aren't they on different categories? the rise is more for daily easy miles, while the SL2 (I assume) would be more versatile and initially the SL series is for more uptempo efforts..

I’m a 200lb dad jogger and the rebel v4 was too soft foam went dead after 30mins. The Boston 12 has been my daily trainer and soul mate for any kind of run. I’m a little nervous to pull the trigger on the SL2. We need more testing!!!! Great looking shoe

Same here , I am a 6’ 41 year old dad jogger about same weight , I was faster and lighter in 20s and early 30s but always been a large and muscular runner and I have loved the Boston 12 for not bottoming out and have great toe box for my foot shape. Just Looking for 10.5 on sale but that common size is all sold out ….

185lbs here and soft shoes are too squishy and sinky for me. I need firm yet cushioned and that's why the B12s are my favorite shoes once you figure out the upper and laces

Same experience here. Rebel V4 bottomed out immediately under my 200lbs. Boston 12 feels great. Just the right amount of bounce, cushion and support without feeling harsh. I also have the Prime X 2 Strung, crazy comfortable shoe for long miles as well just catch it on sale. I can really cruise in that shoe for longer efforts and my legs stay fresh.

You are the hobby jogger. Please keep following your instincts. Not all of us can buy a hallway full of shoes to test before we round out our 3-5 shoe rotation. B12 is my favorite all around shoe. Followed by Noosa Tri 14.

I own the B12 and like it, but I don't understand how people call it an all rounder. The upper is uncomfortable and it doesn't want to go slow. It's for tempo runs only as far as I'm concerned.

@@remcodejong9149 B12 is not a daily training shoe for me. For this I choose NB3 or Triump 21, personally. B12 is my 1k rep or up to marathon racer shoe. B12 attacks!

A 300 mile / 480 km Boston 12 ain't an old wasted shoe at all.... seems he is hyped by SL2. I agree with you Brandon. B12 is an all rounder, just ain't an marshmallow soft shoe like many runners like today. And has a great 6mm drop, against 9mm from SL2. So, quite clear and obvious, SL2 is the adizero friendly entry level close to the market staple 10mm drop (hello heelstrikers!), while B12 is better suit to midfoot strikers. I have a Noosa 15, and I feel that is a faster tempo/racer shoe, while B12 can cover easy runs to racing days easily. Anyway I'm very curious to sample SL2, since it has Lighstrike 2.0 and Pro, let's see how it goes. I tried Supernova Rise and I got really disappointed; too cushy too me. Even as a daily trainer. Anyway, I'm happy Adidas has a bazillion new models to beginners (Supernova options and SL2). Seems to me those are the fruits of a couple of years trying to find their footing and missing at the high stack midfoam era (yes I'm talking about Boston 10 and 11 era).

I appreciate the distinctions. My experience with the Superblast has made me more aware of looking for shoes that are right right for me; a 135lb. guy with a light touch doing mostly slow miles. Something that feels like a slightly more built up Rebel V3 sounds pretty good.

I recently bought the rebel V4 and in the beginning it was kind of weird but after 10 miles it suddenly broke down, and became my favorite daily trainer. I Really recommended it. Light, cushioned and fast.

Don't know why a lot of folks like so much the softer feeling with running shoes. For me it gives away the feeling when you convert the power of impact into forward power, because of the lack of ground feel. Also your time on the ground is longer, so your efficiency is worse. And that is in my opinion not something favorable, also not at lower speeds or intensity. Better shortened your stride lenght, but stay at the same cadence and time on the ground for the easy runs. I get that for runners with a high mileage 80+miles /130+km per week it has some strong points in terms of lower the injury risk, because they don't want to jeopardize their ambitious goals for a race event or/and a PB in that. But for beginners and the average 20-30 miles runners i would say it is preferable to start with a firmer shoe to get faster and more direct feedback when your muscles and, in my view much more important, your tendons starts to itch.

Thank you for this comparison. I currently alternate between my Boston 12 and Adios 8s for daily, long runs and interval work. Thinking the new SL might replace both of them to go with my Takumi and Adios P3 rotation.

Last minute remarks could be the most critical and valuable! SL2 is temping a lot but... Will it last a test of time? Well, i have too many shoes as a result of nice initial run reviews 😂 By the way - I still enjoy the first SL20 and the Boston... 8 😅 ...and still mix the Adios 4! with Takumi Sen 9 Anyway, new purchases on hold as I start to think: Does that softness of SL2 represent what will the future Bostons & Adios be? 🤔 I can wait 😅

The OG was a brick for me..the only thing I could use it for HIT sprints on dirt..the rebel V3 and V2 are still my favorite shorter distance runs..it sounds like the SL2 is what the V1 should have been..the upper was decent on V1 so I will give the SL2 a try..the only Adidas shoe that ever worked for me was the pro1..all the uppers since then were horrible..just an observation is that I rarely see an Adidas shoe at races..maybe cos shoe stores in my area don't sell Adidas shoes..good video and good luck with the mosquitoes..😂

