I always found token-generating creatures kinda hilarious. From a lore perspective, magic games are planeswalker duels, with players role-playing as planeswalkers, summoning creatures and casting spells etc. So imagine a planeswalker summoning a guy who summons another guy.

Step 1: play the commander Step 2: play helm of the host Step 3: equip helm of the host and move to your combat step Step 4: proceed to get 2 extra non legendary commanders that double your tokens, then 8 extra, then 2048 copies... oh did I mention they haste?

Parallel lives in the command zone with built in protection??? And its simic, oh yes please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My first thought on this commander was: "Man, too bad white wasn't in their color identity for anointed procession, or red for mythos of illuna." My second thought was: "Sakashima is basically an auto include in a token + clone deck with them."

I really like the idea of making a treasure focused deck for this commander. Wouldnt break your brain or the balance at the table, and it would be a unique way to ramp in simic

Just so everyone knows, playing a mystic reflections on an avenger of sendikar with this commander in play results in 17 total avengers and 256 plant tokens if you have 8 lands in play

Just imagine this effect on a commander in bant! That would just be brutal.

Now I need an alter of this card with Double Trouble from the She-Ra reboot. And obviously an alter for Breena with Eda, the Owl Lady from The Owl House.

Why isn't Helm of the Host a card worth talking about with this commander? Seems nuts with the new Kaldheim Lands too.

5:27, it is in fact a cubic exponential. The card I want to play with this commander is biowaste blob. On upkeep you triple the number of biowaste blobs you control and each token gives all oozes +1/+1, cubic growth of tokens with cubic growth of power and toughness. There is no way you will get your upkeep with one, but the dream is glorious.

Has anyone mentioned Tamiyo's Journal with this yet? Getting multiple searches a game just seems nutty to me.

The real value of Scute Swarm in this deck is the first few additionnals tokens : SS is already on an exponential curve by itself and will be bolted as soon as possible because he is a wincon on his own. So to prevent that, you have to wait for 6 lands to play SS and play a land as soon as you played SS. If the opponent wants to stay alive, he will have to deal with 2 creatures instead (and in a multiplayer game, this could easily happen). So with this commander, 3 removal spells (or a multi removal/ boardwipe) are needed to prevent the win, which is more safe. Also lethal number of SS will happen sooner (so fewer chances of BoardWipes)

If u copy the hydra with Zaxara it does not get the counters so it’s just a zero zero and will die (I might be wrong about this)

This would also go great in your Riku Clone deck list from a year or so ago!

What I did was put in Helm of the Host on my Adrix and Nev, Twincasters and yeah, it got WAY OUT OF CONTROL, REALLY FAST.

The first card that came to mind for me was Rhys the Redeemed. In a Bant deck, the card is absolutely hilarious when paired with Rhys. But this card is also really, really fun with Mycoloth.

It’s so irritating that the other face commanders have so many hoops to jump through/restrictions while the Simic commander has a static ability you can go nuts with as soon as it hits the field AND protection

I already broke it. Helm of the host with this. At the beginning of the first combat you will make 2 so you have 3 total the next trip you will make 8 and it keeps getting bigger unless they board wipe or remove helm.

Im pretty sure replicating ring and skyclave relic would go well in this deck

The first thing I thought of with these two was Myriad. I doubt there is enough support for it, but Blade of Selves seems like a slam dunk in this deck, slap it on something with a strong etb effect (like Hornet Queen) and suddenly it's triggering 4 times whenever you attack. Seems petty good.

I built it yesterday.) deck, and now I have to build a third clone deck (in about one-month's time) that is going to be just as jank-filled as the other two. On the bright side, I can go ahead and buy some of the parts now and have them ready.

"exponential growth" simply means that the rate of growth is related to it's size in some way. To determine if you have exponential growth as yourself "is the number of tokens I'm about to put on the field somehow related to the number of tokens already on the field?" If so you have exponential growth. So to answer your question, scute swarm itself has exponential growth, with this commander you're just increasing the base it will be 3 squared instead of 2 squared.

What got me into magic was buying the precon “Ghired, conclave of the exiled” which has it’s main mechanism of token creation, and population. I took it apart a while ago, but now i can use some of those green cards with this new commander (pair)

i'm excited for this card to allow me to make my orvar deck into a simic deck. Orvar creates a token of any perm you control that's targeted by an instant or sorcery. making him double copy things is fun. i have a historic normal deck on MTGA that likes to copy Lay Claim Inspired by Mono Black Magic's deck that does the same thing. (except mine is Blue/White his is mono-blue) I already use Annointed Procession to double copies. (the general win con is: Survive until you can get Lay Claim (enchant perm: you control enchanted Prem.) then drop orvar + Anointed Procession (can be played early if you think its safe to do so) and use Teferi's Time Twist on Lay Claim. Creating 2 copies of lay claim and allowing you to attach the original at end step.) with enough cheap spells to target your own cards you can: Make several Anointed Processions ( Orvar + Procession + any 1/2 cost Bounce spell yeilds 2 Processions and original safely (mostly) in hand), mana Ramp in blue using Orvar + teferi's time Twist targeting a land (copies the land and gives the land back at End Step.) Spark Double + Orvar allows Orvar to copy himself, Spark Double + Teferi allows Orvar to summon an army of teferi's, Orvar + Omen of the sea + 1 bounce yeilds a scry 2 draw 1 for searching. (i've milled my entire remaining deck by doing this with 4 anointed Processions out 16 copies of Omen) I am a huge fan of SImic over White/blue So gonna love this new card. Definately gonna try to make a Brawl Deck with this guy (since MTGA doesnt have Commander, and MTGO is too expensive)

Hornet Nest is definitely going to love this too. Give it indestruct or regen and LOL all the way to the flying deathtouch abnk!

