The microphone in question has a hypercardioid polar pattern, which makes it pick up signal from further away and it's also used for us to hear her sing!

I noticed you commented on another NPR TDC which included The Pixies where you said NPR blew it because a certain song you felt should have been included wasn't. Dude, if you know what's going on, you'd realize NPR has NOTHING to do with what the song list will be. This is left up to the performers as to which songs will be played. It's called TINY Desk Concert for a reason. It is a *small* sampling of the artists' work. Be more positive and your life will become much more satisfying.

The amazing thing about this performance by Adele is that it is completely raw, not engineered in anyway, it is pure and that makes this show all the more impressive. The musicians who play alongside her are equally talented and gifted. ❤️❤️🍷🍷🍷🍷❤️❤️
