What would really be nice is being able to use a modifier with the scroll wheel to move the fader with that option turned on. For example, Alt-wheel would control the fader, but scroll by itself would not.

is it possible to do so that when you hold for example ctrl and then scroll it moves the faders, but doesn't without it?

Not to my knowledge but there is an action to toggle this preference you can bind to a key or toolbar button.

You should be able to do it with screensets. Save your current screenset with the regular mixer view, then undock the mixer (if it's not floating) and resize it to only one track of width, save it as a new screenset. (The track visibility should follow the track selected in the TCP.) By assigning keyboard shortcuts to each screenset, you can switch from one view (regular mixer) to the other (floating single track), and vice-versa.

1:08 How did you open up the mixer for only one fader? Ive been looking for this exactly! Also, is there a way to set up a single track fader on the left like Logic? (The currently selected track always shows up there, and this would come handy for automation)

Is there a way to disable the preference where clicking in the fader area updates the fader position? I end up adjusting faders by mistake when i am trying to select a track. I want the fader to only move when i mouse left click drag it. And not when i left mouse click in fader slide area.

I'm new to Reaper and wondered if there is a way you can hear what your're playing without arming the tracks for recording? For example a mate comes round and I want to record him but I want to play along with him without being recorded.

Just right click on Record button and select Record: disable (monitoring only)
