I appreciate your eloquence discussing the topic. I am a Christian and of a different opinion, but also respectful of your choice to shop where you choose. To me, many Christians are not displaying "loving your neighbor" and instead seem to encourage banning, intolerance, and self-righteousness. I also pray that unity and love can be restored.

We are often taught that the most loving thing we can do is to accept people and let them continue living with false beliefs and unhealthy and sinful habits. The Bible teaches that love is patient and kind, but that it rejoices in the truth. Culture is introducing and promoting sin at a very young age, which is having really tragic consequences for pre adolescent children and their physical, spiritual, and mental health. They are getting stds, taking the abortion pill, and being traumatized when a baby is expelled instead of a clump of tissues, taking hormone pills because most of us are uncomfortable in our own skins at that age, and then regretting their decisions after irreversible damage is done. Sin has led to the mental health crisis we are experiencing, whereas sharing the truth in love prevents hurt at all levels. Christians need to get back to the 1 Corinthians 13 definition of love in its entirety.

I am a big believer in showing people love and kindness. There is a big mental crisis in the United States and many people are struggling regardless of how they may identify themselves or what personal choices or views they have. Kindness and love and compassion is so powerful. I think that as Christians that may get lost along the way too often especially in the current political cultures that are just meant to pit people against each other even on things that there would be common ground over. I think that compassion and love is the most powerful tool we have been given. Hate is not going to be what brings people to Christ. But I think it will be what makes people turn away. Pour love and connection into these youth coming up now. They all need that so much. ❤ We all do.

I’m also focusing on more love. Loving the least of these. I don’t recall if that’s exactly how it is said. I left Christianity for many years. I’m dipping my toe back in. It’s uncomfortable because I truly deeply feel many things. I think the entire country is under an agenda… and it’s hiding under Christianity. However that’s way to broad for this. I appreciate the quality message you sent. I will continue to shop at Target… I will also continue to pray.

I’m actually not taking my kids into Target until this ends because I’m scared of them seeing grown adults insult and terrorize the people who work there. I don’t want them around people who think it’s acceptable to destroy property and use foul language at individuals who have no decision power when it comes to the merchandise carried and who are just trying to pay their bills. A person can voice their disagreements and choose to shop elsewhere. But justifying inappropriate actions by trying to say it’s to protect children when being violent in a place that is frequented by them makes no sense. No child feels safe around an angry, violent, yelling adult. There needs to be a better way. Be the example you wish to see. Every issue that involves people is multifaceted but everyone can benefit from love and compassion, regardless of religion, sexual orientation or gender identity.

@@christine55416 That’s a good thing! Unfortunately for my city in the SW United States, that hasn’t been the case. There are now on-duty uniformed police officers (in addition to their own security/loss prevention staff) at Target stores in areas where they haven’t been present before, including very affluent ones. Individuals here in my town are filming themselves harassing employees and dismantling Pride displays, then posting to the internet. I hope wherever anyone does their shopping that they are safe, especially if they have children with them.

While I don't necessarily agree with your viewpoint, and the Christian church I attend welcomes and loves people of all different gender identities and orientations, I do thank you for the reminder that how we spend our dollars in association with our values is important. For me, it's supporting local businesses here in my town and goods that are made ethically in America. Jesus welcomed all without judgement. He did not pick and choose those who he found worthy. He demonstrated respect and kindness. When he did "call people out", it was to speak against the Pharisees who made made displays of religious superiority and issued judgements on others. I think many Christians today need a friendly reminder to look after the logs in our own eyes. You did a good job speaking with respect in this.
@mollyrecchia6445
@mollyrecchia6445 Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately this is a different issue than welcoming all without judgment. This specific marketing is targeted at our children. Jesus did strongly call people out (Matthew 18:6) who cause our young people to stumble (and for good reason). Also, God created an instinct within mothers to protect their young (hence why you don't get too close to a bear cub) - and that is what is primarily fueling this. Kids absorb so much and don't need to be exposed to this message when we are walking through a store to pick up toilet paper and cereal. Hopefully Target and other companies are learning...don't mess with our "cubs".

