if I wanted to apply this to a mesh instead of a flat 2d texture, would i make it based off absolute world position instead of using the uv?

Yes. Subtract object position from world position and result connect to dot node instead TexCoord.

Hi. And is there a way to transfer the made texture from one project to another? So as not to create it every time

I guess you meant material function (glint itself) right? That's definitely possible. You can transfer most of the stuff from one project to another. In the Content Drawer right click on the glint material or material function > Asset Actions > Migrate... In the popup window it will show any extra files you need to transfer to make sure it will work in new project. For example if you would use texture inside material it would add that texture to migrate too. When you happy with a list you just press ok and choose Content folder of your new project. It MUST be Content folder or it won't migrate.
