On the note of "Ben in UAF + OV is a teen, and teens are always irrational and flip-flop their personalities, so it makes sense for him to be that way." Well, yes and no. Sure, rationalizing it that way may help, but Ben wasn't WRITTEN to be that way. That's just a way fans can perceive Ben's inconsistent personality in a way that makes sense to them, but even then, his attitude, opinions, motivations, skills, and relations are always contradictory. Like I said at 27:16, there's a difference between a character with multiple layers, and a character that is straight up not the same character from episode-to-episode. Besides, not EVERY teenager is incredibly impulsive and indecisive/ inconsistent, and AF Ben originally wasn't. If chalking up Ben's personality issues to "just being a teenager" works for you, I'm happy that it helps your enjoyment with the show. But that doesn't work for me, because I know that's not the true reason he is this way.

I personally think that Ben post s3 AF is done the most realistically. Cuz hes a Teen whos Universally famous and has possibly the most powerful device in the universe. So it makes sense he gets cocky and nonchalant. But when shits going down, Ben does get serious and becomes more like pre s3 AF Ben, where hes serious and thinks smart. Its sorta like the same with Spider-Man. Cracking jokes and having fun normally but when its time to get serious they do. I still like both variations of Ben and still enjoy watching them in action regardless

@@axelnilsson5124 It's more linear than OG, but not completely linear. It's still episodic and like the rest of the franchise, it's primarily focused on spectacle while character development comes second. Not to mention UAF in itself feels very inconsistent to the OG series. Like Gwen being part alien, the plumbers being an intergalactic police force etc.

The point of ben being the wielder is he doesn't just use the most powerful alien he can, he's flexible, and can adapt to most situations with even his quote unquote weakest aliens.

Regarding Gwendolyn (Ben's future daughter) i think it's pretty stupid that some people think the Ink Tank tries to influence the fandom to say she is real and canon (same with others similar topics).I personally believe she is Ben's daughter ,not because Kuro said so ,it's because she clearly was intended to be Ben's daughter or at the very least someone who is close to the Tennyson family ,but that idea got scratched .Even when i was a kid and i first saw her i was like "she looks very familiar"and that's because she looks almost exactly like 10 year old Kay Also i was gonna ask if Kuro will do a breakdown on Heroes United ,but he just confirmed it lol

I was off discord for the last few weeks so I'd like to mention something here. While I agree that Ben seeing the contumelia as grandpa max would've been amazing, mr smoothy works too. I see it as Ben considering mr smoothies a reminder of his failure to save the universe. Now sure, he NEVER seems sad about not being able to save the universe, but he's also said that he acts goofy in order to be able to cope with everything.

I've always felt the Mr. Smoothy skin on them was a reflection of Ben not being so much of a "big picture" kind of person. He lives moment to moment. And in the moment they scanned his mind for something to appear as, his biggest desire at that particular moment happened to be a smoothy.

Hey Kuro, I hope this isn’t a very negative video (since I know how negative the fan base can be sometimes). So I just wanted to say thank you for all you’ve done. This was one of my favorite shows growing up and all the videos you’ve done have made me feel like a kid again waiting for a new episode. From your insight of animation to the videos on expanding the lore of the worlds in the Ben 10 universe, you never fell to amaze/entertain me. I feel that the omnitrix that, though it is meant for representation and understanding, Ben more so utilizes it for what he is best at: saving lives. This is why I feel that even though the ultimatrix condradicts Azmuth's intentions of the omnitrix not being meant for combat, some circumstances call for more firepower, and this is for the sake of saving lives. I feel the biomnitrix follows this same formula, and almost personifies Ben's ingenuity, as Ben repurposes these aliens' typical biological capabilities into new ways of fighting intergalactic evil. Originally for aliens to better understand each other, Ben repurposes it, using it in such a way that he makes the opportunity for them to understand each other even possible, which he does by ensuring the wellbeing of innocent people. The biomnitrix accomplishes such a thing, while also adding a fun gimmick that the fandom has previously obsessed over, with the original series even touching on it; something to also remember, Ben doesn't *have* to fuse his aliens, it's only a function that he is capable of using. This shows that the biomnitrix maintains its predecessors' main purpose, while still offering a new function that furthers Ben's combat capability, helping him accomplish his main goal of eliminating evil, to protect those who desire to be understood in the first place. This is undermined by Ben 10k overusing the feature in omniverse, but I think this is for the sole purpose of drawing some defining differences between prime and future Ben, which would add to entertainment and variety in the episodes he appears in (since one of the main purposes of children's television is to entertain and capture attention). I agree with Kuro, but the biomnitrix does have its reasons for existing.

