@@herbbearingseed Psalm 12:6-7, has nothing to do with the King James Bible. There was neither no kjv and textus receptus back then. The "words of the LORD" are the promises of safety made to the needy or the poor from a generation of wicked individuals who had oppressed them. The poor are those whom the LORD will preserve and not the 1611 kjv that came many years after.

Acts 12:4 Easter was celebrated in Biblical times. /sarcasm. King James Version "And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people." 1.) Nowhere within the KJV does it say God would use the KJV to preserve His word. 2.) The KJV is hardly the first authorized English Bible. 3.) It is certainly not the first Bible from an English king. 4.) The authorized KJV in 1611 authorized the Apocrypha. 5.) The KJV does in places quote from the Septuagint, thankfully. King James didn't like the Geneva Bible, the Bible favored by the English people, the Puritans left England with their Geneva Bibles to flee the Church of England and from being persecuted, and came to America. If only KJV people had a clue...

I think that Adam Nicolson who did this video did a wonderful job. Many years ago a lecturer told my class that the best way to improve your English was to read the Bible, but he said it has to be the King James version of the Bible. No other version will do. For a number of years I did just that. It improved my English grammar as I learned to understand what it is saying. Just reading it and learning to understand it improves your English grammar. Since then I have been learning Hebrew and Greek so I try to read it in the original languages. Those languages have improved my English grammar even more than the King James Bible. If you don't know English grammar very well then you can't learn Greek of Hebrew very well (particularly Greek).

KJV is based on the Original Received Hebrew and Greek Manuscripts. Modern Bible versions is based from the Critical Text like the Codex Alexandria, Codex Vaticanus, etc. and they have alot of missing verses and it's been only discovered in the late 1800s. I don't believe that God would allow his perfect words to be buried for many centuries. I believe that a Perfect God can Perfectly Preserve His Perfect Words all through out generation. and the english version of the Preserved Word of God is the KJV.

@hobo59 No single best in my opinion. Best bet is to have several on hand, and understand what type of translation is used (just read the preface). By that I mean is it dynamic (thought for thought) or formal (word for word). Most are accessible online. You might choose a literal translation like Young's (KJV is also fairly literal), a more loose translation like the NIV, and a less literal (but still mostly formal) like the ESV. Unfortunately, this is an emotionally charged subject for some.

God uses the most unusual people to accomplish His means. All thru the scriptures God picks the most unexpected people good and bad to accomplish His goals for mankind. The KJB is the result of God's God-breathed result of Him communicating to mankind who He is, What He wants and expects from us and the judgment toward those who choose not to cooperate with Him.

@chipk77 The Bible does not command people to abandon judgment, unless you seriously truncate the scripture. It cautions against -hypocritical- judgment and misjudgment (urging refined discernment) and reserves -final- judgment for the highest authority. There are far more exhortations to exercise wise judgment than there are cautions against it. Please don't paraphrase and edit to suit a singular argument.

@wisemanwiseguy I do believe. Apollos did all this and yet he did not have a completely accurate view of salvation. That is the point. This is a pattern with you - you seem to habitually miss the point. Priscilla and Aquila had to *explain* it to him. I note that you left off vs. 26, which demolishes your point: "When Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they invited him to their home and explained to him the way of God more adequately." You didn't even address my other points, which is telling.

The king James Translators themselves disagree with that statement. While the king James Bible is a beautiful translation, it can be fairly argued it is one of the least useful translations as many people today cannot understand it. The Bible itself even tells us to translate the Bible only in away so preserves the original meaning and so people can understand it. The King James Bible is very accurate translation, but in many ways it does change some of the meanings and many people cannot understand it

@PirateXzibit KJV is not the closest to either Hebrew or Greek, though it is sometimes better if, for instance, you know the difference between thee and thou. Our knowledge of languages and the manuscript quality has vastly improved in 400 years. The idea that the KJV is the best is typically based on the idea that God preserved the "true" Word in the Textus Receptus (although it is not the oldest and does not have the most manuscripts), but even then it is not the "best" translation.
@BillSheka

So which is the "best" translation there Chip??? And if you think OLDEST means BESTEST , then think again. And the CTs only had about 1400 manuscripts which do NOT even agree among themselves. Hhhmmmmmmmm,. LOCATION , LOCATION, LOCATION, God brought them out of Egypt for a reason. Alexandria is in Egypt. So why do you think that the Apostle Paul , NEVER , EVER went to Eqypt and especially Alexandria??? Come on , just your best guess. But the KJV and the TR manuscripts from which it comes , comprise nearly 5800 manuscripts. Your OLDEST as BESTEST arguments are full of holes and the 60 KJV Translators had your CORRUPTED CT manuscripts from Alexandria and they THREW them out for OBVIOUS reasons. You sound like you are trained in a formal Bible college which is corrupt and always in ERROR and you and your error riden professors always run back to Egypt. ALWAYS. The problem is (especially acute in evangelicalism) this idea that you can "do theology" from any English translation of the Bible. You need knowledge of the original languages, the culture, literature, textual criticism, and different translation methods (formal vs. functional equivalence) among other things. These difficulties led many to oppose "vulgar" translations.

