I'm surprised to learn about the Rise working that well for you. It's a high drop, 36/26 rear/front stack distribution shoe and yet it worked miracles for you as a forefoot striker. The other model, Supernova Prima has been recently released and it's supposed to better suite FF striking runners. Anyway, happy to hear you're enjoying it immensely.

The Prima has too much foam. I don’t want that much foam under foot for a trainer. Plus drop doesn’t really bother me me. I run in shoes 0-10mm with no issues. Though I prefer 6-8 generally.

I ran in Supernova Rise in a demo run during TRE (Austin, TX) and recently ran in Supernova Prima (during a demo run on Global Running Day). Personally I liked Supernova Prima a lot more. If you get a chance try Prima. Extra cushion made a difference in the ride and I cannot say this for a lot of other highly cushioned shoes like Nimbus or even Novablast 4 that I tried. The cushion in Prima is a lot more responsive. In general I like mid-stack shoes a lot more for most of my training but Prima seems to have found a good balance between softness and responsiveness.

I'll, at least, try the Prima on when it finally shows up here in Taiwan and see how I feel...but the low stack and minimal use of foam IS one of the main reason I love the Rise. So it's going to take some convincing for my feet.

I was surprised of your praises of this model yesterday in your Puma Velocity video that today I tried it in a store. There was also Supernova Stride which I didn’t like. I did like Rise though I could only walk around but on the other hand they didn’t give me “fun” factor in terms of extra bounce or they didn’t surprise me. They are slightly denser and firmer than Nike Vomero 17 and Puma Velocity.
@SagasuRunning
@SagasuRunning Ай бұрын
The SNR is denser and firmer than the V17 or VN3? Did you try the same shoe as me? The VN3 is MUCH denser and firmer than the SNR, which is to it's benefit for what that shoe does. The V17 is also much denser, though the step in plushness of the V17 due to the ZoomX is higher, but that goes away quickly and can turn into an issue on the V17 (I have a video about that).

Do you feel a rotation around Rise, Boston 12 and possible Adios 8 covers most bases? Adidas has some new models for higher stack and/or plated shoes but if Rise covers easy paces, Adios/Takumi Sen speed work and Boston long runs I feel like there is little to be gained from buying anything else from that company for the time being. I wonder how SL2 will fit the rotation because it might cannibalize Adios 8 for speedier traning? Rise feels a bit weird in the heel when walking because it pushes the foot laterally but for running it seems fine. I believe this is why some people might find the shoe's heel clunky at first. It seems that discounts for this shoe are starting to pop up so your review is just in time to pull the trigger. Thanks!

Very interesting! I understand you prefer lower, firmer shoes for daily training, and so do I. The thing is that I hate Puma Velocity Nitro and I'm looking for an alternative for my Peg 37, specially for longer runs (I'm a forefoot striker and weigh 74kgs, never had an injury and like to feel the ground). I never tried Novablast and there's a good deal on it right now. It would be an obvious choice at the price, but I know Adizero SL2 is coming up soon, which could be a good alternative. The SNR will feel too soft for you. It's a good analog to the Streakfly in feel. For easy running I like to have a soft and flexible option. @@SagasuRunning I just got my SL2 and thought I'd share some experience for your upcoming review FWIW. The midsole is very good (thinking of it as a softer and more enjoyable version of Mach 6). The upper is also very comfy but it has a fatal (for my feet, which is between E and 2E) - it gives me blisters on the medial side of my big toe bunion area every time. The upper material is much softer than B12 (which also gives be blisters) and even AP3 (which I actually never had this issue, now AP3 has other issues with their upper for me but that's not relevant here). Upon a detailed check, I noticed the issue is at the part here the upper connects with the midsole, on the inner side of the shoe - the midsole (or maybe insole) has a "wall" like flare up and connects with the upper. That "wall" is kinda stiff and is what causes the rubbing. AP3 actually doesn't have this issue (completely flat and the upper just wraps around the bed of the midsole/insole).

I have use this shoe for months now, it works well for daily 45-60 minute endurance run…but last Sunday, I try to do long run for HM preparation, I aim for 2 hours of Zone 2 run, HR 130-140, cadence 165-175, and got a steady pace at 7:00-7:30 km/min..relatively slow I know..I’m a regular cyclist that does Zone 2 riding for 2-4 hors, so this 2 hours long easy run is a breeze for my body, but it’s a different story for my leg…after 75-90 minutes, I feel the forefoot starts to bottoming and loose it’s cushion..and my right foot starts to go all over the place with it’s stride, so I have to work hard to keep it consistent..and after 1:45 both leg just give up, HR and body feels fine, but leg just can’t move anymore… So I can’t use this for a long long run, at least for now at my current running level..would you recommend me to get other long distance trainer for 2 hour and above long easy run? And which one? In my current rotation, my only other trainer is Endorphine speed 3 (bought it on a steep discount), I don’t know wether it would help me for long 2 hours run, other shoes are takumi 8, adios 8, and metaspeed (sky + and edge paris)

I’ve done many 90-100min runs in the SNR and have no issues. In fact I’d have no issue bringing my it to a 3 hour of 32k run in a marathon build. Stay, consistent and cushioned through the entire run. Odd how our experiences differ so much. Two options I’d recommend for a long slow run…. The Supernova Prima, if you are a forefoot or midfoot striker. Or the Superblast 2. Your ES3 is worth a try but I do find the foam in the shoe really looses its life after 90mins or so. Your other shoes won’t work well, unless you need to do some marathon pace efforts in the long run.

@@SagasuRunning I guess at 171 cm, 69 kg, and less then perfect running mechanics on the right foot, we require different level of support…I haven’t looked at it but my guess is, ground contact time, body weight, and overall “springyness” of a runner determines how the foam behave, maybe I just put too much load on it and cause it to bottom out sooner…thanks for the recommendation anyway 🙏🏼

It’s gunna be hard to decide between this Prima and the SL2. I wonder if Prima is better for me being 6’3 215. Fortunately I live 2 hours from Portland where the adidas “employee” store has everything 50% off… not that I NEED more adidas shoes.

It’s a nice drive down to Portland… especially form the north and east…. Just saying. I’m going to get to the bottom of which one is best. Though my hypothesis currently is each will be best for a certain type of runner…. But I’m still going to crown one a “winner at year end in my “best of” content. So much review and vs content coming over the next 30-45 days. It’s going to be ridiculous. Stay tuned.

Got the Supernova Rise. After one run it think it’s awesome. Definitely do not need the Prima. I’m surprised how cushioned it is at the with that stack height. The Dreamstrike+ is awesome! Really glad you gave such a positive review of this shoe because it was a little lukewarm in other reviews.

@@TroySpringer11 Right? It's very surprising how it feels on foot giving how low the stack is. Best of both worlds, flexibility/ground feel and cushion...usually things that don't go together. The other great thing is how consistent the shoe has been and how that feel has held up over 200 miles+.

8mm drop destroys my knees. i can barely get to 10km with the supernovas which isnt the case with bostons, adios pro 3 or prime x 2

The thing about the Supeenova Rise is there is so soft and accommodating that it really doesn’t feel like a 10mm drop shoe, though it also won’t feel like a 6mm drop shoe either.

I'm oddly intrigued by it too. It's TOTALLY not the type of shoe I like...but something appeals to me with it, even just to try it. I'll see what I decide once it's available here.

I've made the same volume of km on them, and I agree with all your thoughts, but I would like to know your opinion about using them for long runs (more than 20 km). Do you think the stack height should be enough or the Prima could be better for this purpose? I'm also considering the SL2, or buy another pair of Boston 12...