I am a big believer in boycotting. It started years ago when I came across a list of companies that donate to Planned Parenthood and decided I didn't want my money to contribute to that. Then after watching True Cost, my eyes were opened to the inhumane practices in fast fashion. I haven't shopped at Target in years, the jokes about spending $100 when you just went in for toothpaste, always rubbed me the wrong way. It's become an entire culture of celebrating irresponsible behavior. I grew up wearing mostly secondhand clothing and I feel that that is the most ethical option across the board. I try my best to buy as much used as possible in other areas as well.

yes, it's a business,all they care about is sales. I googled suicide by gay youth once and wondered how many of these sad and indescribable pain for the parents and loved ones were caused by hate disguised as love. These people are humanbeings with a part of them not like you, but they hurt, they love, they need support. I've read of parents heartbroken over their children bullied or physically hurt by people taught they are "devil" in disguise. I've read of parents disowning their children to the point, they burned their things. This is love? Now, you might say that is not me, I wouldn't do that, but do you stand up and say the ones who are doing it are wrong? When Matthew Sheperd was killed and tortured for being gay, where do you think those evil people learned he wasn't worth living from? That needs thought too.

Both to some degree, as some parents are actually nudging their kids to choose a different gender. It’s become fashionable and profitable on social media platforms. And teachers are promoting the idea you can choose your gender to kids as young as kindergarten. I’ve seen countless comments from gay people who say they’re so thankful they grew up before all of this or someone might’ve convinced them they were trans instead of homosexual. Same for girls who were tomboys who are now happily married with kids. It’s also occurring in friend groups - especially girls - with no prior evidence of dysphoria. Abigail Shrier has a good book on it.

It is by far mostly a social contagion. She misquoted the percentage /prevalence of natal males and natal females who experience gender dysphoria.- the current DSM-5 states 0.005% to 0.014% are the ranges NOT 5% of the population. Be assured that as acceptance of transitioning increases, this number will be inflated to support the agenda - and she Is correct, there is an agenda against our children. There's Big money for doctors and hospitals in gender transitioning surgeries. The surgeries are just the beginning. Once they have your child they have them in their medical system for life. We need more rational thinking and less feelings when it comes to these matters.

You’re right, this is a sensitive subject! I think it is important for all of us to remember that we are all sinners, and without the shed blood of Jesus, we all deserve the death penalty. Our salvation is a gift, not something we earned by being righteous. I’m reminded of the woman who was brought before Jesus for being an adulteress. The crowd wanted to stone her for her sin. Jesus said “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” (John 8:7, NIV) Somehow, we’ve gotten the notion that some people’s sins are worse than our own, and we have the right, or even the responsibility to throw stones. Jesus commanded us to love. Oh, it’s easy to love people just like us. But we’re also commanded to love our neighbors, and even our enemies! Christians don’t have the luxury of hating anyone! If we want people to experience the love and salvation of Jesus, we need to drop our stones and stop scaring them! No, that doesn’t mean we have to go around wearing Pride shirts, or even patronizing stores that sell them. However, we do need to be mindful of the messages we are sending, whether on our shirts, or in our actions. It all boils down to love.

Thank you Diana for your chosen topic. I worry about the children of today - they are going to be so confused. I can't understand the push of all these gender issues and labeling. We need to just let kids be kids with their innocence. And yes I do understand that there are people who are born with different situations and I certainly don't condemn them - they are just people like everyone else - No prejudice from me. Your video was very to the point of what we need to do for our children's future.

There is alot to unpack regarding this issue. I try to base my mental framework on a very basic question, "what does the Bible say?" I believe that we are to showcase God's love at all times, but we are also held responsible for upholding what the scriptures tell us. In Genesis, we are told there are two genders, male and female. Period. We are also given guidelines about the traditional family unit that God himself designed. (Which is clearly under attack) So, while I appreciate that there are those that are struggling with gender issues, which is an attack from the devil, it doesnt change what the Bible has clearly told us. So, if we need to peacefully make stands like boycotting, or canceling subscriptions then we are permitted to do so. For a very long time Christians have been silent regarding controversial issues. It is not wrong for us to stand up for the teachings of the Bible! From another angle that is not a religious one.. the amount of spending that goes on in this country is outrageous. So, maybe a lesson that could be learned here is to just be more mindful of our hard earned dollars in general. Only buying what we need and not spending in Target and other stores on impulse buys.

Live and let live apathetic attitudes have allowed the devil to step in to manipulate and brainwash our young and vulnerable children. We need to stand for family and children and to promote what is right and just. I pray that people will wake up to God's truth in time and repent of their sins.

@Kari You are correct that there are people born with both genders. A very small percentage. Even in those cases, they usually have a dominant gender as well as male or female chromosomes. I don't have any prejudices, just a working understanding of the book of Genesis.

