Add a Character Dash in Unreal 5

In this video we create a forward dash ability for our character controller. This dash should work in other game types that aren't a SideScroller as well!

18:30 - Clamp End Dash Velocity

What a great video!! I'm glad you go into the clamp at the end of the dash too!! Also if you want to make it 3d movement where it doesn't matter which way you are facing, you can just do Get Last Input Vector instead of Get Forward Vector!!

Thanks for the awesome tut! Quick question, Can I make the dash system into a blueprint actor component? I'm new to unreal or game dev in general and I like how visual scripting feels very modular, so I was wondering how to make it even more modular so I can implement it to other character bp if I have to or want to.

Yo, I’m making a 2D game, and this works great! My only question though if you wanted to dash in the direction of the mouse how would you do that?

Find the vector between your character and the mouse and use that for your direction with the lauch character command. You substract the player position from the mouse position to get a diection. That's just a general overview, you'll need to play around a bit.
