I take 30 XR + 30 IR, and I went cold turkey on Adderall & caffeine at the same exact time and succeeded. You CAN go cold turkey on adderall, you just have to make sure it is after a period where you have a major workload decrease or stress decrease in your life.

Even if you aren't addicted just taking your everyday dose changes the way you think so much that you become more empty inside. The not eating or sleeping makes you grumpy and depressed with leads to thoughts of suicide

Then stop taking it and talk with your doctor. have you been truthful with your doctor and told him that this medication makes you feel these things? I would bet my bottom 2 to 1 you have not. There is not many doctors that are going keep prescribing this if it has this type of reaction in your mood and thoughts.

I sleep better now that I'm on adderall. Went from waking up a minimum of 5 times a night to sleeping all the way through the night and waking up refreshed. I am happier every day, I have way less emotional meltdowns. I feel more confident. I can actually keep a thought in my head long enough to accomplish tasks. I finally feel like a normal person. Your experience isnt everyones experience, please remember that. Dont condemn a life changing drug just because it didnt work for you.

The focus is on “adderall is bad” but the reality is that it’s the side effects of the medications are difficult to manage and potentially dangerous. Taking stimulants can cause crashes, where it wears off and you crave more. That craving, similar to craving food or sleep- the brain hardly differentiates that feeling, is powerful and can lead to abuse, not because the medication is addictive, but because the person believes it will alleviate their crash symptoms. Imagine being hungry but not having food to eat, even for one day, it’s not a good feeling. Now imagine the hopelessness of wanting to ask for food and the people around you tell you that you don’t need the food. Your anxiety increases- now it seems like you’ll never have food again, because your brain went into panic trying to understand how it’s feeling. Now your brain is in full panic, everyone you talk to tells you not to panic, that you shouldn’t even be hungry, your body doesn’t even need the food- you give up, you accept defeat. You “go to bed hungry.” This guy needed someone to help him, he didn’t need more adderall, he didn’t need to be told he doesn’t need the adderall, he needed someone to help him understand that tomorrow will be another day and that his panic might subside, his life might stabilize, he might be okay. You only give up on life when you feel there’s absolutely no hope left in living it- especially if you’re panicked and depleted of hope. There’s ALWAYS hope. Coming from me, someone who doesn’t see a reason to really be alive either- life might not be perfect, or even that great, but not every day sucks, and you really don’t know whether tomorrow will make you feel better UNTIL you get there. Just having someone truly help you get to tomorrow can save your life. Whether it’s someone you love, or just some random person on the internet who knows exactly how you feel. Tomorrow is worth it, even when it doesn’t feel like it. This guy needed someone to remind him of that, and he gave up trying in an absolute way- he ended his life instead of just waiting for life to happen, because he lost his belief that it would. It’s tragedy, for him, not his family. He didn’t get what he needed and yet in hindsight, everyone wants to help him. Rest In Peace. Consider just waiting for tomorrow, and decide to NOT make decisions instead of making one PERMANENT decision. All of you out there who need to hear this, I hope it finds you well. I’m alive and choosing to stay that way, I hope you’ll join me even if you wish otherwise, because I do fully understand. I’d rather have a million suicidal friends than be alone because everyone else is dead. Every day.

@@kozscarface1798 I am not. I’m on Ritalin and vyvanse.... touché!! :P Short answer is yes, and the focus it brings me is the difference between a life in nighttime fog, and a life in clear daylight. Even though it turns a quick comment into an essay, into a book. It’s a potent drug, it’s been difficult to manage and i wish I wasn’t treated like an addict just because the thought of losing the ability to focus makes me feel afraid to approach life’s challenges - for me this includes the challenge of reminding myself to stay alive. But if my comment helps 1 person struggling with addiction or suicide (or both) then it was worth every second of my life experience that allowed me to make the statement. (And still alive 2 years later for this comment) Be well, stay safe.