@hobo59 That would certainly be a useful tool set, but every translation has its shortcomings. They key is knowing what those are and taking them into account. You can't really go wrong if you do that. I agree, though, the guidance of the Holy Spirit is ultimately what you need to understand the Scriptures, which I personally think can be achieved through all but the most obviously corrupt/slanted versions (e.g. the New World Translation by the JWs).

@wisemanwiseguy You are "explaining and correcting" the Bible as you have accused me of doing. Keep going. It's hilarious. You're saying it doesn't mean what it clearly means when taken literally. You are not only wrong in this argument, but you are extremely judgmental, which Jesus also commands us not to be. I'm sure you have an excuse for that as well, but I'm sure you don't think it's "explaining or correcting" anything.

Do ye not know that the saints shall JUDGE the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to JUDGE the smallest matters? I Corin 6:2 kjv. But you cannot even get the basic DOCTRINES down like the Doctrine of Judgement. Which God also commands the BELIEVER to not fellowship with silly gooses like you. It is the DOCTRINE of SEPARATION and is used to keep the BELIEVER from getting a bunch of LEVEN on him and becoming spotted like you are. You just cannot accept REBUKE, REPROOF or CORRECTION, or INSTRUCTION and God says your an UNWISE person and a scorner. II Tim 4:2-4 kjv, Prov 9:8 kjv, Prov 14:6 kjv, Prov 10:7 kjv, Since you have NO authority and have NO Word of God , you are in the FLESH and you cannot RIGHTLY DIVIDE the Word of Truth. II Tim 2:15 kjv. You cannot STUDY because you have no word of God. That word is no where to be found in ANY of your modern versions. It is removed by your buddies from Alexandria. First , you have to HAVE the Word of Truth , but you have already REJECTED that . Your scholarship is hardly helping you and it is a STUMBLINGBLOCK to yourself and others who do not really understand the importance of the PRESERVED Word of God, KJV 1611. But you can still HUMBLE yourself , and REPENT . It is the RIGHT thing to do. Or will your PRIDE rise up and choke the TRUTH from you again?

@wisemanwiseguy Ok, I'm not sure where your hang up is because I believe what the Scriptures say about themselves. Are you saying that if someone doesn't understand what a talent is (in the Parable of the Talents), you can't say, "oh, that's a whole lot of money and does not refer to someone's ability, i.e. being talented." Which might not be clear to someone unfamiliar with the Bible, that this is somehow pridefully revising the Bible? That's absurd. The Bible frequently needs explaining.

@wisemanwiseguy What are you talking about? King James is a great Bible, but it is not the best translation. Part of the reason is that 21st Century English is not the same as 17th Century English. The reason for the King James Bible was to put the Word of God in the hands of, and make it accessible to, all people. Why would you deny people today of the same benefit?

@OneVoiceMore I suggested no such thing as abandoning judgment, and I agree that is what "judge not" means. Unfortunately for your buddy, he is being a hypocrite, so it's quite applicable.

@wisemanwiseguy Wait, I though you believed the Bible. This says if you sin, you should cut off your hand, but you're claiming that's not true because of what some other verse says. Did you just *gasp* explain something in the Bible? How dare you! LOL. You have thoroughly refuted your own argument. Thanks!

@wisemanwiseguy I haven't made a fool out of myself with false accusations and factual errors. There are other examples that make my point, such as Apollos who knew both Jesus and the Old Testament, but needed to have things explained to him more clearly. The Epistles consist of correcting the doctrine of Christians who know Jesus. Christians didn't even have the complete Bible for centuries after Christ. You worship a translation, I'll stick with God.

You silly goose Chip. You worship a fake bible with FAKE Christians. Philo, Marcion, Origen , Eusebius and Wescott and Hort were NOT Christians . They hated the WORD of God and did everything in their power to destroy it and replace it with a corrupted version. If you knew the Bible then you would know this verse as well. Psalms 138:2 kjv "I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name." WHOOPS ,,,, you again do not know what your talking about. I find silly gooses like you all the time and their shallow knowledge of what is TRUTH and what is a LIE. You can stick with your "god" . It is not the God that some of us worship. Most of us CAME out from amongst them and we touch not the UNCLEAN thing. But you love it.

@chipk77 You're absolutely misrepresenting the entire verse to suit an argument. Wiseman did not quote 'some other verse'. He COMPLETED your misleading interpretation by simply expanding to the rest of the SAME CHAPTER, which clearly explains that you are selectively culling and cherry-picking scripture to generate a fallacious 'gotcha'. You lose.

@OneVoiceMore @OneVoiceMore Seriously, can you not read? Look about seven posts down. I said, "I AGREE." Hypocritical judgment is the point. The KJV only advocate is being a hypocrite and he doesn't realize it. He is accusing me of doing something (correcting the Bible - not to mention, that's what the KJV translators did) that he himself does, and the "quote" to which I was referring was the passage we were discussing. He tried to insert something into the passage that just isn't there.