Hey there, it's me again, The Future. Can confirm that Adrix and Nev with Scute Swarm gets out of hand quickly. For more fun, run Double Major from Strixhaven to make a copy of your commander and get 4x tokens. Hell, put a doubling season or even a primal vigor in the 99, a decent tutor like green sun zenith for consistency, and you'll be pumping out tokens like no other. Sandstorm Salvager from OTJ: The Big Score is a powerhouse in the 99 in the simic variation of the token deck.

Oh man, thank God wizards decided to fix Simic with this card. Let me tell you, simic really needed the help. Maybe it can be competitive now?

I'd consider playing Sakashima! (the new one, but the old one is good as well!) since you'll get two more doublers and your Cackling Counterpart and Progenitor Mimic can copy your commander to each make two or more

oh look Simic the color that gets all the broken cards gets Parallel Lives on a commander

Deck definitely needs Urza, Lord High Artificer. Not only can you get tons of mana with him and have a mana sink to use it on, but also his constructs would be bigger than normal, even just from some other effect like creating a bunch of treasure tokens.

Mathematician (well, college student) here. At 5:26 you claim Scute Swarm is an exponential curve; this is essentially correct. Exponential growth is anything where the rate at which something grows is directly proportional to how much of it there is. That said, it was already exponential (this is a nutty card), it just happens to be growing at a much faster rate. Also, I know it's a bit out of budget but if you have Mystic Reflection and drop it on e.g. Avenger of Zendikar before the ETB can resolve with, say, 8 lands, you now have 17 AoZs and 256 plants. Drop a land and that's over 4,000 power put on the field.

My Koma deck says welcome to the team! Helm of the host is in that deck as well. Oh I'll have fun with this...

I'm thinking of making a deck that just switches between "Adrix and Nev, Twincasters" and "Koma, Cosmos Serpent". it will be like, 2 decks in one, but 2 decks that play the same way.

Running this with all the imprint token generators like soul foundry, prototype portal, mimic vat, etc And then if you're willing to, run unwinding clock, and all 3 artifact lands for these colors, alongside a few manarocks and boom you're running each upkeep making copies of myriad battlesphere, avenger of zendikar, or any other etb triggers for creature tokens. Even tho you do lose the copy of the creature's, the tokens stay around

I actually had a blue/green token deck (not commander) around Precursor Golem that this kind of reminds me of. If you are playing a lot of "put a token of target creature" than Precursor Golem can make stuff crazy like Rite of Replication was just nuts with it. I did have a lot of targeted Hexproof and Indestructible as well as targeted cantrips like Twisted Image and blue and green Wisps. I kind of want to remake that with this as the Commander.

Damn. I was hoping it would fit in my Gor-Muldrak, but it only doubles MY tokens.

If you can manage 3 upkeeps with Helm of the Host on Adrix and Nev, you end up with over a half-million copies of them.

I just want to say, with all the bad things Hasbro is doing right now I have been hesitant to buy their stuff. But I did preorder Strixhaven, because it has that flavor that I expect from a MTG set. And I'm glad I did, this set is looking fantastic, innovative new mechanics, cards we need (completing the reveal land cycle was unexpected and welcome), a plane that I want to know more about, and even some story as it looks like Liliana is in hiding while dealing with survivor's guilt over Gideon. This is a good set. I'm OK with buying things from Hasbro when they stay in line and don't do predatory bullshit. Maybe if enough of us buy the good things and shun the bad stuff, we might send a message.

Nacatl War-Pride 3GGG Nacatl War-Pride must be blocked by exactly one creature if able. Whenever Nacatl War-Pride attacks, create X tokens that are copies of Nacatl War-Pride and that are tapped and attacking, where X is the number of creatures defending player controls. Exile the tokens at the beginning of the next end step.

[[Arcane Artisan]] would be a great card for the 99. Card draw and copying other permanents. Really budget card too

So, cast avenger of zendikar (AoZ), once it resolves, before the etb resolves, cast mystic reflection and target AoZ, so the tokens come in as AoZ. Adrix and Nev are doubling the number of tokens each time, so those mystic reflection copies of AoZ are doubled, which are now creating even more doubled tokens of plants. Drop that landfall and watch your plant tokens get pumped with all those +1/+1 counters

I think it is good design they having ward instead of hexproof. Sigarda and others already show us how hexproof can be annoying and putting in a enabler would make it almost too powerful to most tables, specially casual ones

You gotta do quick takes on the two Strixhaven planeswalkers they revealed a few days ago. Ona of them is a returning character under a new name and is now a teacher..

Nacatl War-Pride never gets mentioned in stuff like this. Maybe it's to old or something else I'm unaware of keeps it out of consideration. It creates X 3/3 cat tokens when it attacks where X is equal to the number of creatures your opponent controls. Yeah, it's not as fast because it has to attack, but with the twins, you'd get 2*X 3/3 tokens. Odds are I would win the game for you if it managed to attack. 6 mana might be a lot but you're in Simic anyway so ramping to 6 shouldn't be a problem. Either way, this is a very exciting card.

I can't wait to put this in Koma!! The more ways to make more Coils the better
