Between you and Dive Talk I'm fully convinced that I MUST try diving in my life. I'm already looking at certifications, there are paths I might take! Thanks for all of this great info - your attitude (and others of course) is getting people like me interested in this amazing hobby. I can't wait to get started! Diving with Sealions looks AWESOME!

Thanks for another great vid! AND THANKS for not divulging my absolute favorite dive location. As a beginner diver (30 dives), I won't do more than say it's as easy as ABC ;)

If you get the chance the lesser known Cayman Islands (Cayman Brac and Little Cayman) are spectacular. I would also highly recommend Roatan.

I've been wanting to go to Julian Rocks and now I'm keen on Brissy/Stradbroke since you mentioned it! I didn't do Mike Ball but I did Spirit of Freedom which I think is slightly cheaper but goes to similar sights? I loved Osprey and Bouganville Reefs (they're not the GBR but still amazing visibility and diversity of corals and sea life). I really want to do Byron but every time I look, the accommodation isn't cheap and the flights can be pricey over holidays! For now I'll dive in the GBR (Cairns) - mind you my first taste of diving was the Whitsundays when I did a discovery dive years ago and finally decided to get certified! Now I'm Rescue certified and thinking about what next...!

Sadly, protection for the GBR has been rolled back in parts because too much protection would prevent tourist operators from going there.
@OceanPancake
@OceanPancake 6 ай бұрын
There are still so many areas that divers aren't allowed to go, and most tourism sites are pretty condensed so the reefs visited are a tiny fraction of the overall Reef

You seem very pelagic and open water oriented; sorry none of these sites would interest me at all. I have been to Malapasqua, and was underwealmed. And not a single place in Indonesia or Malaysia (and only one in the Philippines), the heart of the coral triangle and the most rich and diverse marine ecosystem on earth...you can't be serious 😂 😂 😂 Here's my list (in no particular order) 1. Sipadan/Mabul/Kapalai, Malaysia 2. Tulamben/Amed, Bali 3. Bunaken/Banka & Lembeh, Sulawesi, Indonesia 4. Raja Ampat, Indonesia 5. Anilao/Puerta Galera, Philippines 6. Tubataha Reef, Philippines (bonus site)

I haven't had the chance to dive in Indonesia yet, so didn't want to comment on those. (They're also very popular in most people's must do lists) But I'm adding your recommendations to my next trip

Panglao, Philippines is great too depends on the visibility of course: sardines, jacks, barracudas (haven't seen these), a lot of turtles Verde Island, Puerto Galera has a lot of varieties of fishes, colors
