So true. I think the problem occurs when our base competence brings us either power or wealth and then we are surrounded by groupies who want to feed off the benefits of the money or power. Then we absorb the praise and begin thinking that we really are above the standard value of persons and act out our ignorance.

Understandable, although you should also be wary of those who are unsure of themselves as it does not necessarily indicate an actual understanding of the material but rather an understanding that there’s a lot that they don’t know, this means it can also indicate someone far more down to earth being a beginner. Meanwhile regardless of skill level uncertainty at crucial moments could lead to dreadful outcomes. Not saying to trust people just because they think they’re extremely competent, but don’t immediately trust people because they are aware that they have a lot to learn either.

I don't need to phyiscally prove the earth is round, and I don't need to prove the effectiveness of Vaccines. There are already trained professionals called "doctors' who can know better then me or you, much like I don't try to make my own bridges and rely on a professional's expertise. Why don't you go ask your doctor what diseases were wiped out in your country due to vaccines, instead of trying to spread misinformation, that could do something as ridiculous as causing a Mumps outbreak because people think the vaccine is a scam. www.opb.org/news/article/mumps-cases-swell-in-oregon/ Also, your spelling correction is incredibly petty, does neither you or your argument, any favours.

Dunning-Krueger Effect may be used to point out other's flaws/fallacies, but recognizing and being humbled by Blindspot Bias helps be an equalizer for identifying fallacies! Great study one that has a term like wine expert that is so vague it does not tell you they were enology students people that study wine not necessarily taste it some were not even 18 for very long but I guess that’s the dunning Kruger effect
@mementomori5580
@mementomori5580 3 жыл бұрын
Well that's not really true... the Problem here is that ARE oversimplified it. An actual expert can indeed differentiate between a 300 dollar and a 2 dollar bottle. But where it becomes difficult ist when it comes to a 30 dollar vs. a 300 dollar bottle because the industry, through research and testing, the flavour of cheap-ish wine (the 20-30 dollar, nut the 2-3 dollar bottle) to a degree that it is difficult to taste the difference in quality. BUT the other big problem with this is that the "wine experts" actually weren't really anyone with credentials. There is the title of "master sommelier", none of which were part of the study. But that is not surprising, considering that the title is connected with a difficult test and so far less than 600 people since the conception of that test were able to actually pass it. So actual true "wine experts" are an absolute rarity and they actually could tell the difference between a 3 dollar, 30 dollar and a 300 dollar wine bottle. Far more important is the observed behaviour that, the less you are enthusiastic about becoming and being a "wine expert", the less you care and notice about those expensive wines and the more you actually like the cheaper stuff. Which means that there is not even really a point into being able to tell the difference (because only those that can do that, care about the more expensive stuff to begin with).

It's basically the iceberg effect. You're standing on a boat in the arctic, you see an iceberg. From your perspective, it looks rather small as you can only see what's above the water. From the perspective of the diver, it looks much larger, but they are too close to see the big picture. What you see and what someone else sees are very different and no one will ever truly get a full understanding of that iceberg, but some will know more and some will only think they do.

More than 41% believe he is too. Great economy, low unemployment, relative peace abroad, few legimate scandals (Media driven hoaxes don't count), lower taxes, great originalist supreme court picks, elimination of ISIS (remember them?), and the reduction of regulation & bureaucracy. He is definitely a very flawed individual and I withheld all the negatives but all things considered I'd give him a B-

@@tann_man taking over an economy that was already rising after the previous president brought it out a recession and not putting much effort into its growth is not making a good economy... it's taking credit for someone else's work. Also it's not good to be close to having a recession by having an unnecessary trade war, ballooning the deficit, getting rid of regulations and protections that were supposed protect consumers and the environment, causing unsustainable fluctuations in the markets, etc. His job growth is slower than the last administration's and his tax cuts only effected the rich positively and raised the deficit. The previous president's regulations didn't adversely effect being he literally brought us out a recession from having 10% unemployment to 4.8% in 6 years after his first two years in. The current was given a fairly decent start and has barely kept pace slowing unemployment by only growing it by only 1.1% in the last 2 1/2 years. Plus the tariffs are killing American farmers. And healthcare costs have risen since he's taken over. Not to mention we're in a worse place with our allies as far as trust and our geopolitical enemies have been emboldened by the current president's praise of dictators. I give him a solid F. He is the best case study of the dunning Kruger effect

@@tann_man Also, he is absolutely not responsible for the fall of ISIS, that's on the Russia-Syria alliance and independent fighters like the Kurds. Trump literally didn't do anything about it. If anything he's strengthened US ties with countries suspected to have funded ISIS like Saudi Arabia.
