Sometimes all candidates from major parties is a criminal and there is one civil servant with no party apparatus who no one thinks will be able to achieve anything since he won't have support from the other criminals in power. You can't just say 'voters stupid' as if that's a great analysis brother. The democracy is broken and people are powerless to do anything.

There appears to be an opinion that the real reason is that the system is full of criminals and such. However, we must realise that in our nation we agree to keep this system going. If we simply refuse to be governed then who are the criminals who call themselves representatives of the people going to steal from? The voters do not make any real demand for change. It is true that sometimes politicians use tricks and diversion tactics but we must also realise that often we do not wish to engage in the drudgery that is nation-building. We would rather be given a simple narrative of good vs bad and be told what to think and who is right. Besides, it is not as if we have ever truly shied away from trading our democracy and freedoms for supposed peace and safety. It is we, the voters who fall again and again for the same old tricks and scapegoating and finger pointing. It is we who put more emphasis on big, flashy, inefficient vanity projects than the banal, effective and boring work of effective policy formation. Remember friends, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me As a great writer once said, "How did this happen? Who’s to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you’re looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror. His track record as a MLA is well but he is a owner of a petrol pump, bring a BHOJPURI actor to appease his non-bengali vote but the actor made some racist video against bengali women, he also made some serious crimes in his previous history.(N.B: Partha Bhowmick is also an alumnus of my school); the CPI(M)'s canditate Devdut Ghosh is a television actor; lives in Kolkata. I also checked that from my constituency a person named Sanjay Singh filed his candidature as Independent , his educational qualification is 4th class pass. In china majority of the politicians* (one party) has degrees especially engineering. Ofcourse you can see where the development is happening. I recommend that since there is quota for many communities. There should be quota for professions like engineers in politics.

The problem with making the number of cases alone a criterion without considering the nature of these cases, is that most dissenters, social activists etc will have a large number of fake cases foisted on them. The present govt specialists in implicating opposition leaders in false cases.
