I'm freaking out, as a marine biology student I just kept smiling the more you added. Nudibranchs (sea slugs) are my favorites, I was like "he's not gonna add them," and then YOU DID!! Brilliant work, I love the detail

The only thing this mod lacks is crabs dancing near a working jukebox and a Crab Rave disc. Other than that, this is pure perfection!

I like everything in this mod ... except for the starfish. Them breeding instantly when eating adjacent clams and muscles runs the risk of just filling the ocean floor with them over time. Especially since nothing eats them in the mod currently. Other than that, you absolutely nailed the dynamic systems in Minecraft.

As a marine biology student, I absolutely adore this!!!!! I was always disappointed that we get nautilus shells but not the actual animal. Super well done, I also love the less well-known features like the sargassum and the nudibranchs!!! My favorite is probably the pelican though, super creative and cute :)

This mod is literally amazing and has had me in tears for at least 43 minutes. As a marine biology nerd the amount of attention to detail in this mod is absolutely *astounding*, and the uses you've come up with for each mob are so true to life for each creature and it's beautiful. I feel the only thing I would add to make this better would be our lord and savior the ocean sunfish, and I've seen a couple people suggest adding it to the mod, however if you do, there's two things you should consider. For one, the ocean sunfish, despite being very useful to pelagic ecosystems, has a reputation for seeming useless at first glance. I figure it would be in character for the ocean sunfish to be one of the most useless mobs in this mod as a result, coming up to the surface of the water to sun themselves and seeming very lazy overall. The second thing I'd like to point out is that there is a famous video on the internet of a Boston fisherman spotting a sunfish in the wild and calling it a myriad of things, such as a "baby whale". Given that you're prone to implementing silly ideas, do with that as you will. If you don't plan on adding the ocean sunfish because the freshwater sunfish is already in the game, that's completely valid! I'd be curious to see what you do with this mod in the future if you ever decide to revisit it, which I greatly hope you do, because this is the only way I'm going to be able to play Minecraft from now on :7

The worms are the ones i saw in that image. Their drops can be used to get the item that summons the Ender Worm. They can be found in dirt, and when right clickled on the same dirt, their item can be obtained, and it can be added back. They drop nothing when killed. If you break the block, the worm will get out.

Im so head over heels for this mod. I think one little dude id love to see as a rare hostile mod is the Mantis Shirmp! My absolute favorite thing is the mixing of the parent fish and also the fact that almost every single one is breedable. It seriously shows the love and dedication and its absolutely stunning!

This is the first time Ive actually wanted to install a mod. I love the sea, and when than minecraft update came, i was just so happy swimming and exploring underwater. Great job!

Idea: New mob: Jellyfish Function: they would spawn in lukewarm or warm oceans and they trap fishes in their tentacles and would kill/eat them and would have multiple colors and they can be put in a bucket and are passive mobs but if you get to close they...sting you and inflict poison...and yeah they just are ambient mobs New mob: Tuna Function: they would spawn in lukewarm and warm oceans and they're multiple sizes of tuna(like salmon) and you can kill them to get the tuna item which can be cooked but a bit slower(a opposite to the sunfish) but they can traded with fishermen villagers and can be a drop when fishing New mob: Marlins or Swordfishes Function: they would spawn lukewarm and warm oceans and they're neutral mobs that would hunt other fish to kill/eat and they would occasionally jump out of the water and can damage you when hit and they will attack you WITH NO MERCY...when provoked ofcourse Mob enhancement: sea horses should spawn in coral reefs with multiple colors and would stick to their respective color and would hide when you or any mob would get too close, sea anemones should have different colors and sizes and they kill other fish that would get too close and would protect clownfishes over the 2699 tropical fish variants (These are just ideas ofcourse so no need to implement these in the mod)

Seeing the sea bunnies really cemented the fact that this is definitely my favourite mod 😭💖

What I love about eightsidedsquare is that the mobs seem vanilla-esque, I could actually see most of these features in a regular Minecraft update

About the bubble-eyed goldfish. The reason they exist is because of selective breeding. Also there is liquid under their eyes, and they can pop. It's recommended you keep them in a rounded tank with no sharp decorations, or just don't keep them at all.

You should add barracudas. they typically hang around coastal areas, but it would be best to NOT have diamond, gold, or iron tools and/or armor visible as barracudas associate shiny materials with their usual prey. Same thing with enchanted armor. They will attack you, but they will try and eat whatever shiny armor/tool you have visible, taking off a decent chunk of durability, and if it’s armor, half a heart of the players health.

Dude, add a blobfish for another type of deep sea fish, then turn it into the funny lookin blob when you release it back from the bucket

I'm not a huge marine biology nerd, but I find this mod insanely interesting and fun. I believe Minecraft should put this modification entirely as a side-update for the 1.21 Update.

As a future marine biologist (I’m a high school sophomore) and someone who’s loved marine animals since I was less than two years old, I adore this and wish mojang could add so much more mobs, blocks, biomes, and other aquatic things. Please mojang, you want more awareness. The oceans are becoming a vulnerable place and we need to help with that.

Fun little details in the video Diansu's sunfish texture has him wearing a brown suit and when you repeated lux fish it pulled up Luxintrust's MC skin and other shenigans.

I’d really love to see a ‘fish tank’ item that works like a pane of glass but when placed together joins. It would be nice to see fish acting normal in a fish tank instead of floating at the top

For some ideas if you ever revisit this, I have a few: -coconut trees with coconuts that can be broken and eaten for their flesh, or used on a bucket to give milk - coconut crabs that spawn near coconut trees, and can climb trees to eat coconuts which they can also be bred with. Although usually passive, they’ll attack anything that they’ve seen get hurt and inflict massive damage (as a coconut crab’s pincer closing is equal to that of a lions bite in force) to kill it, taking from their irl opportunistic habits. - tube worm blocks that spawn round geothermal vents (ie underwater magma cubes) - seabirds, with textures from different seabirds depending on their spawn, like puffins and gannets in Rocky coasts, boobies and tropicbirds in coral reefs and sandy beaches and seagulls everywhere. - PENGUINS!!!!