@@Error0101 I've read that he can use only one to transform into one alien. Hell he doesn't even *set* the individual gauntlets to anything, he basically just goes on Master Control logic, but he clearly likes to announce what alien/fusion he's going to use before transforming.

I was one of the people who noticed the change in style (though in my case, I maintain that it looked extra odd because the clear evolution is so much more visible when placed back to back; can't speak for everyone else), and though I wasn't worried, you _had_ made it clear that many comments you received in relation to the breakdowns were hella discouraging at times. Wouldn't really make much sense. Death Battles are chosen on what it would make sense to do, like Superman and Goku who are often deemed as some of the most powerful characters in fiction. They have a connection. Ben and Joker aren't really alike at all, aside from being teenage superheroes (far from being a unique concept). Granted, Ben doesn't have much connection to Hal either, but it's at least a bit closer.

i honestly dont care about the inconsistencies because when you have so many different people working on different shows, thats bound to happen. I think if the episode is good, fun, entertaining, and adds something to the overall story, then its fine. Changes are needed to keep a show fresh

7:44 I was once part of a fan Discord server about an old anime from the 80s and one of the mods never finished the series. He mentioned that the reason why he hadn’t is because he felt he would become bored with the show if he watched the whole thing. So I think it’s perfectly valid to not finish an entire series immediately

16:39 here’s an idea. What if the highbreed had a Galvin shut down the defenses for them in a rather covert manner. The highbreed have been shown to be willing to employ “lesser beings” for similar tasks before as was shown with Simian, and it wouldn’t even the first time a character was employed by a villain for something that lead to the destruction of their home world (thinking back to tetrax and petropia).

Can we all just learn to respect each other's options? It's one thing to try and sway someone's thoughts towards yours, and another to completely bury someone in criticism? I like Bloxx, second favorite behind Snare-oh, and have justified him by saying he's made of terracotta and from a mesa/badlands style planet, but that doesn't mean I'm going to shove that idea down the throats of everyone who dislikes him for being a "Lego gorilla" because I have full respect for their opinions. No matter how much I may disagree on something I know it's only an opinion and, to someone else, I'm just as "wrong"?

I think personally, the biggest question I wanted answered as the statements about you being less enthusiastic about the breakdowns, so I'm glad that got addressed. I only discovered this channel more recently in the last few months, but the content is top notch Kuro. When I finally get some time, I really want to buckle down and read the 5YL comic, seems like it'll be a great time.

It sounds like a good portion of the ben 10 fandom has selective hearing. Because a good portion of these problems are brought onto you by the fact that they want to defame you or at the very least cause problems for you. This all could be because of how divided the fandom is. So, because of that, the people who don't want the fandom to unify (because of The Ink Tank's presence or for what ever reason) want it not to do so. So in turn they make the ink tank's life a living hell by constantly miss interpreting what you guys say and do, especially Kuro it seems like.

I understand that Ben’s character did change in season 3 of AF but after that season I feel like they combined elements of Ben from seasons 1/2 & Ben from 3 to create a good characterization. Ultimate Alien and Omniverse have good characterization even if some episodes he seems a bit off. I feel like I can describe Ben’s basic character traits and it can generally apply to the series overall. Even in Ulitmate Alien and Omniverse Ben has serous moments, amazing feats, and character traits from every other series. It all feels like Ben. I do hate that they had this sudden change in AF season 3 regardless of how they try to justify it in the show. Basically I feel like going forward they made sure Ben felt like himself even if that meant combining elements from every show.

