How to add factor cruise control to you 1987-1991 OBS For truck. This project cost me about $200, and with this video it will be about a 1hour install for others.
Parts & Part numbers
Ford calls their cruise control “speed control”. So you may try searching these items with that phrase rather than “cruise control”.
Steering wheel pad
Cruise control vacuum dump valve
Vacuum canister
Horn relay- E5DB-13853-A3A
Cruise control harness - E9TB-AE-9A840
Dump valve pusher pad - E6TA-9C962-BA
Cruise control module - E9TZ-9D-843D
Cruise control servo - E5AF-9A827-AA

your a great man! many many thanks, i just inherited a 1990 fordxlt 150 and is my first time operating a efi motor, so you got me thinkin in the right direction because ii'd probably be methodicaly thinkin of how this old truck runs without a damn carb 😆😂😉

Very well done! I will like to see one for these old trucks on how to troubleshoot them, wiring harness test and so on. 1991 F150, Mine stopped working, out of the blue and a good schematic will actually help.

Great video! I have a 91 f250. I swapped the zf5 into my 1986 f150. Thinking the cruise control will come along as well.

@@dexterranch I made sure all the pieces of the puzzle are there and connected as you described. The cruise control is intermittent and mostly not turning on! any thoughts which component could be the culprit? the servo ?, the cut-off switch…

My gut says servo. I would start by thoroughly cleaning the male and female side of the connector that goes in the side of the servo. Also try to get a little dielectric grease in each pin. Make sure the horn is functioning properly. If it’s not it could be a grounding issue from the column to the frame. Hope this helps.

Great video, I'm planning on this swap too. I noticed that 90-91 trucks don't have the little grey 2-pin connector under the kick panel, but im not sure why, or if it matters?

I am doing this addition to my Manual 1991 F150, and I was wondering where the gray safety switch plug went. Is it a part of the harness, or does it plug in elsewhere? Thanks!

If you replace a Ford Factory 87-91 “Non Cruise Control” steering wheel on a same years factory Cruise Control steering column’ will a dash check light come on since “Cruise Control” isn’t hooked up anymore.

@@dexterranch well things have been kinda crazy here, we had a fire a few weeks ago and lost are barn and pretty much everything in it, I was able to get all my cow out so we didn't loose any critters. Now we're fighting with insurance they don't want to pay out cause we had equipment in there for are lawn business so there trying to say it should have been covered by business insurance not homeowners. So it been real fun.

I have an 87 with the 5.0L gas engine. Has cruise control...but it ain't working. won't engage. I checked the fuses...all good. check the vacuum line going to the servo...lots of vacuum present. checked and adjusted the vacuum purge valve hooked to the brake pedal. what should I check next?
