A wonderful piece beautifully played -- Heifetz and Perlman both similarly evocative of the homeland to me, a Scot living in exile.

Magnificent. Passionate. I prefer Perlman's interpretation than that of Heifetz. Perlman's is about the feel of the Scottish aura. Heifetz, although perfect, somehow is his presence, his powerful persona (to me), comes through above Bruch's intent, the feel of the Fantasy for Scotland.

Besides, Heifetz's performance is cut on this recording. For that reason alone I would not consider it.😅

이곡을 오케스트라 플레이어로서 반주했었는데... 왜 들을때마다 할때마다 눈물이 나는 지 모르겠습니다. 브루흐가 너무나 그리워했던 고향을 노래해서 그런것인지, 그의 처참하게 망가진 예술가 인생을 알아서인지 모르겠어요. 그저 정말 그리운 향기가 납니다. 음악에서... 계속 반복되며... 돌아오는 테마가 저를 슬프게 해요. 결코 즐겁지만은 않은 곡입니다. 전쟁을 넘어, 인생의 전쟁을 겪은 막스 브루흐가 부디 후세대가 이렇게 당신을 사랑한다는 것을 알아주기를 바랄뿐입니다.

È incredibile, ho trovato oggi questo canale per puro caso e mi sono iscritta, vedo gli stessi miei interessi per il violino, per l opera lirica.. ho studiato al conservatorio di Mosca ,ho avuto onore di conoscere Stupenda Renata Tebaldi di persona, il violino vive in casa mia, la passione ho trasmesso anche a mia figlia ch'è una violinista professionista ,...è incredibile: ho avuto anch'io la gatta con il nome Mimi, due cani Tosca e Carmen.. Grazie per la bella scoperta del canale dedicato al violino e alla lirica!

Shirley thanks for the information. We love this so much. WFMT introduced it to us, then we went right out and bought the vinyl. Once upon a time we had a fantastic stereo system and we would crank it up then play this...and of course, it was Itzvah Pearlman!

Watched and listened alongside the Heifetz version. Fascinating. Hard to see how anyone could be better than Perlman… yet Heifetz is better. Perlman and the orchestra behind him does the piece perfectly. But… as they would often say on American Idol, Heifetz “took that piece and made it his own.”

Perlman makes a c major scale into a thing of unsurpassed beauty. In all my life , I've never heard. him give a poor performance. RIchard

Heifetz recording is better but it is due to an inferior orchestra and conductor rather than Perlman being less than Heifetz.
