I've often tried to imagine the pain and terror a fish experiences when a needle-sharp point of steel rips into its mouth; then the agonizing struggle for its life as it frantically swims against the line. Then, a much more satisfying thought hits me: A fisherman is eating a juicy cheeseburger when suddenly a treble hook (hidden in the burger) rips into his cheek and he's yanked out of his chair. Then, he's lifted to the ceiling with his entire body weight supported by the hook in his jaw. Now, that's a video worth watching.

The Douglas County youngster sure sounded a lot like Trent's son from Born and Raised Outdoors....Wyatt. But, it doesn't matter....cool to get those phone calls. My son is 8 and he gets super excited any time we are fishing and he sees Cam, Popov, Swanson, etc. Keep inspiring the youngsters! Good stuff!

It was still an awesome video. (as always) In my opinion; it's not always about putting meat in the freezer, but more about being out listening to the water flow, the wind blow, and that bobber down, getting bent up, and releasing that wild fish, or putting that fish on the grill is just a perk. An great way to make things a little simpler is to use a weighted barrel swivel for trolling instead of split shot. No messing with pliers and what not.

TWO THINGS: 1st, Jordan, I bet you can run so fast in your new boots. 2n I hooked my first ever worm biter steelhead yesterday on one of your addicted worms. The Midwest special or whatever it's called. Everyone was throwing beads and I went worm, lost it but that was angler error.

Always interesting seeing the differences in fish regs. Scent is considered bait in WA but not considered bait in OR.

That’s how it goes. I go out 1 day and hook 3 then the next time I go it’s a perfect day with perfect conditions i can’t buy a bite.

Oregon Fishermen, It's important to note that if your river does not allow bait, all Rubber/soft-plastics Imitations ARE considered bait, (even Soft Beads) but Scent alone is not considered Bait. So you can put scent on your lures, spinners, flies and yarnies.

Great explanation of your methods of choice. Water clarity, rise or fall, … I think it’s awesome. My $0.02 is you didn’t address where in the system you are at. It’s high so I’m fishing higher up in the system. River just dropped two feet so I’m fishing lower in the system-or does that matter to you? Maybe yes. Maybe no. Anyway great video.

How long do you have the leader? I usually find 1 ft best for hooking the fish. Sometimes 1.5 ft. But I tend to go on the shorter end and helps me with hooking the fish.

Hello to the Addict Crew. My name is Brian and I really enjoy Jordan’s tutorials. Actually, their all good. I was a licensed fishing guide in Northern California, ( sorry) and fished the Sacramento, Klamath, Feather, Rogue Rivers and not to mention the Mad River, and Redwood Creek and Smith River. The Chetco Was my favorite for Steelhead. I live here in the Olympic Peninsula and we have some beautiful rivers as well. My question is my don’t you share what rivers your at? As a guide I believed in helping people out. You can show them all the set ups you want but unless they know where to go and physically do it it’s not as easy as you know as guides. I believe there are plenty of fish for everyone. I would love to hear back from Jordan or Marlin. I assume you guys are in Northern Oregon. My wife and I lived in Oregon for awhile before moving to Washington and I caught lots of Salmon and Steelhead there. My largest Salmon was 50# coming out of the Sacramento. Thanks for your time . There's nothing worse than getting up at 4am, driving to your favorite spot and having someone already there. Part of the fun is finding your own favorite rivers/spots. If they told people where they were in every video, people would be hitting that river even harder. Just adds more pressure
