For the people who say the trumpets are blasting, THEYRE SUPPOSED TO BLAST this isn't supposed to be musical this is supposed to be excited and get the crowd pumped up which is what they did. This was incredible

@IndigosClothing6 жыл бұрын
Seth Hartz what's the point of alto sax and clarinet xd
@jjsully6786 жыл бұрын
its jxy To provide a deep, rich tone for the entire band because almost every instrument (except maybe mello and sousaphone) is very very bright, so the saxes and clarinets help balance it out. Every instrument serves a certain purpose otherwise it wouldn't be in the band in the first place.
@IndigosClothing6 жыл бұрын
Jalen Sullivan true because i play clarinet and i feel like it makes trumpets sound better
@IndigosClothing6 жыл бұрын
Jalen Sullivan are clarinet even playing loud all the way or doesn't sound like it
@jjsully6786 жыл бұрын
its jxy I'm not sure because the brass section always seem to play really loud. But they should because it's one of the most "softest" instruments. That's why almost every band wants around 13 clarinets in a band.

Just here to say that the girls aren't cheerleaders!!! They are majorette dancers that actually preform when it's halftime and also when the band is playing throughout the game, which is common in these type of bands and some others, these girls are almost always with the band, their part of the band (of course not in the instrument aspect) they are the fabulous southern university dancing dolls with 50 years of tradition!!!

@deandrejones87018 жыл бұрын
+Rimenuir Lumfatnur I marched corps style in high school and then switched to show style when I went to an HBCU. There are things i enjoy about both, but marching show style was my absolute favorite. It was war on the field against the other band and people came to the games just to see the bands battle. Dancing and playing at the same time was something else I had to get use to doing. Choose a great HBCU with a great band program to get a TRUE HBCU band experience.

I am a proud Gramblinite. However, I must give credit to SU for this performance. I'm not alone based on the favorable reviews from Billboard Magazine on-line and USA Today! A diverse range of music and showmanship are what make all of our bands unique. Despite the unyielding loyalties to our respective schools, we celebrate individual and collective successes among our friendly rivals! So it is in the lyrical content of Adele's song that I commend "the Human Juke Box" and the entire SU Family by simply saying, "Hello from the other side...." (CDG GSU c/o '93)

People are coming in here making their comments about something they know nothing about if we wanted it to sound symphonic, that band is in the spring hence the word marching band, besides This band is from Louisiana it caters more to its own unique style where a lot of genres of music was born especially in New Orleans that's where this band get its brassy sound!! Do your research this band had been around for decades and have been doing big things and will continue just because "your people" just hearing of them means nothing! The y continue to put others above us but they will NEVER out entertain us! Forget Ohio state garbage band
@willtemp90656 жыл бұрын

Ohio State would run musical circles around Southern. Stop being ignorant. Be real. But peeps always use the New Orleans excuse as to why HBCU bands (SU and GSU in particular) tend to play loud like this and it's bullshit. It all started when rap music was birthed and became popular music. Before that, every HBCU band used a ton of musicality and only played R&B, ballads, and old school music. Southern was probably the first band to start writing aggressive arrangements and every other band after that copied their "loud" and aggressive style. The problem is a lot of y'all in the HBCU band world judge bands based on power now and how strong the brass section is. There are only a handful of HBCU bands that have both power and good musicianship today.
@geraldsomeone76754 жыл бұрын
MMB-Spartan, all good. I simply appreciate all Marching Bands for being their own unique selves, without generalizing. Diversity is key.