SL2 seems like a budget shoe. No stiffening rods, much padding in the color instead of the well fitting shoe, etc. I feel like a lot of shoes like the rebel V3 have a cheap sense about them when they lock the stiffness that even the cheap new balance zante pursuit had. I mean if you took the new balance zante Pursuit and put some new foam in it it would be a super daily trainer capable of speedwork for half the price of today's plated shoes

I currently have a pretty large rotation: Novablast 3 1080v13 On Cloud Eclipse Invincible 3 Boston 12 Vaporfly 3 Deviate Nitro 2 Dragonfly, victory and cloudspikes for track What should I pick up? I understand that you are a busy guy with family life and making videos etc but if you get a chance lmk. My goal is to run sub 16 in the 5k and I’ll be peaking around 70 per week with some double thresholds.

I need the long run test for the SL2s. SL ones could not do 2 hours comfortably, but superb for an hour. I need a long run workhorse...ie the Boston, but would like to know If the SL2 can manage the marathon distance....bcos I will buy one shoe only...need it for short and long distance...slow and fast. 1 shoe!. like a shoe for training for the mileage you will need to race/run the 26.2 miles. It could also mean a shoe you can train the long weekly mileage and race the marathon in, like the same shoe. Contrary to a shoe that someone would use to walk to work, or use for trail running, or run with there highschool track team with.

I did my half marathon training in the Boston 12 (and raced in them). It’s a great shoe for me at all paces as a mid/forefoot striker. Probably my favorite shoe of the past two years.

@@supwellMy first thought would be Durability, as you have mentioned it seems that shoes that need a bit of Break in (Like Boston 12) seem to last longer than shoes that have that immediate Plush/comfortable step in feel like the SL2 seems to have. I have my Velocity Nitro 3s just over 100k and although a bit of outer heel scuff wear in same spot you get, they took about 50k to break in and are quite a good firm/bouncy feel that is super fun to run in. Also I am A neutral runner but you made the SL2 sound really unstable, maybe compare the stability feel with VN3? I thin VN3 and SL 2 are pretty similar in use case for a fun fast daily trainer and both likely to go on sale a lot as Adidas and Puma like to throw out sales quite a lot so it seems like they are similar in use case but different in execution, looking forward to seeing your take on it.

I keep seeing you wear the feetures socks. Have you tried any other brands? I actually have a pair but haven't used them for running because they feel very thick. Have you reviewed any other socks?

I've tried os1st and Bombas - they're all solid but I like the feel of Feetures the best. They have a few different thicknesses as well. Lmk if you have suggestions for other brands I should try too

I'm gonna have to try my pair of feetures on a run soon. I like the Swiftwick brand, as their socks are thin but durable. And I just purchased a pair of CEP socks, they are a brand of compression socks for runners. Going to see how those feel and if they make a difference for races or longer efforts.

Thank you! And Adidas is weird with their releases 😂 they will drop things randomly and at different times in different countries. I'm guessing it'll be available globally soon but they've had some shoes that came out globally three months before they were available in the US 🤷🏽‍♂️

SO many Adidas shoes coming out, I dont get the lineup to be honest so if you do please explain to us. Just picked up the Supernova Prima on Adidas 30 day trial, 1st run felt great, sore legs post run after 10k easy but i did do a half marathon race and PB 2 days previous so hard to tell if the shoe was to blame. It felt like a more off the toe Nimbus 25 which i like for easy recovery days. Looking forward to thoughts on the Prima soon.

I haven't tried the Prime X Strung yet but from what I've heard it's very different from the Boston 12. It's supposed to be a lot softer and bouncier but also unstable - so depends on whether you like that feeling. I'm planning to test it at some point soon whenever I can justify dropping another $300 on one pair of shoes 😂

Didn’t run in SL2, but compared to the SL, the Supernova is a more comfortable, heavier, easy run shoe, while the Adizero line is faster, more aggressive and designed for performance, I guess.

Supernova rise is for comfort and this is more for speed. Both are soft and easy to run in but the supernova rise is a lot more stable and feels more relaxed. The SL2 feels super bouncy and a bit uncontrolled (in a good way)

I think this is a good question. I used to have Invincible 3, really loving its soft ZoomX and bounciness before I returned it because of the split midsole. I just bought SL2 but since it's a really new shoes, I have to break in first but this one got a lot more bouncy compared to Invincible 3 as of now

The middle width is really narrow. Care must be taken in choosing sizes. adios PRO 3 & Takumi sen 10 wore a size 8, but I had to buy 8 1/2 of these shoes.

I would have liked to run with boston12s, or other adidas, I was a big fan of my late adios boost 3. But adidas changed the fit, put internal padding at the ankles on the boston, so no heel lock, no support, feeling of instability. The original SLs also have a very weird cut, nothing to see anymore. I am disappointed with this brand.

@brettfettbeargaming I mentioned the Rebel v3 in my comment yesterday after my initial 8 miler in the SL2. Very similar feel but the SL2 is better in every way for a daily trainer compered to the Rebel v3.
