Special video for you all this week, adding lithium batteries to my motorhome, how cool is that! So, I went to Oaktree Motorhomes in nottingham who also sell and fit EcoTree Lithium batteries.
Rob the owner reached out to me after seeing my last video when he saw me struggling with power in these winter conditions and not being able to drive around tons because of current national lockdowns.
The problem I've been having like many other vanlifers is there isn't anywhere near enough solar this time of the year and I'm using more power than I can regenerate regardless of how strict and careful I'm being which is really bad for lead acid batteries, as you really shouldn't take them down below 50% otherwise you'll do permanent damage.
Along with little solar and lock down my split charger was next to useless as was my mains charger! Talk about bad luck aye'!
Anyway Rob and the guys at OakTree Motorhomes sorted me out and have done a fantastic job installing my new EcoTree Lithium batteries, I'm gonna be rocking power now and can parkup off grid for days on end and still have all the power I need.

Hi Daz can you do an update video on how you are getting on with the Lithium batteries, good or anything bad? I have been talking to Rob at Oaktree about getting a couple of them fitted, and it would be nice to hear of your experience with them,as you are using them far more than I would be. Bought my motorhome from these guys 3 years ago, loved their service, the handover was fantastic by and ex army chap who was amazingly thorough , and even sold my van back to them a week ago , this sort of service is so rare and without doubt they are the first people i would go to when im next wanting one, so great to have nothing but good feelings from a business in todays world of sharks and money comes first, superb service even when selling thats what really hit me so hats off you have me as a long term customer for sure!

Rob the owner is a brilliant bloke he's down to earth and he gives you that personal touch. i had 2 lithium batteries fitted and never looked back thanks to Oaktree Motorhomes

@@theoddjobcentre6686 Hi no we use a Numatic wet valet machine and a steam cleaner and we have a dedicated heated drying room with hanging racks which works really well.

Lithium is the way forward Daz... everything will be Lithium soon. Lithium Pulse Charges as appose to trickle charge, therefore it’s not as harsh on components. That’s why people can give 6 year warranties.... it’s the way forward. Much love Daz, Smithy

I just registered a Patent on something that will change this aspect of mobile living forever - It's better than Lithium - does not need Solar ( but Solar can be compliment to it) and will last you forever in a day power wise. And it will fit in the Garage! Watch this space...

16:57 you can also run the engine now for a top up - although you should have had a split charger anyway. Don't forget you can take those down to 0% without issue

great vid,i bought 2x ks energy lithium but apart from smelling of burning,i had loads of trouble,i bit the bullet and bought 4x victron lithium and they are brilliant in every way,the difference is night and day from agm to lithium

Hello Darren buddy I love your videos your laughter is just brilliant and makes me laugh this video will come in handy for me as I want to go lithium and I remember when John and Mandy changed to lithium and think they said for there 100ah batteries cost like £800 each and just seen the ones you have but the 100ah is £700 each so for 2 is gonna be 200 pound cheaper which will be ideal so thank you you take care buddy thanks for all the advice all the best

Testing it bud, drain it down to low voltage cut off and see how easy it is to get the batteries's bms to kick back in and then allow you to charge them again. Have a play around with a backup power supply like a power oak or similar system, you'll definitely need it.

Great to see you. What is the wattage of your inverter? Try running slow cooker, induction hob and toaster and see how quickly the charge returns on sunny day and running engine! 😎

Great to see you so happy I am thinking of this, same van as ur's but 3.5 tons 6 birth, I just wondering how big is your solar panel I know u said 150 Watts but how big is it sizes wise? I was thinking I need 600 Watts? I am getting 12v 280AH lithium iron battery I was hoping to b off grid most of the time, thanks

Oak tree motorhome are close by me Daz you could have popped in for a distance coffee. As you may be aware I sell caravans for a living and have come across oak tree in conversation a couple of times and never heard anything bad about them. I even looked at some vans there when we were buying. They really keep nice stock and know their stuff. Keep safe buddy
