They really tried to sell us on Mer and Amelia being the closest of sisters. That they got each other. But no, they were always just a pale imitation of these two. Not to say I don't like Mer and Amelia, but there is just so much more history and trust here.

How can the Actress that skillfully plays Amelia feel everytime her Script has her in this destructive and narcissistic behaviour? Yes Amelia's core traumas are unthinkable but she has been met time after time before Kai moving to the next Step in their Career. x!

This behaviour does not belong to this character any longer. I watched Private Practice as well, except for Scandal and later Seasons of How to get away with Murder I watch, sad yet true. 😞

I deeply appreciate Addison's use of "and" here, because as someone who deeply relates so Amelia and spiraling, sometimes you need that. People using "but" never helps. "I love you, and..." is so much more helpful than "I love you, but.."

I think Addison/Amelia’s relationship is such beautiful proof that family is not blood, family is simply the people who love and accept you unconditionally. And if you think about it, Addison is the only person in Amelia’s life who genuinely does that and always has.

Without over explaining we can tell how well Addison knows Amelia and it’s why Amelia was so quiet in this scene. When she saw Amelia yelling at Yasuda she saw the same person who was yelling “what do we want drugs when do we want them now” in that intervention returning. Meredith and Maggie are good sisters but they can’t have a conversation like this with Amelia because they don’t understand her past the way Addison does. Arguably I don’t even think Derek can

I really loved this scene. Addison is trying to create a safe place for Amy in order for her to understand that she is drowning. And she has to ask for help. And of course, to stay sober. No one abandoned her, she still has people to love her, to support her. Yeah, each one of us is trying to survive. That doesn't mean we don't love our people. I love you Amelia ♡

When things were going good with her and James on Private Pratice, she ran to Seattle, and during her marriage to Owen, she ran and hid at Stephanie's, instead of talking to him. Someone in another comment section told me that this selfishness she continually exhibits is classic addict behavior. Even when they have made massive progress in recovery they can still be incredibly emotionally selfish

The Showrunners are not letting Amelia Shepherd GROW through her Trauma, there is a meaning to the word Recovery and Amelia goes to narcissistic behaviour whenever her Abandonment issues are concerned. Amelia was Totally out-of-hand the way she spoke to almost everyone in this episode, especially Yasuda. Her core Traumas are unthinkable YET she has been met with Patience, Love and Wisdom several times over the Years she has been in Seattle. Why are the Showrunners Keeping her in this destructive behavior. Go Warriors x!

I loved that speech AND I think that Addison should have ended it with offering Amelia a hug. She's in a low place right now and can't regulate on her own, so she needs close relationships and touch, to help her co-regulate. She needs to be treated like she has the strength to do this herself because she does and those around her are already drowning themselves and can not be her lifeline this time. Last night I wrote down every single word Addison said in this conversation ,before I saw this was posted here because it was so what Amelia needed to hear in a way she could hear it without putting it in the thats is what people say just before they abandon me. Addison , thank. you so much , I may need to borrow this speech some time - for my Amelia moments and some of the Amelias in my life that I love,.sometimes people can't hear it but what I liked is there are sometimes I need to say it anyway to protect myself. Not everything is about her but this is her life. 2 sisters and a significant other fell in love with ALL left. She doesn't have stability. She doesn't have a rock. She is alone. What she needs to figure out is how she will add stability or purpose back into her life.

Sure she could have hugged her but addiction affects both sides, family too. This is hard for her too. Honest but made sure to tell her "I love you AND..." as the end of the convo. I really get why Amelia feels abandoned though, I would too 😢. Addie should stay with her a bit and then gradually wean her to being all on her own. Meredith and Maggie just left at the same time just like that, poor Amy.

No she couldn’t hug her without undermining herself. Her whole point was Amelia is not a victim and that no ones is doing anything TOO her. Giving someone already feeling like a victim a hug just reinforces their feelings of weakness and that someone else is going to fix things. It can be the last thing a person needs during a tough conversation. She has a right to feel ALITTE abandoned she doesn’t get to feel completely abandoned because her sister are making choices for their own lives. That’s selfish.

Apri. 22, 2023 It sounds like you have never watched the TV show Private Practice. If you had you would know this is part of Amelia's character. Going to AA meets is her therapy. This is why Addison told Amelia to go to a meeting. Fans were first introduced to Amelia back in the day on that show. That is where Addison and Amelia's history began. Addison knows Amelia better than anyone else.

As nice as this speech might be meaned: This won't help. Amelia isn't this way because she wants to be this way! If you are, everything you want, everything you wish for, is to be like every other "normal" person. To not feel the pain of not being that 'good', anymore. No one who doesn't fight these demons him or herself will ever gets it. How it feels when you struggle and can't cope anymore and the painful, extremely hard and unfair knowledge that ONCE AGAIN you will have to be the one who needs to step up for yourself, AGAIN, and try to get your head above water. Because there are people who had nice happy homes and people who care about them, who teached them how to cope with tragedy in a healthy way, who are having great support systems of friends and professionals... And then there are those who don't. Who don't be that lucky, no matter how hard they try, how hard they fight, how hard they paddle to stay above the surface- every time. No one should judge Amelia who's not been in her shoes. Here are no words of comfort, no reassurance, no "I will stand with you. I'll help you find someone who will help you." Like Alex was there for Jo. So - thanks for nothing.

She took Amelia aside and asked if she was drinking or drugging because of her behavior. Addison knows the signs of Amelia spirals because of the history on Private Practice back in the day

Honestly, I stopped watching grey’s anatomy when Amelia and Link broke up. To me she is the worst character and I got tired of her none sense. I got tired of her hurting other people and I just disliked her character. If she ever leaves the show, I may watch it again . Nah, I’m lying, I won’t.
