Singer-songwriter Adam Lambert talks about his upcoming covers album and explains why it's the right time in his career to delve into other artists' catalogues. The project, called "High Drama," is Lambert's follow-up to his 2020 release, "Velvet."

I love the way adam makes music and sings song’s the way he wants he never try’s to make them sound like the original singers and that’s what I like about him even when he’s doing Queen songs he doesn’t try to be Freddie Mercury he does them his way. I can’t wait to hear his knew cover version of songs on this new album if it’s like all his other song’s it will be brilliant.🥰🎶👌🌈

I just watched the video for Ordinary World and left the comment "hauntingly beautiful", then saw this this video where Adam says there will be some haunting badlands. I thought I was being overly dramatic by using the word "haunting"...So, I'm ALL FOR HIGH DRAMA! This album sounds like it's going to be awesome, but I expect nothing less from the extremely dramatic, talented Mr. Lambert. ❤️🔥❤️

God, can‘t wait for the album! Ordinary World is one of the very best pop songs. I‘m a child from the 80‘s. (i‘m slightly over 50 now) I mean, i love Queen & Freddie SO much. (also Duran Duran and many others). Now, Adam is here and i‘m totally blown away since i saw him live with Queen, twice! ADAM - THANK YO SO MUCH FOR DOING THIS! My wife and me LOVE YOU SO MUCH! Your work with Queen & your very own songs!!! The collaboration with Nile Rodgers is, man, i‘m still searching for the right words … so F**** DAMN GREAT - Roses is still one of my fav songs of all time! Please never stop beeing YOU Adam, we love you really, really! Would hear more of your solo material on a Queen Show, but i understand, that this would be very difficult for many people. 😊 So, our best wishes for your new album - we can‘t wait to hear it! Ordinary World is just perfect! And we hope to see you live again very soon around Europe! Lots of love from little Austria to one of the greatest performers and one of the nicest artists ever out there! And … Freddie is proud of you, for sure! 😊

Like how the cover songs are going to be his versions, instead of covering them point on like most artists/bands. The dynamic array of songs/artists Adam is covering, very intriguing as well. From Boy George, to Duran Duran (can't wait to hear that), Pink, etc. His release Velvet in 2020 was stellar. Incredible production, great arrangements (IMHO), songs.

I love Adam to bits, but Jobriath is not a guy. It is the name of a band who's lead singer was Bruce Wayne Campbell. Regardless, I can't wait to hear Adam's version of the song, I'm a Man. I'm sure he will do it justice and make it special with his own spin.

let's be honest . . . . if adam's solo career had taken off, he probably would not be going back to covers, since he had wanted to distance himself from that. but on another note, i do not understand why he could not hold velvet back until he could carry out all the plans he had made for it. why did he need to release it when he did????

I think honestly that Velvet was good but not great. I have loved Adam and his voice since the first time I saw him but his solo work is not great. I own every album! He has great ideas but they just aren’t appealing enough to be smash hits. I understand he must have been frustrated wanting his own music. He tours with Queen in the summer and is amazing but does his own thing the rest of the year. He’s 40 now! He wants to find his true love and maybe marry and adopt children like so many other gay men have instead of these 24 year old boyfriends he has been dating. A cover album might be just what he needs now. Everyone knows that he is underrated and he has the best voice out there so if the covers are as good as the two I have heard I can see him hit the charts in a big way. The Duran Duran song is already gaining a lot of attention. I think he has new management and I would ❤ to see him hit #1!

Be realistic. How long can one hold back releasing an album after it has been completed? He talked about Velvet quite a bit. It simply wasn’t his fault the stupid pandemic hit. The timing just didn’t work out. Even though, Velvet did quite well.

And how can you presume to know what Adam wants in his personal life? Perhaps it’s not marriage or children. And he seems very happy with his current love. They’ve been together for over 2 years now. I believe it’s one of his longest lasting relationships, so there must be a strong connection there. They both seem happy, that’s the most important thing. I wish them both the best.

He was perfect for the job and has done good to keep their names alive. However, is this all he's going to do? Stay under Fredy's shadow? I don't understand why no hits have come out of these guys. They have everything, but i guess he's no Freddy.

@@TheBohemianAngels he never imitate Freddie Mercury. Not once. Since 2011, it's been discussed by Sir Brian May, Roger Taylor Spike Edney and Adam Lambert. It's been discussed to death in thousands of interviews. There are at least 70 mimics worldwide who's been doing it, way before Adam Lambert acquiesced to join Queen. Paul Rodgers, Queens frontman 2004 to 2008 is not a mimic either.
