BE SURE TO FOLLOW BLEEDING INSTRUCTIONS FOR YOUR JACK. I DO NOT SHOW THE PROCEDURE IN THIS VIDEO!

Thanks Buddy, just what I needed to correct my 2 ton jack issue. I inherited the jack from my Dad 35 years ago! A Craftsman and still ticking, Ha!
@j.r.zavala2 жыл бұрын
I have the exact Craftsman floor jack where I took the time to rebuild the hydraulic cylinder. Replaced all the o-rings and piston ring reverse seal. A few o-rings seals were worn out and others not-so-much but replaced those anyway. It was worth taking the time in doing so and now my trusty Craftsman jack 3 1/2 ton jack is back in service after about 2 years of non-service. In the meantime, I purchased a (previously owned) HF Daytona, a good jack, happy with it but not as good as this same jack you have here. Seriously guys, if you need your floor jack rebuilt, get it done and do it right. I chased the rabbit for years by adding fluid and again, adding fluid. That is the first clue. The second clue is the chatter when lowering and/or pumping up the lift arm, you definitely need a rebuild. Great video and thank you for taking the time and posting it. J.R. in Littleton, Colorado

Hey J.R. Do you recall what kit you used to rebuild your jack? I have the same one and just can't see gettin rid of such a great jack. Thanks!

@@jercas8811 Hi Jerry, happy to help out. You can find your specific repair kit at hcrcnow.com, a company out of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., known as Lazzar's HCRCnow. Your hydraulic repair kit is: 50145-RK for Craftsman floor jack , model 214.50145. The cost is $29.50 plus speedy FedEx 2 day shipping for a total cost of $40.05. You will have to open an account, for payment purposes on their website, it is safe. I hope this helps you and others as my floor jack has been serving me well since last repair, going on 6 months now. It is better than ever, no squeaks or moans when pumping and better yet, all dry underneath. Let me know, J.R. in Littleton, Colorado

@@j.r.zavalaYou are awesome! I'm having issues with mine that I bought in 1999. I don't want to get rid of it. But it wont jack up the weight of the front end of my Silverado. And if I remember correctly, adding hydraulic oil didn't help. Someone Engine that I probably blew out the seals by not bleeding the jack correctly. Do you have a link to a video on how to properly bleed a floor jack?

You can put a rubber hose on the end of that tip, or better yet a plastic clear tubing, if you want to be careful of not making a mess with the hydraulic fluid. I do the same thing when adding fluid to the rear end in trucks.

I didn't think that was the filler plug. Was expecting a bolt head to turn or something. Thanks ! Helpful video. The jack works better now. Had a car 8 inches off the ground right after funneling a little jack oil in there. It didn't work at first, but kept trying and it started acting normal. It had gotten to the point of not lifting tires off the ground at all. I should check out a bleed procedure.

Same jack, same problem but 5 years later. Thought it may be the winter cold. Don't see leaks but need to clean it up and observe it. For now it lifts and reminds me to put a jack stand under as well. This jack is a closet queen, looks like new. But seals don't care, they'll deteriorate anyway.

I have one of those jacks how do you adjust the screws
@maar57255 жыл бұрын
Thanks ; Very goood . 1 - You should clean the filler plug area with gasoline or solvent or brake cleaner. 2- you must bleed it , by raising it and lowering it 7 times to get red of air . 3 - You could measure the hight before the filling and after to see the difference ( progress ) . Thanks again . Keeep Up.

I have the save exact 3 1/2 ton (7,000 lds) jack! Can you tell me where I can get O-rings for it & any & all correct parts for it? Probably sears? I bought the jack about a year ago, after borrowing it for some time, the guy/owner asked if I would buy it for $45.00 so, beings how it has never failed me before, Today it was left outside & it is below freezing & when I pump it, it goes up & when I raise the handle, the jack lowers. kinda a pumping motion & I thought that maybe the hydraulic fluid possibly got a little bit of water in it & froze. Glad I found my exact jack because the 3 screws with 2 stickers saying, "do not adjust"2 screws So, I almost opened up one of the 2 screws left of the lowering gear.
@HilltownCT5 жыл бұрын
I’m sure you can find them on the Sears website. Or, you may find something at your local hardware store, but I’d go with Nitrile o-rings for use with petroleum products. You got a good deal on that jack.

@@zachwatson2349 Great! Would you mind sharing the bleeding procedure that worked for you, before I buy a rebuild kit?
@zachwatson234911 ай бұрын
@jdh6000 1. Starting from lowest postion pump the unloaded jack all the way up. 2. Once it's at the top, pump in 2-3 more times. 3. Lower jack completely and repeat 3-4 times. 4. Use a small srewdriver and release any built up air from the oil-fill plug. 5. Rinse and repeat. (Refill with jack oil if necessary)

I don’t get it. Is that hole always open? What if it rains or if you put it under a dirty car? Won’t it fill up with dirt every time you use it? And what stops it from pouring out?

And thanks btw, I found the rubber plug in my own jack. It was painted so I always thought it was a steel plug that was permanently riveted in, turns out they had just painted the whole thing at the factory, over the rubber parts and everything. I refilled it with gl4 gear oil because that was all I had at the time. I’ll replace the oil one day if I can be bothered. Let’s hope it doesn’t react and clump up first.
@TerrapinCreations6664 жыл бұрын

Yeah, no issues now. It works as it should. Mine was acting like yours before hand. It sounds like you’re low on fluid and not building pressure. Good luck!
