Prior to Ada walking in, Diana sees her outside and says "So she dresses well" and asks the butler to find out what kind of jacket she's wearing. Then, in a bout if insecurity, she gets out the vase to do what she did with Lizzie - assert dominance by showing how smart she is (I hated how she treated Lizzie 😭) But Ada begins to talk about the background of the vase etc and asserts dominance right back. A true Shelby.
@andro99991
@andro99991 Ай бұрын
I didn't hate it. Lizzie is the most boring female character on the show, good or bad. There is nothing remarkable about her, no wit, no personality - she's just there all the time. Shelby probably married her because he was blaming himself for the death of his first wife so he married/spent time with this one as a form of self-punishment.

Most of season 2 only happened because of Tommy's lust for more money and territory that he didn't need. The show doesn't really hide that his personal drive is what allows him to achieve great things, but also pushes him to make, frankly, pointless and idiotic risks.

@@Ayou0811 Not quite. Whether she intervened or not, Tommy would have actually stopped the gang war (like basically did after shooting billy kimber in the head). I think this is foreshadowing for Ada becoming the new head of Shelby Company Ltd. She’s always been witty but we never actually learned what she did for the company when she was in the US. Yes she became Tommy’s political advisor in S5 but she was clear in s6e1 that she didn’t work for them anymore. She steps in here when needed, and I think we’re all worried for what’s going to happen to Tommy. What other scenario is she going to have to “step in” for? 😢

I question if everyone who is surprised by Ada's wit everyone watched the show. She was pretty much a child sheltered by her family in S1, we've seen her grown since her husband's death. Also, you forget Polly raised her. She is not "taking" Polly's line. For sure she would not have had so much screentime to shine if Polly was here, but that spark was always there. You forget she cussed out the Blinder's and Kimber's men with her baby in S1, now she has money and does it with a little more class lmao

@@1stfire_shadow Bruh, you just associated a bunch of characteristics with Ada without explaining how she is like so. Sure, I would say she is relatively clever but then again not as much as Tommy or Polly. And I don't think you know what being witty is because she strays away from that. How is she righteous, exactly? She knows how to rough it? Hardly believe that because she plays a major part in whining or complaining. People have to remember that Ada had to step up now that her Aunt Polly is gone. So yes some of her lines are going to seem off because the writers are having her act like Polly. It's going to fill the missing space the character left behind. However If Ada's character gradually becomes a little bit more like her Aunt over the course of the season her lines might be believable later. It will just show Ada learned a lot from her aunt. Regardless, Diana is lucky she got Ada instead of Polly. Better to have a equal than knowing your already out macted. Polly isn't too subtle about her dislike towards people and she'll let you know if you should look over your shoulder if you cross her.

Btw all that **** in episode two about Diana hating Paris... The real Diana Mitford lived there for the last 50 years of her life. Apparently she loved the city.

That's just where British social and political exiles went, even before the Regency. She didnt love it, it was just what was done. Its where The Duke of Windsor went and he first had to have permission fron the Sovereign to set foot on Englush soil.

This convo also showed the differing priorities between the Mosley’s and Thomas. The American was running late, Mosley didn’t want to meet because Thomas wasn’t coming. Thomas wasn’t coming because he wanted to tend to Ruby’s illness. This is meaningless to Diana as she’s more focused on “ruling the world” but we all know how that ended for her.

Notice how pridefully Diana says her vase was stolen; much like Tommy in episode 2; saying he 'stole it from Tiffany's'. It's almost as if she's mimicking him.