I take offense to people who take Adderall and don't have ADD. It's a drug for people with a certain disorder and shouldn't be used recreationally. Save the drug for people who actually NEED it and can't concentrate without it. smh
@Eistroll0Wie0
@Eistroll0Wie0 8 жыл бұрын
First and foremost it is just a drug that stimulates your brain, doctors then found that it is useful for children suffering from ADD, that does not change its baseline effect, no drug is really "intended" for anything it can do this and that which can be good for X thing, what that X thing may be is up to perspective.
@the-horsecourage148
@the-horsecourage148 7 жыл бұрын
The reasons the stimulation is effective in treating ADD is that the stimulation is in the frontal cortex of the brain and therefore inhibits or offsets the over activity in the other regions of the brain responsible for anxiety and emotional control. You really would need to do some research and see the brain scans of people on and off this medication that are truly ADD/ADHD and compared to those that are not. You might be enlightened and surprised.

Devin Lease add isn't even a thing anymore, ADHD is the new term. And no, everyone gets distracted. Ever hear of a thing called "procrastination"? That's not just ADHD people. ADHD is more than just getting distracted, your doctor just wanted money so he wrote you a script for an amphetamine because he knew you'd be back for more. Technically, ADHD is more of a lack of motivation to focus on stuff that doesn't interest you. Hence why most ADHD people will become obsessed with stuff that actually does interest them

it makes me so mad that people fake ADD. is the worst feeling ever. I was tested for weeks by a psychologist in 2nd grade to see if I had it. It's horrible to live with. Thinking your stupid all the time, never able to learn because you can't concentrate, being bullied and labeled one of the stupid kids. Even now I'm terrified to go to college over the fear I might fail because I'm not good enough. ADD is serious and these people make it a joke.

Erika I am 37 about to turn 38 years old and just finished my second masters of science related psychology program ( Industrial Organizational psychology with focus in leadership). I also have one in general psychology ( clinical ). You can do it because I have severe ADD and I mean severe as I take now 30mg IR Adderall 2 times per day and was on 57mg of concerta in the morning with 20 mg of Ritalin IR in the afternoon before now. The reality is that most 80-95% of patients with ADD respond better to stimulant medications than any other therapy out there. ADD can now be seen on brain scans and under other actual medical diagnosis with instruments so for those who fake it they will eventually not be able to any longer. If you take your meds, eat right, sleep well and keep it to yourself you will have no issue with college and have a healthy happy life ahead of you.

Erika Butler most of the kids in my high school graduation who were severe cases of "ADD" were not faking and I think that is a broad assumption to state. They were also known as the smartest kids in the class, all 11 of them. To label certain people as faking a mental health disorder is not your expertise unless you are a doctor with the ability to diagnose mental health issues. I personally have been on adderall (ADHD) for years, as well as lamictal (seizures), clonazopram (anxiety), prozac (depression) and trazadone (insomnia). My first prescription bottle was handed to me at 12 years old. I am now a senior in college. The fact you took a mental health diagnosis and made yourself a victim of your own self consciousness is sad. Do not correlate being stupid with having ADD or ADHD. Possibly some DBT or CBT therapy is best for your college courses. I hope your still in them! -peace

I've been taking Adderall for 2 months. I have ADD so I have a legit reason for having it. I think people that don't have ADD or ADHD who take Adderall on a daily basis is just reckless and idiotic. Adderall is not a dangerous drug but it can be. I feel happy when I take it. I feel alert and I feel like I can concentrate on things I need to get done around the house. I don't go to school anymore but if I had Adderall when I was in school, I think that would've helped a lot. I think Adderall shouldn't be considered such a threat. People who deal with ADD/ADHD should seek help. Because I had a hard time in school and in life with concentrating on stuff before I begin medication. I got my prescription after filing out like 10 pages of questions and going through a memory and focus test. Then I spoke to my doctor and she then gave me my prescription. People who do not have ADD/ADHD: stop being retards. If you need to stay focused, drink coffee or monster. If you're feeling stressed out, listen to some relaxing music. But please don't take medicine that you don't need This guy's mother blaming Adderall for driving her son to commit suicide... get smarter please. Your son was an idiot for taking pills that he didn't even freaking need! The reason he's dead is because he went to doctors and pretended to have ADD. Adderall didn't kill your son, stupidity killed your son

Then how come I had to take a memory test and a math test with a doctor in the room before I could get medication? I'm not going to ask any college students because most of them genuinely don't have ADD. Methamphetamine and amphetamine are two completely different things, generally in two completely different forms. I know amphetamines are not harmless. On my medication bottle, it has a orange sticker that says 'controlled substance. Dangerous unless used as directed.' I'm not ignorant about a disorder I've had for about 10 years, alright?

