed with under 88k miles any feed back would be great liked and subscribed. Trying to find video on exactly put back. Had battery light on then flickering Navi. No lights loss of power jump start no reverse and idle was up n down any suggestions 07 Tl type S

peace....excellent video brother...the only difference with mine is that i have an 07 rl and i just went to replace my alternator and the bolt for the fan i have to take the cover off under the car to get to it cannot get it from the top...smh had the alternator disconnected .. thanks again

Wasn’t sure if the pulley bolt is supposed to turn or if im supposed to force it enough to just move it off the alternator but now my belt is completely all over the place and i have no clue how to put it back so now im gonna have to probably pay a mechanic 😴

Do you know what the torque specs are for the bolts? Replaced alternator and set torque for 60lbs and bolt broke

i torqued mines 35-40Ibs. Put you some lock tight on the end of your bolts then tighten them without putting alot of force on it and ull be fine..

You should be able to get to it from the top looking down. Just loosen the 2 and the fan will slide right out.

That’s crazy you only got 3-4 years on an alternator! Lifetime warranty is a must! I still have my original alternator on my 04 and it’s going strong after 16 years and 201k miles. Aftermarket is way cheaper tho. OEM alternators are around 500-550 from the dealer

Yea, i think it came from the system we had in the trunk, plus the parasitic draw from the hands free communication and then a weak battery was a combination for my disaster.. you are right tho 100 pct

Did you use an extension or anything to get that 14mm out? The wheels on the serpentine belt are too close without my extension and with the extension my ratchet won’t fit

What’s up, I was under the impression from a couple videos that I had to remove the bolt from the tensioner pulley. Learned quickly that that’s not the case and the bolt snapped in it. Did I just really sign a death certificate for my car💀

Na, u can get it retapped and put another bolt in. theres always a way to get around any issue..

Mine stuck in Delaware from PA shit hard to get towed to the crib I have no parking but a side street. Anything on fuses relays be helpful other than obvious checking with multi meter the TLs always in famous for same things any advice any1 car will start... was giving.me.nothing but.clicks rapidly sometimes.

Nvm I went through the bottom BUT how’d he get the belt off, I’m been trying with my torque wrench but it won’t budge

Did this fix the problem? I'm a Honda/Acura tech and I have had to replace alternator fuse as they blow or worse is the PCM under dash can go bad and learned long ago to check back of alternator for 12v coming in and 14.5 out.Checking at battery does not tell the exact issue always.Those 3.0 are good engines but like the k2.0 & k2.4 best.

Yessir, the issue was solved by changing the alternator, still want to drive it a few more dys to make sure the problem does not occur again.

@ramman question. If the alt fuse or pcm goes bad, does that cause the alternator to get hotter than hell? Pretty sure my alt went bad today. Had that whirring noise on my drive home. But man when I got it parked, it smelled like burning plastic/rubber. Popped the hood and saw the Alt and the main terminal connection cover smoking. I gave it a touch and it instantly gave me a burn so bad it blistered. I’ve read that a bum diode can cause it to mess up the ac-dc conversion and cause it to get hot as hell. But I’ve never had this happen before. Looking for advice

get the alternator tested at 1 of ur local part stores. they can tell u if its loosing amperage or if its the battery..

You don’t remove the tensioner. When you pull/push the bolt it releases the tension the belt

Had mine get shot today (06 TL). But yo. The fuckin thing was smoking and made that big black wire cover melt. You ever seen that before? Trying to determine if I should just DIY it or take it to professional help

You can do it yourself. Trace the wire thats melted, figure out what it was touching to get hot like that. Replace and reroute the wire then install the alternator. You got this.

My headlight flicker on and off, my radio will do the same, power mirrors move on their own. Battery is brand new, and it completely died on me a week after I bought it, so I’m guessing the alternator. If anyone here can confirm or have any ideas, please let me know.