Idk if there is (or will be) an episode about the Ultimatrix reflecting Albedo's characterization, but it's my headcanon that the Ultimate forms (of thousands of years in war-sim to evolve DNA) shows how he will always see the Omnitrix as a weapon

My own idea about Ben’s attitude is that his maturity in the first seasons of alien force comes from remembering his immaturity as a kid and just trying to better himself, then getting a bit too cocky with his recent feats and going against what he learnt in those 2 seasons, then going to omniverse I think that is Ben being himself, having his humour and being fine with it because he knows the power he holds and inspiration he gives to others, he knows people expect him to act lighthearted in dangerous situations to keep people calm. It’s just how I like to think of it but it kinda works

I like to think Ben’s serious personality in the first two seasons was just the result of Max’s absence and the imminent threat of the Highbreen, after he saved the universe and received constant praise everything went to his head and became insufferably arrogant but got a reality check after losing the Omnitrix, during UA and OV was Ben just being his true self having fun being a hero but serious when the situation calls for it.

16:08 I never got the time to go onto the Discord server to say so, but I always thought that the reason the Defense Systems were off was because of Maintenance. But I don't know if it was because of a pop-up fact or just a fan theory I heard years ago.

before omniverse, AF and UAF Ghost freaks Motivation did make sense but as the series and worldbuilding continued it made ghost freaks motivation take a hit in that episode due to being the high ecto lord of the Anure system. sometimes world building can be detrimental sometimes. I know there was a pop up about Z'skares High Ecto Lord status but with the plan for the OG series we weren't going to go there so it wasn't important for ghost freak to mention that he wanted to conquer other planet for his empire since, it wasn't common knowledge at the time.

9:21 Ben 10,000 turned 10-year-old Cannonbolt into Diamondhead in the first Ben 10,000 episode. Maybe it worked there because that Ben 10,000 timeline also has X=Ben+2 in it?

Well, yeah but he turned young Ben into a different alien similar to how Vilgax turns Ben back to human and UAF Ben turns himself into another alien: by slapping the Omnitrix symbol.

In response to the video game breakdowns do you think you could upload those onto KZfaq as well for those who don’t Twitch accounts? It may seem like a little bit much (if-not unnecessary)but I’d personally really appreciate that seeing how I really don’t have any social media accounts outside of KZfaq. And that’s only because of the controversy and/or backlash about the inner workings of some of the social media platforms ESPECIALLY Twitter.

You know kuro, I’m sorry that you and the ink tank as a whole have to deal with the negativity the fan base can produce. But I feel that we should also be thanking you guys, you guys are a real conduit or meeting point for all of the Ben 10 fandom. Me personally I’ll always be grateful that you reminded me of how much the series means to me. So despite all the negativity you guys get sometimes, unwarranted negativity I would like to add, the least we can do is say thank you for bringing us together.

Honestly, this should be the tope comment. I Love these guys so so much man.. They made me relive parts of childhood that i couldn't even remember. Ben 10 is so impirtant to me and the reinvigoration of that through these guys means so much to me. Ink tank, if you're reading this, thank you for everything you do.

To address what you said about the reboot I really hope you do breakdowns on the entire thing I feel like it would be really nice to drum up some discussion around it that might not be holy negative and heck even if it is mostly negative at least an analysis will be made more so than those people care to do

I do wonder one thing, are you, Kuro, do a similar rewrite to season 3 to make it more consistant? I don't mean on super detail but overall ideas that the season had and how make then be more consistant? It's something i kind of do sometimes when i re-watch Ben 10, i just imagine with the benefit of hindsight, try and make it fit and be more consistant, not "fix it" like some people think

While I do understand and respect your reasons for not liking and taking down your older videos, it is admittedly a little sad to see them gone. Mostly because they made a nice part of the channels history IMO Also, since I don’t use discord much I didn’t get to ask it there so I’ll just do it here. Since you said here that you will be doing Heroes United will you do something with Generator Rex before that? Breakdowns to go along with the UAF ones or singular videos of general thoughts about each season or story arc? Either way, love the content from everybody here. Can’t wait for you and Ash to have another Ben 10 cooking adventure