To the LGBTQ+ community: I am ignorant. While I listen when given the opportunity, I cannot fully understand what it’s like to be in your shoes or what it’s like to read a bunch of ignorant comments by people who say they are “Christian.” I cannot speak for anyone or any group, and I especially cannot speak for God, but I do know Him, and I seek Him with my whole heart. I can I only speak for myself. This is my firm belief: Other people do not define you. God says you are beloved. I am best friends with a God who wants to be best friends with you too. Just because you are a “smaller percentage” doesn’t mean you were not created by God. This person’s “working understanding of Genesis” is clearly wrong. God made you in His image, and you are incredibly precious just the way you are. I celebrate you. After being spoken to for a very long time like there is something wrong with you, I get why some of you are at the point to “put it in people’s faces” or however they described what Target is doing. I don’t feel like my heterosexual marriage is under attack just because other people love each other. Sounds like the same people who’d say “my water fountain is under attack because black people want to drink here.” “What about our children?” they say. Are you kidding me, why wouldn’t we invite conversations with our children to teach them that not everyone is like us, and the differences in the world are not scary or dangerous, but beautiful. I believe we’ll get there. Maybe it will be the children who are able to see you and love you for who you are. To the horror of “Christian” parents, maybe we already do. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🎉

There are stores that sell Christian T-shirt’s with the stigmata on it and other very Christian sayings as “billboards” if anyone as a parent wants to put a shirt on their child that says Love Is Love then it’s their right and prerogative. What happened to the words like civility and tolerance. We all can tolerate and respect each other without being so divisive. Jesus loved all people and accepted all people. More Christians could look to Jesus as an example of how to accept and love all people. The next generation will be kinder and more accepting. We are a nation made up of many cultures and religions. It would be behoove us all to learn more about each other, to respect and tolerate our differences. Lead with kindness.

I stopped shopping at Target, I think in 2016, when they took a stand on the bathroom issue. Lack of caring toward the safety of children is not negotiable for me. I have been in many stores with PRIDE displays on end caps or small displays. I can easily walk past. But Target is different. They seem to be purposeful in it being their focus. I do feel for the employees. They are just trying to earn a paycheck and can be affected by decrease in sales. I wish stores would stay out of politics and social issues.

I read of suicides of teens who were bullied and told of hell and hated, whose blood is on those deaths? Is it just the depressed and sad teen who couldn't see any light with all the "love" or the ones who were cruel?

This is such an important point. I like to ask straight people, "When did you decide to be straight?" They're usually flustered or confused. Because, of course, straight people usually just KNOW they're straight because they're attracted to partners of the opposite sex. Well, some of us aren't. Some of us are born queer, or at least not straight. Beat your bible and kill all the gays you want, and you won't change the fact that sexual orientation is not a choice. Might as well just condemn to hell everyone who has blue eyes, because that would make just as much sense as damning gays to hell.

Target CEO Brian Cornell recently sent a letter to employees saying, "To our team in Stores: thank you for steadfastly representing our values. No one is better at working through uncomfortable situations in service to an inclusive guest experience. What you've seen in recent days went well beyond discomfort, and it has been gut-wrenching to see what you've confronted in our aisles." Is there any concern that boycotting Target may contribute to people abusing Target employees? People are certainly welcome to vote with their dollars, but violence toward employees is not very Christian.

Secondly, if they were just businesses, of "inclusion", wouldn't they allow Christian merchandise as well? ie "Jesus is the Way", ""He is Risen" etc? Of course not. That would be offensive. So thankful I’m part of a church working towards reconciliation with the LGBTQA+ communities. Praying Christians can start following Jesus and be loving and welcoming towards all. Maybe we should be living through Bible rather than social media and Fox News. “'Brother, let me remove that splinter in your eye,' when you do not even notice the wooden beam in your own eye? You hypocrite! Remove the wooden beam from your eye first; then you will see clearly to remove the splinter in your brother's eye.” Let’s work on making the church a better, safer place for children. Let’s hold our church leaders accountable for molesting children and assaulting women. Transgender people using the correct bathroom is not the issue.

I loved Target and had been shopping there since at least 1981. I used to spend over $200 per month in Target. I quit going there (quietly) in 2016, and I realize they probably didn't miss my annual $2400+ money. I just stopped going because they and their "in my face" displays were making me dread the month of June. But last year when I became aware of the gender-altering clothes they sold (the breast-binding tops and "packing" underwear), I verbalized my reasons if someone asked. In Christ, we are to LOVE everyone. And I really want to do that, and I want to look past our differences and accept each person. But in this pluralistic society, we are told that LOVE means "approve of my lifestyle choice" - and I feel so stuck. I will continue to pray and ask for the right words to honor our Lord and love others. Life is hard sometimes.💔🇺🇸
