That amp has a beautiful sound with or without the mid-range adjustment. I do think I like the subtle sound adjustment around the 4 setting. Seems to bring out the full flavor of the amp.

Use an equalizer !!! I have several EQ s , one for every amp I own !! Set amp tone controls at noon, and use an EQ to Taylor the sound !! Simple and affective !! Remember, if your tone sucks, then it's in the mirror not the gear !!!

Thanks for the explanation video. It’s hard to sometimes find videos explaining amp mods for the Princeton and especially nice explanations of options and also a sound demo. I just finished up a Mojotone PR kit and made this mod, but I didn’t feel like it gave me too much to I reverted it back to stock. A mod I like even more is adding a bright switch with a bright cap.

I love the idea of having a bright switch option for a Princeton- did you use a push/pull pot?
@BoydTimothy
@BoydTimothy Жыл бұрын
@@HamzaJamzaFamza I used a mini On-Off-On switch. Down is bright. Middle is disconnected. Up is even brighter.

I did the same mod in the exact same spot but I wired it differently. I installed this on a Pro Reverb and when I use it it is very responsive. But the difference I think in how I installed it is that I jumpered the wiper to that open terminal you left unused. I get a significant boost using the pot. I do this on all of my amps because it allows much more sensitivity in the tone stack controls. It also cuts out unnecessary mid-range bleed in Marshall amps giving you more control of how much mid range you want to dial in.

So you do it just like he wired it except install a small wire that connects the middle wiper lug to the outer lug? Thanks!

can someone explain to me the point of the aux speaker jack? what is the point of it? in order to run a cab you have to disconnect the internal speaker anyway.

The higher value pot would be better! Taking the tone stack out makes it like a tweed champ! But I also think you can make it sound like a brown face princeton!

I did this but used a 4.5k resistor with the pot so at mim I could go more scooped or mid heavy

Thanks for this great video. Is this a linear pot or audio/log pot? Am wondering if I can put a small put where the second input jack is. Or maybe the Reverb footswitch jack. (Who turns off reverb?)

It must change the sweep of the way the frequencies shift, right? I can't say I've ever truly understood why an audio pot sounds better for some things to the human ear. I get that the end points on either side are the same, but would a linear pot give more control over the shift? Maybe 6.8K would be more toward the middle of the sweep? Or would it go the other way? Again, really like the amp videos. Better than TV!

I have a 65 Princeton Reverb reissue (which I love) . . . however I can only put the Volume on 2 in my tiny NYC apartment. Is there a device that "Will not Damage my Amp" - and allow me to put the volume on 3.5 or 4? - I'm looking at the Tw Notes Captor X and the Fryette Power Station PS-2 . . .Any input is greatly appreciated.

Check the videos we've posted on our POWER PLUG line of attenuators! We received a Guitar Player magazine Editors Pick Award for these... VERY transparent and WAY less expensive!

@@michael_caz_nyc NYC apartment? The Power Plug 100 will give you the volume flexibility you need at roughly half the cost of a similar Dr. Z Power Brake. But even the 6/12 will get you down to 3/4 watt... still quite loud for an apartment!

I wonder if you have it the wrong way round. The lower the resistance in your pot, the more mids are bleeding to ground and vice versa

Thanks, is the following correct? If the pot is 'on 10' the least bleed off of mids, because the whole resisance of the pot blocks the bleeding and 'on 1' the most mids-blood flows to ground