I watch the Ink Tank because I loved Ben Ten as a kid, because I loved UAF when I was in high school, because I like hearing more about the universe (multiverse?) be it of a fan creation like 5YL, or in breakdowns of episodes I haven't watched in years. Hell, I'd say personally I HATE the movies since I'm not 8 years old anymore, but I still love Ben Ten as a series enough to consume the media. My point being, Kuro, and everyone else on the channel revitalized the series for me, and thousands, if not millions of others, and no matter how hard you guys try, you do make mistakes, or someone misinterprets what you say, and that's fine, but don't let it get to you, as fans finding inconsistencies, or as creators dealing with drama, enjoy it and the effort put in by others with the capabilities to help you fondly remember it

A pop-up and confirmation by Dwayne McDuffie revealed that Ben has two children, namely Ken Tennyson and Gwendolyn. This was the reason that she was not included in Omniverse: the creative team, which had studied the original series episodes, but did not have access to the pop-ups, were not aware that Ben has a daughter. Moreover, even Tom Perkins, the artist who worked on many of the designs for Ken 10, was unaware that Ken had a sister, claiming that Ken was an only child during the production of the episode, and the existence of a sister being a retroactive addition later on.

18:08 I personally really like the ratings, because I've wanted to rewatch the show, but couldn't finish the second half of Alien Force, so it's nice to easily find which episodes are considered the most entertaining and which are important. 25:00 tbh I like both characterizations and genuinely can't decide which I like more, but the inconsistency is very distracting, so I guess on that note I would've preferred if they kept the character like he was in AF's first half.

Also as for the alien DNA being available only on Primus that is actually what is indicated in the show. There is an episode where Ben goes to another planet and isn't able to connect to Primus so as a result he isn't able to turn into anything. If the DNA was stored in both then not only does this make Primus redundant but it also makes that moment make no sense

This is a well made video however I'd like to give a diffeent perspective about the biomnitrix.. In the perspective of the show, it's exactly what you said, a gimmick just to fuse powers of 2 aliens for fans. However for the story my interpretation is the biomnitrix represents the unity between 2 species, and each fusion is meant to be a symbolic representation to encourage unity between diffrent species like the omnitrix, just taken to the next step.

Yep, when I originally found this channel out, I was like REALLY!!!???? Is anyone still paying this much attention to my favorite show??? And I was really glued to the videos... I maybe watched them 10 times over... But my biggest issue is with Diamond Head... Why does everyone keep forgetting his main ability... He can literally grow crystals if there is anything to bond them to... Meaning that he can grow an entire planet worth of crystals if he so desires... Plus, his name is "DIAMOND-HEAD"... WHERE IS THE FREKKING DIAMOMD... What I mean is his biggest weakness was that his crystals though durable, weren't THAT durable... So why not make him as tough as Tedenite (The hardest substance in B10 universe, and there HAS to be a reason that Tedenite and Diamond head crystals are exact same colour) Also also... Does anyone even notice that yellow glow of energy in their eyes... That is the only indication of life among this species... Other than that they don't feel pain anywhere... So basically they are rocks held together by some form of energy withing them... And they use that energy to generate crystals at an exponential rate if they can bond them to anything... And shoot small shards of it in absence of bonding material... So a Diamond Head ultimate SHOULD have unbreakable body... But then as the crystal is absolutely toughened, he wouldn't be able to generate lots of it as the energy within him will gets depleted... But he should be able to make some small objects like shields and swords and morph his body like Kevin & his swords can cut through ANYTHING... (We see a glimpse of detachable weapons from DH in Slimebiote episode) THAT SHOULD BE HIS ULTIMATE... As it shows the abilities he has and does actually use and then improves upon them in a million period simulated conflict environment... I really hope this message gets to as many people as possible... As I'm a HUGE fan of DH and to see his limitless power just reduced to smithereens like this is pathetic... (To be honest a Tedenite body won't get destroyed even by absolutely anything... Not by bombs, not by lasers, not by acids or electrocutions... Not even by Atomix... Only severe vibrations by Armadrillo or Echo Echo can do anything to him or he has to be wiped out of existence by Alien X... Other than that, he is to be the most tough and unbreakable species/creature in the entire B10 universe... At least that's what the original writers wanted to portray his as judging by his early appearances) I sincerely hope that this message resonates through enough people and finally reaches a hype where there can be a proper tribute given to this awesome and super underrated character...
