Agree exactly with Sir Louis. His figures are what I tested. My Stauns are probably over 25 yrs old, and i lubricated them all with a drop of oil in case the o rings had dried out

Do you know there are two versions of Staun Deflators. The Standard version for pressures 6 to 30 psi and the Heavy Duty versions for pressurs15 to 55 psi. Could that be the difference? I think Jebbreys Jibberish might have the Heavy Duty versions. Would be interested to see his zero turn pressure. I have the Standard version and my pressures were: Zero turns - 210 kpa, 1 turn - 170 kpa, 2 turns - 140 kpa, 3 turns - 100 kpa, 4 turns - 70 kpa.

This is great, perfect timing for me. I'm in the market for these types of tyre deflators, and I really wanted to get Stauns as they're Australian made, plus they've proven themselves for years. But without any pressure markings on each deflators I thought changing the preset would be a long process. That's why I was about to buy a set of the Campboss Boss Air Deflators, which has pressure markings on each deflators. But seeing this, I've decided to get the Stauns. Thanks for sharing.👍

I will use them but only to help get me down to a pressure to save me time with my tire deflator. I had a set I was given a number of years ago and never used but after watching your video I thought I'd have another look so just went out to test them. The problem is they are all different. Out of the 4, on 0 turns I had 40, 38, 34 & 32 PSI for each of them testing on the same trailer tire pumping it up after each go. 1 turn varied how much less each was. It would do my head in knowing there are differences but not knowing which on each corner - not that it probably matters much but at lower PSI's I guess it would. They did seem to be fairly stable re-testing the same ones again and again, within 1 PSI. I also tested using the first click. I found sometimes I could pull the pin and it would go a little further but that wasn't as reliable for consistent pressures. So I've set all of mine now to 25. I usually run 50 highway so that lets me get the ball rolling airing down all 4 in 1 go then go around and finish off manually if needed to go lower.

It’s strange that they are all different! Mine are all within a few psi of each other. Still 25psi is a good all rounder I guess.

i have had a set of these that i have been using since 2011. i set them once when i got them, and havent changed them since (and they have not changed at all, they still deflate to where i set them). i found that for me, i leave them at 15psi, and that is a good starting point for most situations. i can adjust them up or down from there if needed.

After watching your A30M video I took a look at what else you had. This is a great idea! I have two sets of Stuans and a set of the Camp Boss adjustable versions. I never thought of doing this with the Stauns. BTW I also own an older Jimny and my sand pressure for that car is 8PSI all round. Not sure I would ever go that low in the Disco though.

Cheers for the hack mate, was debating whether to go get a different brand of the adjustable ones but I already have the stauns and thought they were too hard to readjust but this makes it way easy and will save me some dollars, the stauns are well made out of brass and not aluminium too so should last a lifetime 👌

One thing that amazes me is Australia has been using the metric system since the July 1974 and people still talk about PSI for tyre pressures, instead of KPA.

A lot of us also use feet and inches for measuring or referring to our own height. Wired, but true! 😂

We pretty much use whatever standard is recognisable, depending on what we are measuring, and where we are sourcing it from. Aussies are pretty flexible and use whatever works at the time, rather than being massively territorial and arrogantly anal like people in some other countries can be.😊

Thanks for sharing and Nice tip with setting them, gave my Stauns away over 15 years ago as there was so many better options out there that were easier to use. Check out JT brooks automatic Tyre deflator pros as they are far superior, no having to count turns or using markers as they have marked settings, best $120 spent and yes better than the Camp boss copies.

Which Staun Tyre Deflator version do you have? Staun currently offer 3 - Standard (6-30psi), Heavy Duty (15-55psi) or Light Duty (0-10psi). Based on the pressures you covered, I would think the Standard version. But the first pressure you got with zero turns was 36psi - outside the Standard version's pressure range. As per Staun's website, the Standard version has an adjustment of 3psi per half turn, and 6psi per full turn. Which is approx. the adjustments you were getting (except for the starting max pressure you got). The Standard version should have given you the following results - give or take 1 or 2psi: 0 Turn = 30psi; 1 Turn = 24psi; 2 Turns = 18psi; 3 Turns = 12psi; 4 Turns = 6psi (its minimum limit). Good little experiment though. 👍

My Stauns are so old I honestly don’t think they did different versions when I bought them. Maybe they did. I never did a zero turn test, only a single turn test which was 35psi. So interesting. Maybe I’ll have to have a look at a newer see Ava do some testing there too! Great information, thank you very much.

I had staun and they were shit. They would always deflate the tires all the way to 0 psi, and then next time I used them they would change tire pressures or just not stop deflating again. I got some camp boss ones, and they are so much more user friendly and they work every time, 100% recommend.

What a great tip JJ - thanks mate. How does one deflator compare to another in terms of psi (eg. if 4 turns = 18psi on one, do the other three also give you 18psi?) I might run this whole experiment on my cheapies that don't have that nipple thing...I'm beginning to wonder if I did the right thing!
@JebbreysJibberish
