I love the harder rock vibe. Almost a bit Marilyn Manson with the sound and also with the gender bending look in the video. I love the guitar in this track. I don't quite understand all the references in the lyrics like because of him/them I'm always late?? But I do think a lot of kids can relate to "Daddy called me "Nancy Boy", never let me play with toys" even if it wasn't actually Daddy. There's still so much gender bias getting pushed into kids about what is manly, feminine, what is gay, etc. (I try so hard to tell my kids that there is no such thing as a girl toy or a boy toy, just whatever is fun to them is perfectly fine. If that means my daughter is dressing up as Buzz Light-year and my son is a princess that's fine. They still get it from the outside world to an extent, but I try not to push them in any direction other than being happy. Like my son used to like for me to paint his finger nails and now he doesn't. At first I was worried that his decision was an effect of him learning from someone in kindergarten that it was a "girl thing" but just like I don't want anyone else pushing him to do things or not do things to "act like a boy" I don't want to push him to do things just be non-conforming. I just hope my kids grow up being happy with who they are. Cool song! I hope it helps inspire a whole new generation of kids to love rock music and channel their emotions into it.
