asking questions is important before adoption. some people have heard or read wrong information, so that needs to be checked beforehand. if people have preferences it's alright of course.

@@claudiaj2138 for sure! ive seen so many guys walking around my city, or rather being walked by their dogs, because they almost cannot control them. also seen lots of guys be all cuddly and cute with their small (or even toy) dogs. and lots of girls with big dogs too. it's all down to who both hooman and doggo vibe with, but a poor or non-existent training is bad for both parties

Yeah, would’ve been better if he explained how he enjoys playing with a bigger dog breeds. Plus they’re harder to adopt out than small dogs, and he said he’d like to give less adoptable breeds a chance at getting a home.

@@jimothyj2638 Dogs pretty much do grow on trees. I mean.. do you see how many dogs are in these THREE shelters alone? There's simply very little reason to purchase a dog, that's intended to be a PET, from a breeder. You could go to any shelter, and find a puppy, to raise as your own.

@@jimothyj2638 Each to their own and I kinda get it, but it just seems crazy when there is already so many pets put down due to be unable to be re-homed. If you want a certain breed, shelters will usually have them, or you can keep trying around and wait until they do. If you can't wait a month or two for your desired breed, you're probably not entirely ready for the responsibility that is being a responsible pet owner. Its just that the less demand breeders receive, the less they feel the need to keep supplying. I understand everyone's circumstances are different, but it's just heartbreaking to find a home, be put up for adoption, find another home and then someone abandons them again because they weren't ready to go through with such a commitment. Its like people who have kids to 'keep the marriage together', like bruh that is not the point, it won't work, and you're risking someone who depends on you for food, shelter, love and play because you were bored or wanted to save a marriage. I used to volunteer at a shelter and I personally couldn't imagine not taking in a rescue, but you do you. Im just trying to spread a lil bit of education as a treat. If you're 20 and get a pet now, they'll be with you into your 30s hopefully. Big commitment yknow.

Also the fee is intended to weed out the really shitty people who would take a "free" dog and do cruel stuff with it, like dogfighting or just straight up torturing and killing. And it makes people put at least some thought into getting a pet and not just swing by and grab a cute free doggo that they might not even really want.

I used to work in a shelter and i understand what you mean, but i do love he is trying to get a big dog because they are hard to get out as well. I've had so many people ask for a small dog thats already trained and just easy to manage. I wanted to say to some of those people "you just want a cat."

I adopted a puppy about a month ago, (so it's 3 months old now) and it's A LOT of work. It's a lot of watching the dog, making sure they're not trying to kill themselves, 2+ hours of play time. Going outside every 10-30 minutes. Training. Etc
