I’ve been doing ballet since I was super young, sometimes I forget how foreign and difficult it really is. This video is super wholesome and is really motivating! If anyone wants to start ballet, do it! You don’t have to go pro, it’s a gorgeous sport and so underrated!

@Victoriess you can do ballet in socks, you don’t need fancy clothes. Also, pointe shoes are only for those who have trained enough and become strong enough. I’ll look some videos up and recommend some if I see any.

@Victoriess oh, one last thing, don’t forget to warm up! Being warm in ballet is a little different than other sports, your muscles should be both stretched and warm. I recommend doing some jumping jacks to get warm, then do some big arm circles to loosen the shoulders. Do some toe touches and stretch lightly in a lunge and in a straddle. In the straddle, reach to one leg with the opposite arm to stretch your side, this warms up the upper body. Hope you try this, super excited for you!

I miss my classes, I took almost 2 years of ballet when I was 45. I think about starting up again, it was very fun.

I started ballet in my 20s, and kept it up for decades. I loved it. I'd still be taking ballet classes, but there aren't any close to where I live now and I don't drive so I'd have to take long bus rides there and back. That's hard when you're in your 70s! 😄

They sometimes have classes at community colleges that you can try. If you cannot find a center near you

They’re actually pretty good in terms of, rhythm and some aspects of technique (in my opinion)

The instructor should be insisting on correct form. Just like when you lift weights or do other strenuous exercise, it's important to maintain good form to develop the muscles properly and avoid injury. And that clapping, omg, annoying.

The instructor isn't even telling any of the women to make corrections, so there's a lot of sloppiness and the muscles won't be trained properly. And they won't be able to proceed to more difficult elements if they can't get the basics right.

Honestly! I'm most concerned for the one who is extremely forcing her turnout (white tank, grey leggings). Most seem to be minor corrections and common ones youd find in any beginner class, whether it be for 3 year olds or adults, but forced turnout needs to be fixed asap.

This is so inspiring! I just started at home few weeks ago and I hope to start a class sometime soon..I'm 25 so my logic is if I'm kind of too old now and fear that it's too late to start, then later I will definitely feel too old to try so in my mind it's now or never 😅

Most people in an adult beginner class aren't actually beginners. They're returning dancers who danced as kids/teens and then took a break. Some studios have "Ballet Basics", which is better for true beginners.

Im 31 and feel too old to start ballet. It was never a financial option as a kid for me. Id be too embarassed to be out in a class with littlw kids 😅

I thought the same, but fortunately (for us) there's a bunch of adults with zero ballet experience lol That's why this is specified as a "beginner adult" class, because we can take class at our level without the worry of kicking a poor kid in the process 🥹

I came across this video as a suggestion because I watch a lot of dance videos. And I’m very blunt so I don’t mean this to be rude but just as constructive criticism..I would not take this class. The instructors extremely LOUD hand clapping - constantly every 2 seconds is absurd and gave me a semi-headache just watching this video. If she was doing that while I was IN PERSON there taking lessons I’d kindly ask her to please stop and if she wouldn’t then I’d leave. That is so distracting and absurd. (I’m a 30 year ballet dancer) I went to Juilliard. Not even my meanest instructors that were the WORST most hateful ones clapped like that. And I just have no idea why this lady is doing this but everybody must leave there with a massive headache and they’re too shy to speak up about it or say anything to her.
