It's Adam Koralik here and today we're discussing the Bandai Playdia! This is a retro-active episode of my 5th generation recap videogame console series. I didn't originally own this console, but I do now!
I'm considering this part 4.5 as it wedges between episodes 4 and 5. Anyway, enjoy!

I actually prefer the videos on the obscure consoles, just because with the popular ones, everyone already has some understanding of their stories. I knew that the Playdia existed in Japan only, but other than that I knew nothing, so I really like the videos on the obscure consoles as there isn't alot of information on them. The Generational recap videos are my favourite videos on the channel and it's grear to see new ones being made.

The most famous thing on the Bandai Playdia is Dragon Ball Z: Plan to eradicate the Saiyan's which was a OAV that never saw a US release, until it was remade and placed as a bonus on the PS3 game Dragon Ball Raging Blast 2.

The Dragon Ball Z ones are actually interesting! Its a 2 part OVA, and it was released as 2 VHS tapes to be a companion to the Famicom game release, and those tapes got fansubbed and traded on VCDs through the 90's and early 2000's. -Matt

I remember around 1993 to 1995 there were a wave of new consoles that came out of no where. They offered CD playback, 3D graphics, and were often pricey. Sony Playstation was the only winner. I was confused in 1995 when I first encountered the Playstation at the video store. Why would I buy a game console from a company that makes Stereos, TVs, and Walkman's? It didn't feel right to me at the time. Which is why waited for Nintendo 64 instead. What a odd time in gaming history.
