Damn I miss those videos.. you had some of the most awesome best of cuts on youtube, especially the small details like at 5:06 with the two climbers blinded together made these vids so amazing!
@Fongpaay7 жыл бұрын
How have I only just found this competition now?! While I don't think it's the best format for determining world championships, it's bloody amazing for the spectators the way the pressure keeps building and looks super fun for everyone involved. And the editing in this video is superb how it shows the progression of each climb and even the climbers overlayed on top of each other doing the exact same moves. Awesome work Adidas and OnBouldering! Look forward to seeing it in 2017
@OnBouldering7 жыл бұрын
Wow, thanks a lot Fongpay! I'm glad you like the video and I agree, the superfinal is very exciting to watch. Very intense. Adidas Rockstars is one of the best climbing events and I can't wait to cover the 2017 edition.

I mean obviously it's a cool angle if it's just for footage. Until l 2 weeks ago, I hadn't been climbing in 12 years (since highschool) . Back then, bouldering was just something we did in climbing class when we weren't using the top rope or lead climbing. This is freaking awesome, wish I knew back then about competition

How do they come up with these routes? How do they know they aren't actually impossible?
@OnBouldering6 жыл бұрын
Well, they know the moves can be done independently (because the route setters try the routes while setting them). But they can't be sure that the entire problem will be climbed during the competition. But they are good at their jobs and they have a ton of experience, so most of the time they get it right.

7:35 Private joke for climbers ? xD The slowmow of the move (which is called a drop knee) timed with the drop of the music. Genius.
@OnBouldering7 жыл бұрын
Haha actually I didn't think about that interpretation. I wish I had because it is pretty clever :D I simply timed it with the music to emphasize the move.

Amazing problems and edit, fun to watch, as always. Btw, what kind of climbing equipement does Adidas sell? (in order for them to be worthy to host a climbing event)
@OnBouldering8 жыл бұрын
Well, through Adidas Outdoor they sell shoes and apparel for outdoor activities. And Five Ten is part of Adidas. They've been sponsoring a lot of climbers lately (the entire Slovenian team wears Adidas).

@OnBouldering7 жыл бұрын
Beast indeed. He's certainly great to watch, but I think what makes this kind of comps great is that you get to watch him along with guys like McColl, Hojer, Gelmanov, Rubtsov... each with a different style and body type. Can't wait for the World Cups to start!

Love these vids. Watched your Rockstars 2015 ones so many times! Just one request for the next round: it would be helpful to see the competitors names on screen as well.
@OnBouldering7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Reinier! I usually put the names on the screen on the qualifying videos of the IFSC World Cups because there are many different climbers and some of them are not that famous. But for this one I thought that with just a handful of very well-known climbers showing the names wasn't necessary. But you may be right, I'll reconsider for next time :D

It's hard to tell, but I'm guessing that the touched the back of the volume with his left foot. The marks were for the orange volume, not for the big yellow hold, so that would have been ok.

What is happening at 0:56-ish where those groups of people are talking to each other?
@OnBouldering8 жыл бұрын
That's the observation period. The climbers take a look at each problem and try to figure out how to climb them. They can (can often do) talk to each other and touch the starting holds (without leaving the ground).