Danielle1995 Klemas Im sorry to say but Adderall (Amphetamine) and MethAMPHETAMINE produce the exact same effects not to say it cant help people who use it properly but saying meth and adderall are completely different is a lie meth has one methyl group added to amphetamine aka Adderall. You just have to use the same route for taking the drug whether you orally take either drug ir smoke or snort it as long as you are doing the same route you will have the same effects as Methamphetamine on Amphetamine
@randybobandy463
@randybobandy463 7 жыл бұрын
Danielle1995 Klemas one more difference is Methamphetamine is more potent so you would have to take more adderall to produce the same effects for example 15mg of Methamphetamine is approximately 40mg Adderall.

Brandon Hickory because adderall is one of the most addicting drugs known to man. You'll take more without thinking because you think your current dose isn't working good enough, so you'll end up taking more. Once you realize how good it makes you feel at high doses, you'll take more and more to make you feel even better
@gangstaestibon9271
@gangstaestibon9271 7 жыл бұрын
BaldManLogan You summed it up exactly. Except I'm only 17 and it got to the point where I felt like I needed to take it every single day. I felt like I couldn't function unless I took it. Before then I also took double my dose (20 mg) because it felt like it wasn't working anymore. I stopped doing what I was about a month ago. There's too many negatives with Adderall and like you said it's strongly addicting even for someone with A.D.D. I suffered and became extremely depressed when I started abusing my Adderall. I'm not addicted to it any more, At least I don't believe I am. Stopped taking it for about a month and honestly I realized how much better I feel with my personality and everything when I'm not it. You have to be very careful with Adderall, because just like any other drug it can get you hooked to where you feel like it enhances your ability and that you need it to function. I started taking Adderall again recently to help me with school and I'm on 20mg (which definitely works again now). I really care about school but because my mind is always running a million thoughts at once it becomes frustratingly difficult to focus on subjects I'm very interested in at school. So unfortunately I still kinda rely on it. But I'm definitely not addicted to it like I was since I stopped for awhile. I've been happy for the most part recently. Hopefully I won't become dependent on it again. I learned not to abuse it because those were some awful times in my life when I was. I was seriously contemplating suicide like everyday. I just gotta not take it on weekends and some school days when I don't need it. I originally started taking it everyday for one reason but then it just evolved into a much deeper problem. I also take Zoloft which was prescribed to treat my anxiety (which was caused by my Adderall). By the way I've been taking Adderall for almost 4 years now but I never was addicted to it before this year.

My doctor gave me oxycodone when my back went out. I didn't even ask for it. Ibuprofen would've worked. Why are these doctors so quick to go for the strongest medication they have.

The story is about a guy that abused adderall to the point it created psychosis and he hung himself. It could have been any other medication in the world and he could have still hung himself...It is not the Adderall that caused this guys death. It was his parents inability to realize their son had a true mental illness and needed help. I think his parents constant disapproval and trying to control him created the addiction and abuse of the medication. Maybe had they accepted that he had ADD and needed this medication he would have used it correctly and not started abusing it.

I have a feeling this is exactly what happened. The way they blame with direct cause without any other knowledge of what was going on with his life or .accountability. He was most likely taking other things as well and couldn’t talk to them. His parents were freaking out due to him being up and I bet made it difficult for him and caused psychosis.

I am sorry for the loss. Yet to blame all of it on medication isn't right. People with addictive nature, they are usually suffers other mental health, trauma etc. It is a great medication for those who needs it. People commit suicide for many reasons and worth to evaluate all the other contributing variables.

i dont want to blame drugs on my uncles demise as people take things willingly but he was prescribed adderall and was at such a high dose that he said it drove him crazy. then he hung himself. crazy similarities granted he got a scrip its still something id never touch. i took ritalin as a kid and could easily get it but i dont think its the best idea

100% the kids fault. No blame on the drug here. He chose to use it and he did not need it so his fault. Hang around for more comments

Adderall is not that dangerous IF you are supposed to use it. I am only 12 years old and my teacher told me that I need to get help because of my ADD because my standardized test scores are high, but I have bad grades do to my ADD. I have taken 10mg of adderall a week. It's not a high dose, but it makes me able to focus and the only side effect was my eyes watered a lot.
